It's been that way since the announcement of the Wii.
Ehh no. The Wii had some really good first party titles, and while that's pretty much all it had the DS was going strong all the way until 2011.
The ideas behind the Wii were more reasonable than sticking with cartridges on the Nintendo 64 in an era of discs (Yes cartridges do have faster load times, but was it really worth the vastly increased cost of each game, the beginning of the loss of 3rd party support for Nintendo, the handicapped audio and handicapped FMV ability?) and using minidiscs for the Gamecube when the opponents were using DVDs and CDs. (Which was one of the main reasons most compilation discs didn't appear on the Gamecube, due to lack of space)
Ever since he took over it seems like Nintendo's doubled down on localization changes despite people demanding they cool it, game announcements and directs in general have just stopped, overall communication has been absolutely terrible and now we have the most boneheaded choices for the future as no E3 showings and refusal to talk about the NX at all. The guy is trash. [editline]19th May 2016[/editline] E: This isn't me saying that Iwata was super transparent at all times as a aside, but it left a better impression. The only impression I'm getting these days is "I don't know how to handle a company."
Looks like Nintendo is going after people posting Minecraft videos with the Mario Pack in it.
Are they still paranoid about getting bad reputation... or something?
I'll be honest, while I do understand a lot of the feelings here in this thread towards Nintendo's questionable decisions regarding E3 and focusing pretty much entirely on Zelda Wii U, allow me to be devil's advocate and say that I kinda understand why Nintendo are probably doing this. Mainly because, well in all honesty, Zelda Wii U/NX is pretty much the only game from them (of which I know of) that people are legitimately excited about, and honestly, who can blame them? #FE, while sad that they're not showing anything from it at E3 despite how much work Atlus did with the english release; last time I checked, the game sold VERY POORLY in Japan, despite it supposedly being a pretty good game, and having it primarily targeted to a Japanese audience. So when you have a game that couldn't even sell well with its target regional audience, is it really worth it to try and see if it would have any more luck internationally, where it's likely that even less people are going to be interested in it? Hell, even if Nintendo did feature the game at E3, it probably wouldn't really do anything in regards to sales once it comes out. As for something like Paper Mario: Color Splash? I'm pretty sure Nintendo are well aware of just how negative the reception is to the game, especially since it's a sequel to a game nobody asked for (Sticker Star). If Nintendo did have the game during this E3 to try and convince people that it's not total shit, it would probably go just as well as when they tried to do the same exact thing with Federation Force earlier this year (aka not well at all). So, yeah to me, Nintendo is just simply sticking with what they absolutely know people want to see at E3. Yeah it may be dumb that they're not taking the opportunity to reveal and show off the NX during E3, but considering what else they have to work with in regards to games, I'm at least glad they're showing off SOMETHING exciting, rather than one continuous string of disappointment (ala last year's Nintendo E3 Direct).

Try to word it a bit better as it sounds like Nintendo said they wouldn't be doing this and everyone's trying to figure out how to fix it. If they truly had that little faith in it then it should be canceled plain and simple. It doesn't make sense for them to keep making it if they aren't going to push it. People are excited about Zelda, but they're also excited about the NX- as it stands Zelda and FE aside there is literally nothing coming out. Absolutely nothing. Nintendo as a whole looks dead. The Wii-u AND the 3DS have almost no 3rd party games coming out after next month, no first party games, and all we have is a code name for something they're planning with "uh trust us it'll be cool maybe?" This is just inexcusable as it is straight up betraying the consumer and there isn't any lighter way to put it. E: Like people were giving them a lot of slack with Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and all the shovelware they shit out last year because "eh it's to pad this winter release as the NX is around the corner." Looking back at it now what the fuck were they thinking releasing those rushed pieces of shit?
This is gonna be a pretty shitty year for Nintendo that's for damn sure, Color Splash, Federation Force, and then pretty much nothing else for the Wii U :v: Weren't there rumors that Nintendo was gonna focus more on the Japanese market instead of the Western?
I don't think anyone has said that (or at least I haven't heard anything like that) but with all the absolutely stupid choices they're making in general I wouldn't be surprised if the new guy just crawls up his own ass.

Was cleaning some stuff out in my office and came across some cool stuff I've collected. Found some GameCube chips sitting in a drawer. For some reason I have a CPU, GPU, and a RAM chip. [editline]19th May 2016[/editline] They seem to be sample chips. [editline]19th May 2016[/editline] Apparently I made a thread on these chips before when I was young and dumb. and I was in a phase where I thought the GameCube was trash. younger me was an idiot
we never did get a new console mario golf. i ahd a lot of fun with the gamecube version and the 3ds version kept me interested enough to play through all the courses. though seeing them half ass mario tennis makes me wonder if we dodged a bullet
Does anyone think it's at all possible that they'd cancel Paper Mario Color Splash, or even take it out of the public's eye and bring it back to the drawing board? There have been a few times in the past where they'd be working on a game, show it to the public briefly, then stop talking about it to only release it in an entirely different form from what was initially shown. The only examples I can think of right now are Starfox 2 becoming Starfox 64, Earthbound 64 disappearing and becoming Mother 3 for the GBA, and even the first Paper Mario originally being Mario RPG 2. Are Nintendo past the days of cancelling projects and reworking them from the ground-up?

This could very well be a possibility with the NX around, but we can only wait and see unfortunately.

There's a chance they might rework it and push it back to the NX, but it's more likely of Nintendo to just release it on Wii U to continue padding out the library with 6/10 games with no soul.

Are Nintendo past the days of cancelling projects and reworking them from the ground-up?
Kirby's Air Ride was originally a Nintendo 64 game and was completely remade on the Gamecube. Similarly, Kirby's Return to Dreamland was originally created for the Gamecube with totally different properties such as partner stacking, before becoming the Wii game we know today. Super Mario RPG 2 was converted into Paper Mario due to rights issues, as well. Other examples of cancelled Nintendo games were several Mario Artist games on the Nintendo 64, a spinoff to Perfect Dark called Velvet Dark that would have emphasized the stealth elements and had been third-person like Metal Gear Solid, another Rare game, Conker's Quest, was completely rebuilt into Conker's Bad Fur Day, and yet another Rare game, Dinosaur Planet, was redesigned into Star Fox Adventures with major plot differences. Even more recently, Project Guard was converted into the Star Fox spinoff, Star Fox Guard, and we still haven't heard anything about that mech combat game that was showcased at the same time as Project Guard. Among cancelled games, probably the most prominently advertised that I recall was Donkey Kong Racing on the Gamecube.
I have to admit, it does kind of feel like something in Nintendo died with Iwata. I'm not gonna blame Kimishima for it all, but it feels like no one there even wants to try anymore with Iwata gone. It genuinely does seem like they lost some essential bit of their DNA or something, that the whole company has been - for lack of a better word - lobotomized. A shell of what it was two years ago. Things were looking really bright in E3 2014 even despite the lack of Wii U sales, but around early 2015 with the initial NX/mobile announcement, everything just fell apart. What happened around that time, is that when he started getting sick again?
Shigesato Itoi should become president.
I ended up going with the plan to get the 2DS bundle after the price drop that took place today, but I have not heard anything about Mario Kart 7, which was bundled with the system. Is it any good?

It was fun discovering that every single Mario Party available on the Wii U is utterly useless to me. And I was looking forward to playing some of it with my friends too.
Oh yeah, that too, gotta kill Mario Party entirely
What's wrong with it?
What's wrong with it?
Everyone plays in the same cart. No one is by themselves. And that's for 9 and 10.
Yeah and Minigames just kinda 'happen', and they're all shit anyways. So basically the fun is gone from the board, minigames aren't a guarantee, and the game itself is just bad.
And I don't have any wii controllers, so we literally cannot play at all :v: And the other two are the DS and GBA versions that are singleplayer only.
Mario Kart 7 is great cause it has the best Rainbow Road and it's when Shy Guy became a roster character. Also introduced kart customization. Mario Kart DS is fine but it stinks when you play with others because of snaking. Mario Kart 8 is a FUCKING BLAST. My favorite installment, in music, track selection, and Shy Guy once again makes the roster worthwhile. Shy Guy in a Biddybuggy or on the Mr. Scooty is the cutest thing ever.
One of my biggest problems with Mario Kart 7 is the lack of Waluigi. Instead we got the Bee from Mario Galaxy.
