So the remaining Hyrule Warriors DLC characters may have been leaked. Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled, I guess. http://nintendoeverything.com/hyrule-warriors-legends-upcoming-dlc-characters-seemingly-outed/ PH/SP:[sp]Toon Zelda[/sp] ALBW:[sp]Ravio and Yuga[/sp]
I'm legitimately upset because [sp]Linebeck[/sp] is such an obvious choice, honestly, especially for PH/SP. [sp]Toon Zelda[/sp] is such a cop-out that could have been put in for the [sp]Wind Waker[/sp] bundle. We absolutely do not need [sp]even more alternative versions of characters; they got away with having 3 Links and two Midnas,[/sp] but when you could have had someone as unique and interesting as [sp]Linebeck[/sp] and you go for that instead, that's just disappointing. ALBW DLC, I'm not even mad about. Perfect fit. PH/SP, though, argh.

I seriously would kill for a anime version of the 4th case of the first game.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ace_Attorney_(anime)
Okay, now make a good one.
I prefer the focused, directed style of level design of Mario 3D Land and 3D World over Mario 64. Come at me.
I liked the focused, directed style of level design that Super Mario 3D Land and 3D World did. Fucking come at me.
is this supposed to be an unpopular opinion?
Okay, now make a good one.
Wait, is not good? why?
Wait, is not good? why?
I heard the first couple episodes are pretty meh but it picks up around the Steel Samurai case.
Great, now I just need Godot to eventually appear and I can finally die happy.
i want to get into the ace attorney series. where do i start?
I'm guessing the first game. Theres the ace attorney trilogy for the 3ds which has the first 3 games.
i want to get into the ace attorney series. where do i start?
In this order: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (Optional spinoff games, these can be played after Trials and Tribulations) Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney Investigations 2 (Japan only) Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodō Ryūnosuke no Bōken (Japan only) The first 3 are in the Ace Attorney Trilogy 3DS bundle, and Dual Destinies is on the 3DS eShop (also has an optional DLC case). Apollo Justice is on the DS, and Spirit of Justice is first going to come out soon.
didn't a couple ace attorney games get released on wii
didn't a couple ace attorney games get released on wii
I know the first 3 ones are WiiWare, but I'd recommend getting the Trilogy instead, as it's cheaper, has new sprites and a few fixes. Like removing a rude gesture from one of the sprites and some typos/grammar issues. If you don't have a 3DS, then sure. But I prefer having them portable. Oh yeah, the Trilogy is also available on iOS.
I was just curious if getting a bargain bin version of the first 3 games would be more cost effective, but since it's wiiware i guess it's not worth it.
I was just curious if getting a bargain bin version of the first 3 games would be more cost effective, but since it's wiiware i guess it's not worth it.
I don't think they're available in physical copies for the Wii, hence WiiWare. The games ARE available as physical copies on the GBA, but that's japanese only, and I'm sure they're absurdly expensive.
AAI is great even if it's a spin off, AAI2 is probably my favorite game tied with the 3rd. At this point in time I only keep up with the series because I used to enjoy it. Now it's weird as heck with Phoenix going overseas and DARK AGE OF THE LAW and shit. Also it's annoying as fuck that they refuse to bring back the old characters despite everybody wanting it. The DLC non-canon cases in the new game don't count.
Also it's annoying as fuck that they refuse to bring back the old characters despite everybody wanting it. There's very little they're "refusing" here.
wheres gumshoe? wheres larry? wheres oldbag? will we ever see godot again? wheres franziska? not to mention all the other characters that the series built up but capcom just said fuck you and pretend they don't exist that's why AAI2 was so great, after dealing with AJ and DD the series went back to form and you saw all the old cast again so it was like revisiting the past except it was a game you hadn't played yet.
Larry is in the DLC case. Godot is most likely dead. Edgeworth, Ema, Pearl, Maya, and the main cast return. How many more do you want? Do you really want every single character to randomly show up in a new cast? Characters don't need to endlessly show up again and again just to satisfy fanservice, most are fine with their story done. There's only so much you can do with them, even the AAI series only had a few characters returning past the main ones in both games, and most "returning characters" were very short, and often badly handled, cameos. There's nothing bad about wanting to tell new stories, and I was actually kind of miffed at DD reverting Phoenix back to being a lawyer after AJ's build-up. I'm sure they'll have a slow drip of some old characters returning with new games to come, but having games be one long polonaise of returning people isn't a good idea.
i already said the part where larry comes back is non-canon as he literally comes back in a time/space warp. Why would Godot be dead? He's not that old and he doesn't die or anything. Also yes because they never had some deep connection to the plot. It makes the world believable if you have reoccurring characters. Especially since the series has an established cast so it's nice to bump into them again to see what they've been up to all these years. Gumshoe could have easily shown up for a case in DD because he still probably works in the police force so it's natural for him to make an appearance? We even got to see what Mike Sahwit was up to in AAI2 and it was cool. Regina made it too and it made perfect sense. It's perfectly possible to bring in old characters and they have done it heaps of times.
I prefer the focused, directed style of level design of Mario 3D Land and 3D World over Mario 64. Come at me.
I disagree. They may be focused, but segmented. 3D Land and 3D World felt like Mario level packs, instead of full games. Mario 64 and Galaxy also had segmented worlds unrelated to each other, but it expanded within those worlds. 3D Land/World is an alternative to the side-scrolling format, not the 3D Mario format, because they are much more shallow in comparison.

Only Oldbag (who is the one that comes through the portal) is non-canon, she even uses her trilogy sprite. The series has handled returning characters in both really bad and really good ways - Frank Sahwit is pretty good, as are the likes of Adrian Andrews in AA3 or Gumshoe in AA4, they make sense and have a role to fulfill. But then there's cameos like Ema or Mike Meekins in the AAI games, who just kind of show up, do nothing, and then are gone again, just for the sake of fanservice. I'd rather they keep the returning characters to those who actually add something of value and have something to do. It doesn't make sense for everyone to be involved in every game, it's not like that was the case in the trilogy either. With how massive the character list is now, you'd never be done.

I'm still pissed off that Capcom didn't released AAI2 to the West. The first one was fantastic and fresh breath of air for the Ace Attorney series, and who doesn't like Edgeworth and Gumshoe.
