Before Awakening, what was the best Fire Emblem game?
I like Path of Radiance the best.

the gamecube and wii ones always get the most praise, from what i've seen

A lot of people are partial to 7, I'm personally a fan of 8, and the Radiance set are universally loved as well
The GBA ones aren't bad either from what I hear, but they're fairly average compared to the standout titles.
There's also the SNES duology in Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, the latter of which is so sadistically difficult and reliant on RNG that it's for hardcore players only.
I should finish the Fire Emblem that the 3DS Ambassador got (Which I am). I believe it was Sacred Stones.
OH, and for those who still have some hopes for the NES Classic:

I liked other M. I thought it looked neat
The game as a mechanical point it's fine, but the story is...terrible representation of what Samus should be.

Even some of the mechanical aspects are a bit off though.
Having to point the wiimote at the screen to fire missles was a huge pain.
The core concept wasn't bad, but its various flaws combined with the massive atrocity that the story was just made it a horrid experience overall.
With Retro Studios apparently working on a new IP (which I'm really excited to hear about), and the last 2 efforts by other parties not doing so well, I think if Metroid does make a return, it might be developed in house next time.

How about controlling a third-person 3D action game that basically wants you to react quickly and accurately, with a D-Pad and autoaim because the director thought that control setup is the only way Metroid should be played?
Looks like we got a mini direct of Super Mario Run:

Pretty cool you can play as other characters.

BotW looks a lot smoother here than what we saw at The Game Awards.

Ohhh, I'm definitely smashing that F5 button when they have the Switch for pre-order now!
Notice that Link is wearing a Red/Green Tunic in match with the holidays. Clever Nintendo.

Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. (The two Ike appears in)
Those two games had the best atmosphere out of any Fire Emblem (I personally felt Awakening and Fates were way too Japanese-oriented compared to the titles that preceeded the 3DS-era reboot for the series).
Combine PoR and RD story qualities and character design with Awakening/Fates gameplay and they'd make a legendary game.

Didn't say it was perfect, but I did read that Other M was supposed to be a game that also used the Nunchuck. I don't know why they scrapped that.

Not sure if I want the WiiU version then, I'd rather the game look a little less pretty if it meant 60 fps on WiiU.
I'm getting the Wii U version to see the difference in-hand, also so my brother can play it while I play the Switch version.
Wow.
It's not even debatable! When the barrels exploded, it was SO smooth! No frame loss. Nothing.
I already preodered the Wii U version but I'm definitely getting the Switch too.
Just wow! I'm sold. Fucking hell.

Watching an adult man freak out over the Switch is adorable.

Metroid has a lot of potential as a third person 3d platformer like Other M, and there were elements that definitely worked.
Refine, but don't throw out, the battle system to give Samus a few more options for combat beyond dodge>shoot>repeat till dead and better integrate missiles, remove pixel hunt, make the controls for a more traditional controller instead of the Wiimote, make plot and progression less linear, and redo the story and characters completely and you'll have a title worthy of the Metroid name. Hell I'm even okay with giving Samus a voice as long as she doesn't monologue all the fucking time and acts like a proper badass in the face of danger.

Well, people his age are basically Nintendo's biggest fans and not the kids.

I honestly didn't know Miyamoto played guitar.

Yeah, but I haven't exactly seen people act like that. I think it's great.
I know people say how fallon over reacts to shit, but he's so obviously a fan with this stuff and it feels really genuine.
I wonder how Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing will differ in terms of how they handle transactions. Super Mario Run is a fully fledged game, albeit designed for a mobile phone. There's content that looks like it'll keep you playing for a while. You pay 10 bucks, that's it.
What will you pay for in FE? Different maps, units? Will units be bought in trading card style 'booster packs' or gachapon style random drops? Will you get free units or free 'plays'? Maybe you get one free go at a random map (Hardcore) and one map you can play endlessly until the two maps are cycled out.
And for AC; how do you even monetize that? Will you just buy nice flair-y things like cool furniture and neighbours? I wouldn't be surprised if they had amiibo card support for mobiles with NFC support.
