who dares me to flush a gamecube down the toilet? [sp]I won't, these are precious babies[/sp]
What kind of elephant is that toilet made for that it could fit a Gamecube?
I'm just talking about those chips, the brains and heart of the GameCube. [editline]21st May 2016[/editline] CPU, GPU, and one of the two RAM chips. idk where the other RAM chip is :c
I got the 2DS because I got it back when I was still in school and had no money. It's decently cheaper. Now I wish I could get a N3DS but I can't be bothered to do a data transfer.
[sp]I'm aware, the inquiry wasn't serious.[/sp]
yeah but now I want to own a giant toilet to flush consoles down in my free time
Why are the GameCube chips outside its system again?
I have sample chips from when the console was in development. No clue how and why I have them. [editline]21st May 2016[/editline] Originally I had both of the RAM chips and an unfinished motherboard along with these chips.

Oh, I remember now!
Was cleaning some stuff out in my office and came across some cool stuff I've collected. Found some GameCube chips sitting in a drawer. For some reason I have a CPU, GPU, and a RAM chip. [editline]19th May 2016[/editline] They seem to be sample chips. [editline]19th May 2016[/editline] Apparently I made a thread on these chips before when I was young and dumb. and I was in a phase where I thought the GameCube was trash. younger me was an idiot -Makol
Well, it's worth a laugh. Not sure why you thought graphics were that important at the time, I just liked the GameCube more because... I've known it for longer, our first Nintendo console after we played ROMs of Megadrive games.

I think it was around the time when I first got into PC gaming and had a really shitty attitude towards consoles in general, despite playing the shit out my 360 at the time. I pretty much only played games on consoles up until 2009 since my family all had Macs (I played a lot of point and click games) so PC gaming was something I never thought of. I went from Sega Genesis/Mac > N64 > GameCube/Xbox/WoW(on OS X) > Wii/X360/WoW(on OS X) > PC/360 > Wii U/PS4/XB1/PC [editline]21st May 2016[/editline] And then throw in whatever Nintendo handheld was relevant in those time frames
Man, watching this is making me so excited to see what these HD emulations will be like once they find a way around the slowdown. Seeing this also reminds me, what's the general opinion on CaveStory3D? Having never played it (shocking, I know) am I missing out on much playing the 3DS version compared to others?
To reiterate what Keychain said, Cave Story 3D comes kinda hard to recommend. The 3D model novelty kinda wears off after a while when you notice that the game is tremendously dark. I guess they were trying to go for a cave feel but it doesn't work. Not to mention that your player model is the exact same size as the original. I dunno why that's a problem but for some reason it is. Oh, and a physical copy of the game is over 40 dollars, definitely not worth it unless you're dedicated with buying every single version of Cave Story released.
Oh, and a physical copy of the game is over 40 dollars
Try $70, there are about 150,000 copies worldwide (and less than 10,000 are from Japan if you were interested in the boxart for that one).

Maybe it doesn't have a box?

The whole NX using cartridge thing might be a remnant of development, as the Gamecube technically used cartridges in development
The whole NX using cartridge thing might be a remnant of development, as the Gamecube technically used cartridges in development
i wouldn't be surprised if NX's current hardware devkits used cartridges
The whole NX using cartridge thing might be a remnant of development, as the Gamecube technically used cartridges in development
That was back when they made the jump from the N64 though. I don't remember the specifics of the cartridges though, I think it was actually a (very fragile) hard drive. That wasn't the only thing devs used though, actually I believe they mostly used NR discs, which despite being the same size are different from actual Gamecube discs and can't be used on retail hardware (and vice versa). The Gamecube had a fuckton of development accessories anyway, some of which are really from left field. I have no idea how they go around development hardware nowadays though, not sure if using cartridges is a viable option. In any case I doubt we'll see cartridges in retail.

Nintendo has given up, news at 11
Nintendo passed up traditional booths at the last two GDC events. Also following a trend from the last 2 years, Nintendo has grabbed 3 meeting room spots at the show.
nothing out of the ordinary it seems.
So we're this close to running 3DS games in HD with sound on pc... Meanwhile we're stuck to playing on that awful 400x240 pixels resolution on legit hardware. Why can't they release a 3DS HD that's more powerful and can run games at, I dunno, 420p at the very least? Phones have been 1080p for years now. I have lots of amazing games just.. sitting there, unplayed or unfinished, because I just can't get myself to play on that 400x240 screen anymore.
trying to render two screens can be taxing on the system, especially one aiming for low cost for kids, so it's best to keep the resolution low so you can put the effort into rendering larger 3d environments or more details on certain things.
Let me guess, is it [sp]Dedede in a giant robot?[/sp]
Man Dedede hasn't been a villain from the first game what the heck.
I never really played a Kirby game before so I assumed Dedede was the Bowser of the series.
I never really played a Kirby game before so I assumed Dedede was the Bowser of the series.
Nah, Kirby actually has a wide range of antagonists. Speaking of Kirby: [t]https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p296x100/13240709_1103092439732436_1469962280836939182_n.jpg?oh=2a0973f303d64208459643fc66b40957&oe=57D5B4BF[/t] Gonna rev this up tonight, looking forward to it.
I never really played a Kirby game before so I assumed Dedede was the Bowser of the series.
DeDeDe is more like "The Donkey Kong" of the series. Any time he's the bad guy (aside from the very first game and some spinoffs), he's actually misunderstood or not in control at all of what is going on. Closest thing to "The Bowser" of Kirby is Dark Matter, which is more like "Hijacked by Ganon" than "Bowser".
