The online was removed to fit the local multiplayer aspect
why would you ever need one to supplant the other
It makes sense that Dragon Quest VIII is not until next year.
VII is supposed to be super long (100+ hours)
Meh Nintendo Direct, Pikmin maybe but by that time it comes out all my money is going to be saved for the NX and it's games.
For me
Pokemon - It's literally just a ratata and saying some pokemon have their own moves. Nothing to get hyped about
Zelda Amiibo - They look nice, I like the Wind Waker ones. I have too many though already so kinda eh. Don't even know what they do.
Hyrule Warriors - Sand Rod is good, Toon Zelda looks boring as expected. Booo
Yoshi and Poochy - It's literally the same game just with a couple poochy levels. I could not care less and I'm not into buying the same game twice.
Mario Maker 3DS - No online sharing is trash, would of picked it up otherwise. Loud farting noise.
Tank Game - ??? Who
Stuff we already knew about - I wanna get Yokai Watch and PW, bout it.
Pikmin - Fucking garbage and I'm upset seeing people say "wow finally pikmin on the 3DS :D". It's literally watering down yet another series into a dull as dishwater 2D puzzle platformer instead of doing anything interesting with it. It's ugly and a insult to the franchise worse than Color Splash could ever hope to be in my eyes. If this is the rumored Pikmin 4 then just end me now. It's like they didn't learn from Chibi Robo's shameful death at all.
Overall it was a WasteofTime/10
Didn't watch the direct, is the Pikmin sidescroller meant to be the "Pikmin 4" that Miyamoto kept referring to?
Jesus, Sift, you've been such a debbie downer lately. Sure, the new Pikmin game wasn't the most exciting looking thing, but it looks fine. I don't think it's "Finally, Pikmin on the 3DS!" levels of exciting, especially when it's the Yoshi's New Island devs (yeah, learning that tempered my expectations a bit), but it is not an "insult to the franchise" when it's gonna at least gonna give the college try. At least there won't be as shit of music as New Island.
Also, I don't think those Wii U ports are for people who already own the game- it's for the non-Wii U 3DS owners, of which there are a lot. It's a quick cashgrab that I'm not gonna pay attention to, and neither should the owners of the original game.
Wait really it's from the same devs as Yoshi's new island? Lmfao

If I didn't own a Wii U I'd be annoyed that I was getting a gimped version of Mario Maker

It's the same devs as Yoshi's New Island, who are infamous for cutting as many corners as possible and making horribly ugly games. The studio has literally never made a single good game and this looks to be the exact same. It's a case where I'd rather have nothing.
I repeat again, it's the same situation of taking a franchise that isn't a 2D platformer and forcing it to be one when it doesn't match the series at all. Paper Mario is at least pretending to be a RPG and looks like it has a small amount of effort put into it.
And yeah it's a quick cash grab to pad out the 3DS because there's literally nothing coming because everything is for the NX which they refuse to show off still. It's not being a debbie downer or whatever, it's just looking at a bleak presentation and accepting that it was bleak. All sugar coating would do is just lead to let downs in the future so why do it to yourself?
Like Mario Maker, they could announce that it has slopes, new tools, all sorts of exciting things but what's the actual point if I can't share the levels with anyone? Even if I didn't own the Wii-U version why would I be excited for a level creator that literally can't play other peoples levels unless I physically track them down? I don't see a reason to get hyped for a lot of this stuff because it's just filler really.
Edit: Here's a food analogy because people love them and it's how the direct made me feel.
You walk into a new restaurant that you hear serves amazingly fresh food but there's a waiting time. You sit at the table and you order a steak only to be told "no silly customer, we'll choose what you get. Trust us, it's going to be great."
You decide to wait it out and see what it is but boy it's taking a long time. You ask for something to hold you over and the chef says "Yes valued customer. We have just the thing" and walk over to another customers table and cut their meal in half before trying to give it to you. "I don't want that, can I have something made fresh?" you ask, the chef apologizes and leaves the food on the table before returning with stale bread. "Enjoy." The chef says before leaving. You normally love bread but this is not what you want at all! It's nasty and awful! Fuck this bread specifically!
"Chef can I just know what I'm waiting for at least" you ask, the chef just giggles and winks at you before vanishing into the back for another 6 months holy shit please come back I just wanna know what's being made.
I guess if you want this to be authentic there's a couple sitting behind you that won't shut the hell about about what the chef might be making and one of them is Emily Rogers.

You're killing me here, mate
Also, Toon Zelda's a lot more fun than she looks, relatively fast, got some solid combos, heavy attack lets you Goron around with a lot more control than Darunia
Rejoice, all three fans of Daisy, she gets to be on the cover of the sports game and gets a high quality render as well.

It's so weird seeing Mario characters interacting with Horses.
Mushroom Kingdom style Horses also look weird.
Actually honest statement:
When the talk of the NX first happened I got hyped to see what Nintendo would do next. I was excited for the system and oh man it's gonna be good I love the Wii-U!
But now it's been so long and Nintendo continues to refuse any clarity on what it is and I'm just starting to wonder why I should be excited about it at all. I mean, we know literally nothing about it other then the fact the Zelda game is going to be on it too and so is Sonic. It's literally just a bunch of question marks and yet people are still pumped and I'm not really sure why anymore?
If they said "We're showing it off next week" yeah I could understand being excited because "finally information and a reveal" but why build yourself up over something that's just a word as far as we know. Why are people giving Nintendo all the slack in the world for what is literally nothing right now?
I love Mario, Kirby is my favorite franchise, the NX could launch with games from both series and be a masterpiece smash hit but why get hyped when none of that is actually known outside a person who's been confirmed wrong going "hehe trust me guys it's gonna be hella sick"
I don't get it anymore.

All Honesty? With how little that's been said about the NX, it's been kept such an etheral thing that I haven't been excited over it at all so far. It'll probably be fine, I'm sure, Nintendo does good stuff, but I'm in no rush to get my hands on it or see what the deal is. Really, so far it's only existed as a deterrent keeping me from getting a WiiU, in case it's somehow backwards compatible. That's why I'm not bothered by the lack of info so far, I'm more than happy with a 3DS, and legitimately hyped up over a lot of the stuff announced today.
There really isn't any reason to be hyped over it yet, as far as I'm concerned
Super Mario Maker for 3DS has such incredibly disappointing limitations. Like, most of them seem totally arbitrary. Why can't we search for courses online? Why can't we upload courses made on 3DS? Why no amiibo? I can understand limitations in bringing courses from Wii U to 3DS (since I'm sure 3DS version has tighter object caps), but surely Wii U would be able to handle any course made on 3DS. Even if they gave the 3DS version its own separate course server decoupled from the Wii U version entirely, it would still be better than having no online course browser at all.
Including 100 official stages and StreetPass course swapping is great, but without online course uploading/downloading, it's basically Super Mario Maker without its best feature. Super Mario Maker Lite. It better not be a full $40.
It would be a perfect opportunity to update Mario maker with more tiles and enemies. I feel it's unlikely to get anything new now.

I kind of stopped following it after a while, I'll be honest. Did it ever get slopes?

Yeah, Ive been a huge Nintendo fanboy my entire life but after the WiiU, i just feel burned out by Nintendo never doing anything for the fans. I dont think ill ever buy another Nintendo console or game until the end of the life span. Its sad but thats the way i feel like it has to be with them now.

No. They did add key doors and red coins that make a key after getting them all. Spiked crushers and a firey clown vehicle got in too. Oh and checkpoints.

It's real offputting how you can see every detailed hair along the Horse's coat, but the characters still keep their cartoony solid mass of plastic hair. I think that's what it is

The guy(s) who made that render did their job with a fuckton of pride

Welp, I know what my phone wallpaper's gonna look like from now on.
They've been doing stupidly high-quality character renders since SM3DW. You can see every stitch on Mario's overalls these days.
I'm interested in Sports Superstars. They claim that every sport is "fully featured", so I'm wondering if the included tennis and golf will effectively replace Mario Tennis Open and Mario Golf: World Tour. I'm totally fine with a redo of Tennis Open, at least, because it was a pretty bland Mario Tennis game.

I feel like that might have something to do with how the Mario series hardly had any actual real-life animals aside from the very small amount of humans that you see in the entire Mushroom Kingdom.
I've always kinda wished they'd make a pikmin game for the ds where you could use the touch screen to aim and throw pikmin, so I'm actually pretty excited to see what comes of that.
