16/17 iirc.
Though there are new standards today. And once you're used to higher framerates, it can be rather disorientating to play something much lower.
There's not really much of an excuse for a poor framerate, though 30fps isn't that awful as long as it's relatively stable.
It was a stable 20, it was built off the Mario 64 engine, which was a stable 30.
To be fair, nothing was much higher back then.
60 fps was a standard before the 3D era, still was pretty much a requirement for 2D games afterwards.

We're talking about 3D games, therefore my statement is accurate.

Huh. My bad then, I remember hearing something along the lines of that in a few framerate discussions before.
I still don't understand why HW legends even came out on the regular 3ds, it is almost unplayable
Good point, tho yeah, 30 is not really that bad, as long as it doesnt stutter terribly like you say.
60 would be much better, but if the WiiU really can't handle BotW fully (which I find strange, is the Switch that much more powerful?) I'd say it's a good compromise
I actually cancelled my Zelda for WiiU. I know ill eventually going to get a Switch, not a launch, thats a dumb thing to do with Nintendo products these days, but eventually ill get one with Zelda. No pre-ordering for me anymore.
Not the Wii U
na oot was 24 frames
all versions of majora's mask ran at pal speeds aka 17 frames
just n64 things
BotW moment of the day:
Concepts of Link.

Second one is very Wind Waker-esque. Which might explain the overall design choice of the visuals. Cel-shading, exaggerated proportions, Koroks, bird people. Just the difference in heights between Link and the Old Man are very reminiscent of Wind Waker Link/Daphnes difference and why so many people speculate that the old man could be the King. And it also has the blue shading of Skyward Sword.
And the blue tunic again. The iconic green tunic HAS to be a major plot point in the game, like the Master Sword will eventually be. Probably is earned through trials or something. However, the fact that Link has yet to be seen in green is... weird. And I'm a bit worried tho, it might be just me. I'm still going with the fact that Nintendo wanted to show the importance of equipment in the game and how clothes will serve a much bigger role then just "heat-resistance" and "water breathing".
Wait.
There are SNES games on the New 3DS VC.
Oh shit guys. Oh shit. Oh no.
You never knew? It's been there a while.

I still see peeks here and there that "no it's not fake" but EH.
Why would they advertise BotW on Wii U for so long up to the Game Awards and then cancel it? This is a stupid rumor
At the very least it might be more delayed
I'm assuming that Kirby Concert is JP only?
Eh, wish we could get neat stuff over here like that. I'd love to go see it.
Are the new Pokemon games decently playable on the normal 3DS? I've heard some horror stories about recent 3DS games.

I'm playing on a 3DS XL and a 2DS. Drops on the Festival Plaza and every Battle Royal, but otherwise playable.
Why is getting Nintendo products at launch a bad thing? It's not like Nintendo will reduce the price quickly after, they tend to wait a pretty long time before doing so (at least for their games).
Uh not even a year into the 3ds a price drop, samething with wiiu. Plus they always come up with awesome bundles later on. It's stupid to buy Nintendo at launch, they always have something better later
If the rumored prices are true ($250-$300), I may end up picking one up anyway as that's honestly relatively cheap for a console.
Usually, the biggest problem as of late with buying a console on launch is the lack of titles on it at launch. That's why I bought my Wii U like a year after it came out, and why I still haven't bought a PS4 or Xbone yet. If the new Zelda or the rumored new Mario come out at launch though, that will be more than enough of a justification for me to get one.

You never know, Donkey Kong Racing was advertised for quite some time and even shows up on my box for my Gamecube as an upcoming title on the back.
That one didn't even get released at all.

Pretty sure the N3DS was a flop, so they gave up trying to make games exclusive to it.
(and for clarification Im talking about trying to get people to upgrade from a 3DS XL to a N3DS, not the consoles sales overall)
It is a pretty stupid way to limit your audience, most people wouldnt buy an entire console twice just for 2 extra games. And no studio would design a game that limits their target audience only to N3DS, when you can get both.

Rare got completely bought out, it's not exactly the same situation.
You know, I kinda wonder about Mario's form. Like, you ever think about why Nintendo made Mario's popular form the Super form and not his small form?

I get it that they explained it in New Super Mario Bros in the intro, but in the original one, it's obvious he started out small, since 1-1. You would've implied that's his original form. Unless I'm missing something like there's an explaination in, like, the manual or something.

Big Mario is better proportioned.
In an interview for the NES Mini they spoke about how Big Mario was the default, but that took up more space and they thought it'd be interesting if getting hit made you small (since that'd mean you'd have more space to move around). From there they thought it'd be interesting if you could grow bigger. You start out small and get bigger because it makes for a better progression. Even if you're big on the first screen, going from small to big instead of just starting as big teaches the player more about the game and it feels good as well. Like collecting coins that do nothing, it's satisfying.
Tezuka-san, when you started working on Super Mario Bros., what sort of concept did Miyamoto-san lay out?
Tezuka: He said he wanted to make gameplay in which a large player-character would run and jump around fairly large courses.
So at first, you just controlled a big Mario.
Tezuka: Yes.
Quite a long time ago, a manga magazine had stories about the development of Super Mario Bros.
Miyamoto: Yes, that's right. (laughs)
That manga contained an episode in which a bug caused only Mario's upper half to show when displaying that big Mario, and that's what gave you the idea for a small Mario.
Miyamoto: That's absolutely not true. (bluntly)
(laughs)
Miyamoto: I remember this clearly. Tezuka-san and Nakago-san5 and I were having a meeting, and we had the length of all the courses drawn up on a whiteboard. We were discussing whether there was any way to see farther ahead.
Mario was big, so you couldn't see very far?
Miyamoto: Right. We could pull back for a broader view, but then Mario would be smaller. Then Nakago-san said, "Wait a minute. Wouldn't it be fun to have a small Mario, too?"
Ah, I see. You introduced a smaller Mario to make it easier to see what's ahead in the course.
Miyamoto: Yes. And then we decided that you'll lose a turn when the smaller Mario runs into an enemy, when big Mario runs into an enemy, he would just get smaller. That would be a brand-new game mechanic, and we decided to go with it right away in that meeting.
So the inspiration didn't come from a bug as in the manga. (laughs)
Miyamoto: No. (laughs)
By the way, did you ever consider letting players start the game with the bigger Mario?
Miyamoto: Starting with the small Mario would make players happier when Mario got big later, and it would also give a better impression to players.
(To Tezuka-san) We decided that quickly, right?
Tezuka: Yes.
Miyamoto: And since Mario had gotten bigger, we added "super" to the title to make it Super Mario Bros.
Maybe because he looks like a toddler with a mustache ?
It's weird because I always picture big Mario as "normal" and the little Mario is just some weird injured state, it happens to the Toad people too.
Maybe because he looks like a toddler with a mustache ?
far too sexy for 1980's audiences
If it's still canon that Mario and Luigi came from the real world through a magical sewage pipe, would that mean that they were both midgets before entering the Mushroom Kingdom?

If that's still canon then explain SMW2: Yoshi's Island.
If that's still canon then explain SMW2: Yoshi's Island.
Yoshi's Island is in the real world, there's a government coverup concealing the fact that there's an island containing dinosaurs that have been to the moon, and storks magically create and deliver human children.
tl;dr: what canon?
