What do people here think of the whole tn vs ips 3ds screens? I just recently got the Sml3d N3ds and it's very nice but I honestly wonder if it's worth going out and hunting down the different screen type. The differences seem big but it could just be the photos.
Had an IPS n3dsxl, switched to my current n3ds and I can easily see a difference during gameplay.
There was a thread for this but I'm going to cross post it to here. Remember how that dude MetalJesusRocks found a for-retail US 64DD and a development disk? Well with some help they managed to find the contents of the disk and dump it (spoilers: it's just a test program, not a game), as well as the internal ROMs of both the US 64DD and a development 64DD. Pretty cool for archival purposes. They're also doing a call-to-action basically telling people that if they know anyone with a blue dev disk to contact them, because they have everything set up to dump the contents out. Maybe Earthbound 64 will rise from someone's dusty cabinet. :v:
God I keep nearly falling for Color Splash and it's kinda sad. Paper Mario's one of my favorite franchises growing up so I want to cut it so much slack- especially when I see trailers like this: Yeah it's just toads but that setting is actually unique and interesting and the music seems fine (beach is eh but whatever.) They're still spamming the haha we are paper isn't that wacky type humor but eh. Then I think about how the card system might be interesting if handled right- I mean thing stickers are still around but you have to spend resources to use them instead of just refinding them over and over again. If they really do make you balance your paint out it would be a great reason to get into fights to get exp to get more. It's leveling up just with a slightly different take on things. Part of me starts thinking "eh it might be good after all, just... lacking." Then I see footage from players like this and I'm instantly reminded that Thing Stickers are still required to defeat bosses, let alone the fact bosses only last 3 turns at best (you cannot call that a boss, I refuse). The only enemies I've ever seen in any of these clips boil down to -Shy guy of some kind -Koopa -Goomba and I just go back to feeling down on the game again. This sucks.
I'd be willing to try out new overworld/battle mechanics in a Paper Mario title as long as they kept the party member system, actually had an interesting world with good writing and didn't focus so much on Toads and limit themselves to only species of enemies established in the platformers. Sure there were a lot of Toads in the first game and maybe just as many in TTYD, but they weren't the only characters you interacted with. There were a lot of enemies/species from the platformer games, but they weren't the only enemies you fought. They did use some of the common level themes, grass lands, desert, castles, etc. but each felt like a connected experience, a giant world you could believe in. Paper Mario and Paper Mario TTYD were each novels for everyone*, while Sticker Star was a pop-up book for children. *Super Paper Mario could be considered a novel, just with a different, less as wide audience.
Why are half the sound effects in all the Paper Mario Color Splash gameplay missing? The game is so eerily quiet sometimes. Is it just THAT half assed?
Why are half the sound effects in all the Paper Mario Color Splash gameplay missing? The game is so eerily quiet sometimes. Is it just THAT half assed?
Well you know what they always say: Nothing is quite Paper Mario like a 3D pig dancing to dubstep.
It's kind of insulting that there's even an HP bar in color splash, as if it's still an RPG. It might as well be a puzzle game.
The online was removed to fit the local multiplayer aspect (Peace Walker did the opposite if I remember, starting with local on psp and having online with the ps3), and the mystery mushrooms were removed to continue giving the wii u version an edge (despite having one with the online).
But I don't want to buy their fucking soon-obsolete console to experience the whole point of the game, so now I'm just not going to buy it because there's no reason to. Like, "oh fucking finally I streetpassed someone who also owns mario maker I can't wait to- oh all of their levels are shit nevermind" [editline]a[/editline] Imagine if LittleBigPlanet only allowed you to share your shit locally, the game wouldn't have had a community nearly as large as it got.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/p2KQJQp.jpg[/t] Did some shopping this morning! Traded in my 3ds and some games and basically got the galaxy for 50 bucks. Grabbed another Soul Silver after I lost my copy years ago. Squid sisters and a few Pokemon packs. Today was a good day!
Anybody here play lego city undercover for the wii u? Was that game any good? I remember people being excited for it before it came out and then after it came out I heard nothing.
people liked it but thats when there was barely anything to play on wiiu. it wasn't very good then again i am somebody that doesnt like any lego games except lego island
I bought it on release but I couldn't really get into it. The most off-putting thing were the insane loading times, I have no idea if they fixed that issue
The vehicle customization in Slot Car Rivals is way more extensive than I had expected
I remembered I have an extra copy of New Leaf I can download off the Nintendo store. I can have TWO towns holy shit

[editline]3rd September 2016[/editline] Oh wait, it seems to be dumped already
Anybody here play lego city undercover for the wii u? Was that game any good? I remember people being excited for it before it came out and then after it came out I heard nothing.
Long load times and lots of restrictions. Frame rate stuttered as well. Other than that it was decent.
I remembered I have an extra copy of New Leaf I can download off the Nintendo store. I can have TWO towns holy shit
Heads up it doesn't work that way. Towns are saved to the system itself or something silly like that so if you make a second one and go back to the first town you'll find that it's been deleted. Happened to me way back when the game first came out
man i remember nintendo saying that they wouldnt abandon 3ds once nx came out (or something along the lines of that), but i cant help but feel with recent 3ds release announcements thats basically what theyre already doing
man i remember nintendo saying that they wouldnt abandon 3ds once nx came out (or something along the lines of that), but i cant help but feel with recent 3ds release announcements thats basically what theyre already doing
I'm pretty sure they said that the NX was neither a successor to the Wii U or 3DS.
I'm pretty sure they said that the NX was neither a successor to the Wii U or 3DS.
They say that but I remain unconvinced
It won't be a successor as they say but everyone else is going to treat it like that and your going to see the Wii U fade into darkness...
The NX will be a standalone thing that's neither console or handheld but everyone treats it as the end of the Wii U
There are a lot of factors as to why people feel like the Wii U is a dead console and you really can't blame them. The NX is just one of them. Other reasons are such as NX getting the new Zelda and 3DS getting a ton of Wii U exclusives. Seriously it's an awful time to be an owner of the console.
I'm pretty sure they said that the NX was neither a successor to the Wii U or 3DS.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/07/02/nintendo-to-continue-wii-u-3ds-support-following-nx-launch [editline]3rd September 2016[/editline] itd also seem pretty stupid to me to release N3DS, and abandon 3DS only a year or so after launch [editline]3rd September 2016[/editline] seriously though, all the games announced have been ports (not thats a bad thing in the case of woolly world, but with mario maker being gutted...its also just better to have straight up new titles) or bad re imaginings that no one really wants (pikmin)
I'm pretty sure they said that the NX was neither a successor to the Wii U or 3DS.
Just like how they said the DS was not a successor to the Game Boy line.
I can see them doing a transition period; like maybe the NX will be able to run 3ds carts and wii u games in some fashion so that it won't be so jarring. But with a new system that will have the strengths of a console and a handheld, I don't see what's in it for them to have a third system in circulation with two others, when they're already struggling to get attention for one of their two current systems.
Just like how they said the DS was not a successor to the Game Boy line.
Technically, there was a "new" Game Boy after the launch of the DS.
itd also seem pretty stupid to me to release N3DS, and abandon 3DS only a year or so after launch
They released the 3DS just two years after the DSi
I'm pretty sure they said that the NX was neither a successor to the Wii U or 3DS.
Pretty sure they said the DS wasn't a successor to the Gameboy Advance as well. They can say whatever they want, but it doesn't mean much in this instance. Do you really think Nintendo, or any company for that matter, are going to tell people that one or more of their current consoles is soon to be obsolete?
Gamexplain posted a somewhat edited playthrough of Iggy's entire level. You talk to a bunch of shy guys and goombas and stuff and some of the lines are kinda alright though nothing really gripped me. It did have one good line though and I'll give it that.
Honestly I wouldn't have so much issue with Color Splash if they just had some variety in character design instead of relying on safe ones. Also, if the battle system wasn't as gimped as it is now. It seems at least like they're trying. It looks better than Sticker Star at least.
