At least the Elite Beat Agents guys really want to make a new game, they're just waiting for a solid platform.
Here's something that'll probably get people mad at me. I don't like Metroid, but I like the metroidvania Castlevania games.
NOISE has been sitting some dark basement corner making more Custom Robo stuff since Arena's release 10 years ago, I'm sure of it.
If the Switch gets a Custom Robo game for it, I'll probably buy 20 copies. Loved me some Custom Robo on the Gamecube, [sp]as should be kind of obvious given my username...[/sp]
Here's something that'll probably get people mad at me. I honestly didn't really get into the series until Prime. And well, I think Prime is one of the greatest games ever made, so naturally, I went back and played Fusion (which I liked) and Super Metroid (which I absolutely love). As for "Metroidvania", don't even get me started on how much I love SoTN.
Metroid Fusion was my first Metroid game as a kid, and the brooding atmosphere and the constant fear of getting stalked by the SA-X got me so incredibly hooked. Then I played Metroid Prime about a year after that and the rest was pretty much history. I don't think a game will ever get me as unbelievably hyped as that game did.
Here's something that'll probably get people mad at me. I much prefer the exploration and finding upgrades to the RPG elements, which is why it always annoys me when some game touts itself as a Metroidvania when it's really just an Igavania game.
I played metroid 2 on my 3DS
Zero Mission is the shit. Tried Super Metroid about 2 years ago and felt Samus controls were too "floaty". Still going to return to the game someday, though
I'm probably asking the impossible with this one, but I'd love a new Chibi-Robo game that's closer to the original's gameplay of cleaning up messes and helping people with their philosophical soul-searching. I still have the music that played when you scrubbed the floor pop up in my head from time to time.
Did anyone play that new game by the Hotel Dusk people? How is it?
So Nintendo of Europe came out with a Retrospective and a Facebook page for the Fire Emblem series. Nothing most fans wouldn't already know, but the fact they're ramping up branding probably means they have something planned.
How was the latest Fire Emblem game? I enjoyed Awakening, but what did they change since then, and was it for better or worse?
3 new weapon types but they still fell into the original weapon triangle somewhere. Some types/weapons give debuffs to the user or enemy. Japan exclusive face petting minigame. Dynamic battle backgrounds and overall more polish. Personal customizable castle with shops and street/spotpass integration. There's more but someone else can jump in.
How was the latest Fire Emblem game? I enjoyed Awakening, but what did they change since then, and was it for better or worse?
The gameplay itself is some of the best, and most refined in the entire franchise. Abilities are way more interesting, and the new weapon types actually really help mix up combat options, lot of emphasis on temporary buffs and debuffs. Hoshido's game works similar to Sacred Stones and Awakening, with you moving around a map as you progress, and being able to fight new enemies on the old maps, while Nohr is more of a standard ordeal, moving from one story mission to the other with no way back, and it's satisfyingly rock hard The storyline on the other hand, is by far the worst the series has ever seen, the entire thing comes across forced, and it's written very heavy handed. Lots of story moments only happen because of characters suddenly becoming massive idiots, or doing something hugely out of character for the sake of drama. The multiple versions of the game is a bit of a disaster as well. The gameplay changes between each are neat, but they cause a large portion of the story problems, and the game as a whole becomes a huge money sink. A single one of the campaigns are the price of a full fledged 3ds game, then each extra one is another twenty bucks--- and to get the proper story and ending to the game, you have to play through the third middle-of-the-road campaign, which you can't buy standalone, have to have one of the other versions first. There's are a fair few miscellaneous dlc packs as well, mostly grinding maps and what-if scenarios for new class roles and items, but a few do touch on the backstory of the game and some of the characters
Like MangoJuice mentioned, there's a new weapon triangle, and other weapon types have been integrated into it. Basically, Swords/Tomes > Axes/Bows> Lances/Daggers (new weapon that inflicts debuffs) > Swords/Tomes On top of this, durability has been removed for all weapons except for Staves and other usable items like Vulneraries. Reclassing has been reworked, most characters can only access one other class tree with a Second Seal instead of two. Reclassing also preserves your level instead of making you start at Level 1 again. You also can't go from a promoted class to an unpromoted class anymore. If two units are married, they can use a Partner Seal to reclass to their spouse's base class tree. Units that have platonic supports can now also reach A+ rank, which allows them to use a Friendship Seal to reclass to their base class tree. Hit rates are a lot less forgiving. Hit rates < 50% uses one RN instead of two, and hit rates > 50% use a modified 2 RN system. Basically this means that hit rates < 50% are more likely to hit than in Awakening. Don't count anything out. Pair Up has also been reworked. Dual Strikes now only happen if two units are standing next to each other, and will always occur now instead of being luck-based. Dual Guard only happens in Pair Up and is also no longer luck-based, now being based on a shield guage that fills up when you attack/are attacked, automatically blocking the next hit when full. Paired up units are immune to enemy Dual Strikes, but cannot get Dual Strikes from their own teammates. As well as a bunch of other changes.
So according to my nintendo newsletter I got a discount bonus for my birthday this month and I have an option between a few 3DS games. I already got Monster Hunter, I'm not really keen on Yokai Watch and I have zero interest in Tomodachi Life; so I'm torn between Super Mystery Dungeon and maybe Fire Emblem. The thing is, how does Super Mystery Dungeon hold up in terms of length and everything else with the rest? Is it a good entry in the series? And on the other hand, is the new Fire Emblem any good? I haven't played any of their games at all and the most similar thing to it I've ever touched was Shining Force 2 on the Sega Megadrive.
Corrin also suffers from severe Mary Sue syndrome, with literally every character going on about how great (s)he is and how much they want his/her dick without them doing much to deserve it. Plus IMO a lot of the maps get gimmicky to the extent it feels just plain unfair. I personally enjoyed Awakening more, as dull as some of the maps were.
I bought conquest for Black Friday it was $25. It seems like a fun game

If you've played any of the other games in the franchise, it's not all that different, the biggest change is how recruiting works. You don't have to unlock a zone and grind ko's on that pokemon for a chance for it to join you anymore, each one has a mission associated with it, and once you do that mission you get that 'mon, simple as that. There are a few oddities with the system though, it means you can only ever recruit 1 of each species, and there's a thing in place where once something goes on a dungeon with you, it'll be a few days before it will again, so even into the post game you'll always primarily be playing as your starter and partner, and cycling out different companions I'd personally say that Fire Emblem Fates is a pretty decent in point for the series, as I said a few posts ago, the gameplay in them is great, just, don't expect much story-wise

It has all of the Pokémon in it this time when GTI only had mostly Gen V mons, and the story's about as good as you can expect from a PMD game. Not quite as good as Explorers, but that's a pretty tough act to follow anyways. Gameplay-wise it is a LOT harder than the last two entries, YMMV if that's good or not, but there are also a lot of nice smaller changes to it that make it more engaging. Things like wands that can inflict statuses/do various things from a distance, a more interesting and less-overpowered team attack than GTI's, and recruitment is now done by finishing various objectives, as opposed to being luck-based after defeating enemies. Overall, pretty solid. There are a few posts right on this page about the latest FE so you can read some of those. [editline]date[/editline] damn you just keep :ninja:ing me, don't you rc

This is only useful for amazingly awful players in my opinion, probably suited for impulsive players like DarkSydePhil. There's even a somewhat shabby localization, feel free to look it up if you wanna know.

Corrin can't be Mary Sue because he/she is a legitimate moron who could've prevented the entire war from happening in Conquest/Hoshido if he had just spoken up and stopped having no backbone.
Other M is hitting the NA eshop tomorrow :D
$10 is criminal price for Other M.
Oh and Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon as well http://nintendoeverything.com/fire-emblem-shadow-dragon-hitting-the-north-american-wii-u-virtual-console-tomorrow/
Other M and Shadow Dragon both on the same day? What did the poor eShop do to deserve that

Was Shadow Dragon good?
what's so bad about shadow dragon? i haven't gotten around to playing it yet
Shadow Dragon isn't bad but you have to go into it understanding that it's a very faithful remake of a game from 1990 so obviously it's not as complex as the later games. I admire it for making the original game much more accessible to play since the original was Japan only had a fucking awful interface.
$10 is criminal price for Other M.
It existing is criminal.
