The good thing about them dedicating the whole stream to Zelda is that you can pop in and out at any time without missing much.
However, I kinda wish they would've used the time to show off more than just the new Zelda game, since it's not coming out until 2017 anyway and there has to be other games they could be talking about other than a segment on Pokemon.
It's confirmed: The new Zelda won't feature towns. [sp]It will have Hyrule in ruins and the players explore this world.[/sp]
Wait really? Source.
I hope shop keepers will still be a thing then.

Nah, magic vending machines are the way to go.

I haven't seen Rupees so I'm not sure how that would work
They've been picking up items that say you can trade for rupees, and one of the Treehouse people on stream just mentioned that also. Shops are probably still a thing.
Well that confirms you're defenseless if you run out of weapons, forcing you to run.
That kinda sucks
Thank god bombs are infinite, that's pretty hype.

Dondongos need to come back.
I just cant watch that trailer anymore, its just so good and its everything that i want. Someone save me.
There are Towns, Bill Shorten just confirmed it.
So there are towns, just the E3 version removed them so you can focus on exploration without spoilers.
I couldn't be happier to own a Wii U, really. Between the new Zelda, Bayonetta 2, Smash Wii U, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, it's definitely the console I've enjoyed the most.
So what the fuck happened to the world that made Ganon, not Ganondorf, but his bestial form into a god -like being?

Rest assured m8s, Eiji just said that towns do exist.

That was the timeline ALttP was on, and the Sacred Realm went back to normal when Link beat him.
When does Treehouse start tomorrow?
10 am, but what timezone?
So being as objective and grounded as you can, what do you think of the new Zelda so far? Personally
Pros:
*Art style is fantastic. I really dig it.
*The sci-fi theme is promising, though it seems kind of out of place given how natural the world looks at the moment
*Being able to use enemy weapons and junk laying around is cool
*Customization is also really cool. Surprised it's not just Green Tunic and Blue
*New weapons own
*A lot of little touches like cooking and whatnot seem like it might be fun. Shield surfing too.
*Koroks
*Jumping! Woaaah!!!
*Sprint meter was the only good thing about SS so glad it's been retooled for various things.
*The spells/bombs/whatever they are being rechargeable is cool.
Cons:
-Field looks hella empty. They said they removed towns and stuff from the demo but I don't think that was a good idea because it just made the world look barren to me
-Equip loads are always bad.
-"Weapon durability adds so much to a game!" said nobody ever. Combined with EL I'm worried it's just going to be frustrating and most runs will end up being "Use whatever doesn't break because people don't want to deal with it" instead of all the things they're introducing.
-Being able to pick up a million useless things, I dislike Bioshock or Elder Scroll games that let you just clutter up your inventory with random junk and the fact the demo station hit the limit as fast as they did is groan-inducing.
-Pop-in was ugly as hell in the demo. I hope it's not there in the NX version or at least touched up on the wii-u version
-There was some frame dropping too but again, demo, I hope it's fixed.
-Slow-Mo seemed kind of pointless against basic enemies.
I need to catch up as I missed like, half the stream but my basic impressions. It looks pretty good

If they kept the Towns and NPCs in, it would have spoiled the game apparently.
-Equip loads are always bad.

I actually like Weapon durability, I loved it in New Vegas. It is a great way to make the game more intense, I.E: You are at a boss and your powerful weapon just Broke, you gotta find a weapon around the environments to use

The weapon limit? I don't understand, the limit is quite small, like 5 items per type. I.E: 5 Apples, 5 Baked, 5 Mushrooms, 5 Melees, 5 Bows, etc
-Pop-in was ugly as hell in the demo. I hope it's not there in the NX version or at least touched up on the wii-u version
I don't remember Pop-in.
-There was some frame dropping too but again, demo, I hope it's fixed.
Frame Drops was when there were explosions right? I kinda hope it's fixed but it doesn't seem major.
-Slow-Mo seemed kind of pointless against basic enemies.
This I agree with, if it was just as a reward for Ambushing them without them knowing, so you feel badass, it would be fine but in the actual case it's just whenever.
I know it's pointless to speculate on the timeline, but I think this one is in the Fallen Timeline or the Adult Timeline, However Point I'm diverging is before Wind Waker or Before Original.

I picked mine up right after MK8 was out, and I've been really happy with it. It's a great console and I love running Nintendont on the vWii for GC games, makes for a great AIO machine when I want to play something from the living room couch.
I know we've seen Koroks but I still think this game takes place after AoL, or somewhere near that in the timeline.

I don't know, when it comes to Zelda, Nintendo likes to reference the other games, especially ones in different timelines, but they are never more than a reference.
But with the Koroks, it doesn't seem like a reference to me considering we see them throughout the game.
I think what the game needs is a better indicator of weapon damage. Just a gauge like SS would be enough.
I know I've mentioned it previously, but I really want to know what the hell that airship/zepplin/UFO was in the distance in the treehouse footage. It's obviously moving around, but why hide it? Whenever the camera has it in the view, the player almost immediately moves away from it.
What are you keeping from us, Nintendo!?

I'm still pretty certain that the runes/items they showed off are all we're getting for the full game as well.
Switching items is done only through that horizontal bar during gameplay, and I doubt Nintendo would be stupid enough to make players cycle through 14+ items to get to what they want.
I predict what they'll do is put the main tools you need (bomb, magnet, stasis, cryois) on the plateau, and offer some arbitrary upgrades to them as you collect spirit orbs. Maybe they'll add different/additional effects to them somewhere else. But the biggest thing I'm taking away from this is the items are once again very situational and primarily used for solving puzzles, and your main methods of combat are melee weapons and the bow.
And that's a downer, I loved using different items in Wind Waker and how the combat rewarded players for using shit other than just the sword

I mean, Bombs are always fun to lob at enemies, if impractical. They showed off using Magnet on a thrown weapon on the ground to attack at a range, so that could be a thing. Cryro will probably be super situational, I think they said it required water in the environment, right? Does Stasis work on enemies? I caught them showing off the whole bit with storing up potential energy on stopped objects, if that works on enemies too for burst damage, it could be a way to take advantage of openings

All I'm saying is would it fucking kill them to update the SheikahOS on so we can get a hookshot app at the very least? Climbing looks cool but man I can see it being a hassle as you get further on, just make it work on surfaces where Link could normally climb, that way it's not breaking the shrines and dungeons seeing as those have smooth walls that prevent Link from climbing
