Guess who's back? What a surprise! On a positive note, atleast he talks like in the old Paper Mario games, and the music is very TTYD like. Some interesting things: Peach says "I've been kidnapped by Bowser! And he seems different somehow. I mean, besides all of the black paint obviously", maybe there'll be a plot twist? Another thing she says with the Holo-Peach message is "I don't know where this airship is headed, i'll send you another Holo-Peach once i'll find out", maybe you get to play as her for a short time like you did in the first Paper Mario after completing a chapter?
Calling it, Bowser is possessed by the Black Paint because it feels unused since it doesn't have the free conformity the other colors has. even though it's used for toning and (possibly) outlines. Huey will probably die either taking an attack from the paint, or purifying the paint's demonic form, which also frees Bowser. (for strangeness sake, the paint-demon would be in full 3D rather than just 2D) Living macguffins seems like the Mario RPG serie(s) jam for a while now. they did do it with the Dark Star after all. probably other times too.
Sounds like they're genuinely trying to make up for their mistakes from Sticker Star in terms of presentation, even if they're retaining the battle system. Could be that this might be a nice mix between SS and TTYD. Probably won't save its reputation at this point, though. Federation Force didn't turn out too bad either, but you still have a camp shrieking that it's even worse than Other M.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm still interested in color splash despite everything being said. I have a feeling it might end up like Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, in that it's a decent game in it's own right, but not really representative of the typical game play the series is loved for. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The Ace Attorney series has it's share of just adorable characters but IMO (case 5 spoilers)[sp]Armie Buff is just the cutest thing anyone ever could think up.[/sp]

Was it that hard to create a new character?! Look at 64 and Thousand Year-Old Door, it had a wide range of colorful character as friendlies (Boos, Goombas, Bomb-Omb, Koopas, Rats to name a few). This is just laziness to the max.

Just for clarity sake as it gets tossed around a lot, it's not "no new characters" or anything like that. The rule was "you can make new characters, but make them meaningful." It's why in M+L When they got told the same thing they introduced a ton of new things in Dream Team anyway. The SS Team however shyed away and said no thanks and well... y'know. It doesn't help a large portion of the 64/TTYD team is just gone or relocated now. Now whenever anyone asks them about it they ignore all critique and just respond "but it's fun trying to remember which Toad has the funny lines :D" aka "We don't give a fuck". Seriously look up literally any interview and that's the reasoning they always give. As for Bowser who is actually surprised due to the abundant BOWSER tape everywhere that we've known about since day 1. Also while I'm not going to be totally unfair the little glimpse into his lines are lacking in personality outside him just saying "chumps" and fucking off. If he just vanishes to the end of the game without saying anything else or having any other scenes at all then it's not a improvement at all. Also I don't think there's going to be Peach segments. I wouldn't be surprised if they just float down to you at certain points of the story without much fanfare.
I heard good things about the new Picross game, so I bought Picross 3D for the DS since I've never played Picross before. Damn this game is like crack.

No one could have predicted this!" okay i laughed a bit. i enjoy that this game is still having fun with itself.
"Princess Peach has been captured by Bowser! It's been in all of the games sense 64 and Paper Jam has the two Peach's just messing with the formula.
Woah what you thought Nuts and Bolts was decent?
It's a fun game, just not what anyone was expecting.
Woah what you thought Nuts and Bolts was decent?
I'll second that, Nuts & Bolts has legit fun gameplay, it's way underrated
Woah what you thought Nuts and Bolts was decent?
If it wasn't called Banjo-Kazooie, then people wouldn't have complained about it. The big problem is that it throws away the collect-a-ton formula that people loved from the N64 games, but it's not bad, it's just not what people wanted.
*nonsense*
fucking ptsd daddy-issues samus quashes that milarky for me. No years are going to undo that.
Anyone else excited for Dragon Quest VII on Friday? Can't stop refreshing my preorder page because some people are saying they've had their copies dispatched
yeah i've been replaying DQ IV the past few weeks, i'm so ready for DQ VII
I think that the characters in Mario games calling out the Princess Kidnapping formula is still just as bad as playing it straight. There's no use in making fun of it if you're not gonna deviate from it.
I would love to see a Mario game that has Princess Peach kidnapped (again), but they completely ignore it and do something else.
fucking ptsd daddy-issues samus quashes that milarky for me. No years are going to undo that.
They were talking about federation force not other m
They were talking about federation force not other m
Oh, well, [sp]mind control[/sp] is a pet peeve trope of mine so I'll be none too happy no matter how many years down the line.
I would love to see a Mario game that has Princess Peach kidnapped (again), but they completely ignore it and do something else.
Yeah it has to have a actual joke behind it. Like Mario gets woken up by Toads saying "oh no Peach has been kidnapped save her Mario!!" Mario runs out and starts his adventure and uncovers a ~deeper more important plot~ that he has to take care of as well. On a trip back to the hub town Peach is just standing around at one point "??? I was never kidnapped I just went out shopping. Oh shoot I didn't tell anyone did I?" Toads near her just desperate to play it off because "uh... there's bigger stuff to worry about now??"
Maybe I just didn't get far enough into it but the customisation was lackluster and the missions were boring?
Yeah, the missions did got repetitive too fast, that's for sure.
So finally started Case 5 for in AA6 and...[sp]HOLY SHIT I GET TO FIGHT AGAINST PHOENIX FUCKING WRIGHT HIMSELF[/sp] I totally didn't expect this to happen.
