Damn. I want the Zelda and Ocarina Link so bad. I was only able to find the 8-bit Link recently.
[t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CzA5hR8WQAAnoep.jpg:large[/t] lol
You know what bugs me most about the N3DS XL? I could literally walk to the gamestop down the road from my house to buy the generic one, but nooo of course I'd have to deal with the Roulette chance of getting the shitty screens that were in like, half of the first run.
What do you mean
What do you mean
Some were manufactured with TN screens, others with IPS screens. You can't tell until you try the model. TN is the cheaper, worse variant, and is the same type of screen used for the bottom one. IPS looks much better in almost all kinds of lighting.
So Nintendo apparently turned down a Star Fox Warriors pitch due 'Questions regarding the future of the brand'. Looks like Nintendo learned the wrong message from Star Fox Zero.
Nintendo would have more to gain from just taking advantage of the PC emulation niche by providing Virtual Console games up to either the 5th (N64/GBC), 6th (GC/GBA) or 7th (Wii/Ds) on PC than by cracking down on homebrew piracy. It's not like there'd be a massive dent in sales of current gen or next gen consoles if Wii U, 3DS and Switch games are not presented there, as people buy Virtual Console games to sweeten the deal of purchasing a console and not necessarily to actually buy one of those three consoles. I am not saying they should forgo all anti-piracy measures, but there is a point when, with things like region locks being present, you are hurting legitimate customers more than hurting the pirates.
https://hackerone.com/blog/Nintendo-3ds-Launches-bug-bounty-program-on-HackerOne So it seems Nintendo is finally seeking outside help with quashing the 3DS hacking scene. Interesting that they're doing this so late in the system's life. I wonder how many of the scene's major hackers will turn on everyone and cash out.
This whole ordeal is hilarious given the fact it made the DS sell like hotcakes, just like PS1/2 in the past and the PSP to a lesser, more niche degree (It was such a revolutionary emulation juggernaut at the time)
Let's just hope they don't do the same for Paper Mario and Metroid considering their performance this year.
This is my concern. They never ever seem to get the feedback of "This particular game was bad", it always seems to be heard as "People don't have interest in these characters anymore"
Let's just hope they don't do the same for Paper Mario and Metroid considering their performance this year.
From what I've gathered, color splash did pretty okay compared to sticker star, so the series might stay a bit longer than expected. Can't say the same for metroid, however. That's probably gonna be gone for good. :frown:
Personally I don't think star fox games are that interesting or fun and people's interest is mainly nostalgia for it. Metroid though, everyone loves and has a rich history of good games and gameplay.
If Nintendo doesn't realize that all we want from a Metroid game is either a Super Metroid style 2D game, or a Metroid Prime style 3D game, both with no overloading of story, then I really don't know what to say. We also want a story and setting that take themselves seriously. Honestly, if Federation Force didn't go for that "cutesy" style (and also didn't push a bootleg soccer game as a selling point), it probably would've done alright.

Maybe they're planning on keeping the 3DS going for a while longer? They are porting tons of Wii U stuff over and coming out with a lot of software for a 5~ year old handheld.
Probably something to get Square-Enix to guarantee releases in the west. i mean besides Yokai Watch 2's European release, and presumably the 3rd version in the US. (Wibble Wobble (?) listed a few Yokai as ? instead of Shin'uchi) that only leaves the US with like 4 games with dates. SE also has a lot of games under their belt that they might possibly do like the Pro version of Joker 3, or Theatrhythm Dragon Quest....maybe Bravely Third if that announcement from months ago isn't just a pre-announcement to announce an IOS version of Second. I mean are people just quiet about future releases, or is Nintendo the sole announcer. like stuff like Runbow Pocket and Goodbye! BOXBOY? [sp]wonder what happened to Tank Troopers. not even Pixiv seems to have gone to anything Aroma/Rama Ran related[/sp] EDIT: Forgot about Dragon Quest XI, but that's probably safe to assume that it would have a 3DS release, since they hyped about it. also apparently Tank Trooper's JP release date was leaked, it's December the 21st.

I doubt the Switch will completely overwrite the Game Boy / DS line anyway. For how small and portable it is, it just isn't the same sort of more affordably cheap portability people are used to.
I don't like metroid.
People seem to overstate its popularity. It's pretty much an obscure series in Japan.
Said fuck it, bought a regular red N3DS XL. Both screens are the good ones, and have the full range. Holy shit.
Said fuck it, bought a regular red N3DS XL. Both screens are the good ones, and have the full range. Holy shit.
do the old ones have the good screens, I have the old ones
Someone has calculated the size of the Switch. https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/5gnw0x/i_was_bored_over_lunch_at_work_and_made_a_toscale/ The screen itself appears be the size of the 3DS XL in length.
do the old ones have the good screens, I have the old ones
Non *NEW* ones have all the worse ones. For the New 3DS onwards, it's random, like utterly random.
Non *NEW* ones have all the worse ones. For the New 3DS onwards, it's random, like utterly random.
you can just get a shit screen by chance? are there comparisons of the difference?
you can just get a shit screen by chance? are there comparisons of the difference?
If Zeos is talking about IPS and Non-IPS screens, here is a comparison. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1009798 You are more likely to get the IPS screen if you got a N3DS around release if I am correct.
So Nintendo apparently turned down a Star Fox Warriors pitch due 'Questions regarding the future of the brand'. Looks like Nintendo learned the wrong message from Star Fox Zero.
I don't exactly buy into this rumor too much simply due to the fact that of all the games why Star Fox? It doesn't exactly have the character roster to back up a Warriors game let alone settings to pull from other then Corneria Again. Like it's such a ill conceived idea that I don't get how it would work at all- especially given the other series they could of asked for like Fire Emblem or Mario or hell, even the Kirby franchise.
DW's gameplay worked for Zelda, and yet it turned out to be an okay-ish game, what makes them think that it'll work for a series whose last entry sold very poorly? They should reject that not because people aren't interested in the brand, but because they should worry more about its main games. What the heck they managed to bring back Kid Icarus with a cool 3DS game yet they can't bring back Star Fox too?
The Metroid games never reach mass sales anyway (similar to Zelda), one could say it's a "niche" series. But goddamnit, it's one of the few games series that is doing the whole "isolated" game experience the best, with being on a planet that you don't know and you just progress through it and see how diverse it is. All on your own. I really don't want Nintendo to leave it dead.
Metroid certainly isn't my favorite series, but it deserves much better.
Metroid is my favorite series of all time and it breaks my heart the way they treat it.
I wish Nintendo would step up their game with their franchises. I'm a Golden Sun fan and I never even got a Smash rep. I felt Isaac was annoyingly close as well.
NOISE has been sitting some dark basement corner making more Custom Robo stuff since Arena's release 10 years ago, I'm sure of it.
