I'm going to buy a cheap broken official n64 controller and put the board off a third party usb one inside the shell, since adapters always introduce lag and the one I got doesn't even work. is there a way to get one of those gamecube style thumbsticks working with third party boards?
I don't know, but those third-party sticks suck, bro. They feel nice at first, but they don't map to the N64's proper analog range. So you'll find it difficult to do certain things in games (ex: the spin attack in Zelda).
But wait, if I'm understanding this right, you're trying to do this so you can USB into your PC? I don't know what you intend to use a USB N64 controller for, but if it's for anything on PC then why not just use an actual PC-native controller like an Xbox 360/One controller or DS4?
Alright, so if I were to, in theory, buy a New 3DS XL, but I want to transfer my ambassador and account stuff over (I know it's a full wipe of the original 3DS in the process), what should I do and what should I know about? I'm bouncing the idea in my head, especially since I have a 3DS straight from 2011 and it's just too small for my hands now.
Everything will transfer over perfectly. The new system will basically assume your old system's identity, so to speak, and everything will be there. You just need the latest system software and an internet connection (to verify the transfer on Nintendo's end).
Source: I have an Ambassador New 3DS XL via system transfer.

I know. Which is why I want to try and connect one of the aftermarket thumbsticks that take after the Gamecube style thumbstick. I'm not above some soldering.

To play N64 games of course. And have a genuine Nintendo (at least the shell and buttons), but also native USB controller.
[editline]20th September 2016[/editline]
And because I already own basically all controllers including an Elite and maybe I'm just bored.

I think even Stretch Armstrong would tell you that's a hell of a reach.

No, what I mean is, those sticks suck (the GCN-style ones). Basically, all third-party N64 sticks suck. Trying to swap sticks is an exercise in futility, because you're going to end up with a shitty inaccurate stick either way.
I mean sure, it sounds like a fun project to do just because, but as far as quality goes you might as well use whatever stick comes with those USB controllers by default. Every speedrunner I talked to on my own quest for the best N64 solution told me the only three good options for N64 controllers are official ones, Hori Mini Pads, or Raphnet's GCN-to-N64 adapter (which has superb stick translation and less than a frame of latency). I settled for the adapter, personally, and it's served me well so far.

I already have one of the aftermarket gcn style thumbsticks in my official controller, it works like a dream. i don't get why there would be an issue with them? maybe there are varying degrees of quality with them

They just don't have the correct sensitivity/deadzone/range that games with more technical controls expect. Most of those sticks make aiming in FPS's like Goldeneye very difficult and you can't perform some moves in certain games like the spin attack in Zelda. I'm sure there is a variance in quality, but from the few I've personally tried out plus all the mean things I've read speedrunners say about them, I've concluded that none of them are ideal.
Ishihara refused to confirm if a Pokémon title would launch alongside the NX in March next year, but did enthusiastically confirm that the company would support the platform:
"The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device. We will make games for the NX."
oh shit

Well apparently there were Secret Shops, also a sneak peak of the Bayonetta amiibo:
You'll need Goomba Color and PocketNES, both of which can be found at Dwedit's site. You need to inject your GB and NES ROMs into these emulators using the included programs before you can use them. You can't just pop the GB and NES ROMs into the EZFlash. Then you load the prebuilt ROMs through EZFlash's menu just like any other game. DO NOT build every single game ever into a single ROM, because it will far exceed the cart's memory. Build several smaller ones containing a few games each.
Please do yourself a favor though and save up to get an EverDrive-GBA instead. It's seriously ten times better, and actually has native GB and NES support built into it so you can actually just throw all your ROMs directly onto the microSD card and be on your way. (You just have to put Goomba Color and PocketNES into its system folder and it will automagically load them together with raw GB/NES ROMs on the fly when you select them.) EZFlash is such an archaic, awful piece of shit and I'm so glad to finally be done with it. Everyone's only dealt with it for so long because nobody else stepped up to bat with a better GBA cart until now.
FFFuuuuuc
Too late, I already ordered EZFlash 4
I guess I can order EverDrive-GBA for my second GBA SP

Link's humming as he cooks is adorable. I love the attention to detail.
And yeah, I actually think they're trying to imply "NX" here, too. Considering how many people have guessed that as the answer, I think they intentionally made it obvious. Especially considering BotW is one of the only games confirmed for it so far.
Guess we'll find out. I do think the reveal is very close now, especially since that guy from TPC outright said it'll "blur the line between console and handheld", which all but confirms the hybrid theory is correct.

I've never before been hyped for a Zelda game. I need this.
If we're being honest I think a lot of people are guessing NX because people just want info on the damn thing.
The answer is obviously just a simple axe because he finds one in the woodcutters house and in the same clip demonstrates why it's useful. Making a mountain out of a molehill etc.

What Sift said. You guys are giving Nintendo too much credit, I don't think they'd be that clever to drop hints like this.
also semi unrelated but I really like the footstep sounds and the muffled clinking of Link's equipment in BotW, gives a nice sense of weight to his movements and I'm a sucker for good audio design

Yes, and the Super Mario Galaxy logo designer wanted to make sure you knew "u r mr gay"
What the hell guys. It's pretty obvious that, aside from giving a new gameplay video, it's an intentional reference to the NX.
I'm most likely going to get a wii u this year but I don't want to play the new Zelda until I get a NX. I want the best experience for it

Then better wait and get an NX, it's pretty much guaranteed to have some kind of backwards compatibility, even if it uses cartridges.

Hasn't nintendo gone on record to say they want to get away from the Wii and Wii U names, and that the NX will be a completely different experience altogether?
I doubt the NX will have backwards compatibility. Amiibo support, but no backwards compat

Pretty sure there will still be a way to play Wii U games on it. I mean, they can't just disconnect Wii U and Wii games and say: "lulz, you wont be able to play any games from previous consoles on this thing ever".
Pretty sure there will still be a way to play Wii U games on it. I mean, they can't just disconnect Wii U and Wii games and say: "lulz, you wont be able to play any games from previous consoles on this thing ever".
Well I mean they dropped the gamecube with the Wii U, and the GBA with the 3DS, and to make the NX backwards compatible would mean the NX's control scheme to support Wii U games, further raising the price and just making the whole thing a mess.
Nintendo's also gone on record for saying the NX isn't a successor to the Wii U, but rather a new branch in Nintendo's current lineup of hardware. Now obviously they're partially saying that to cover their asses in case this thing tanks, but I suspect there's some actual truth behind it.
I recall a rumor that said some Wii U games would get ported to the NX, those being Breath of the Wild, Smash Wii U, and Splatoon. So even if the NX can't play Wii U discs, the people who missed out on a Wii U will at least have a way to play some of that console's best games.
I expect ports of wii u games for sure, as well as a few 3DS games, but backwards compatibility is doubtful- especially when previous forms of backwards compatibility have been "we shoved the previous console into our new console so that when you put the disc/cart in, it loads it in that instead.", and I doubt a portable hybrid would have that kind of thing in it.
Yeah, I realistically don't see the NX playing Wii U discs, it's going to have a different programming architecture to make it easier to port code from a PC (and thus make it both easier to program and easier to multi-port to). I imagine it will be powerful enough to emulate GameCube and Wii, though, and will have ports of most of the major Wii U titles.
Basically, the reason that the PS4 and Xbox One don't have "true" backwards compatability will be the reason the NX likely won't. They might have a 3DS/DS slot, though, it wouldn't be much bulkier with the innards of a 3DS in it.

As fun as this would be, it's most likely fake- the only place you would be able to get this kind of material is at that NoE event going on right now, and those guys make too much money to care about leaking this stuff out.

Hey guys check out my hot leak.
Biggest giveaway of how fake it is: No D-Pad.
Others would be:
-The flatness of the far back joystick components. No volume.
-Nintendo reusing the cyan/black color scheme of the Wii U?
There is probably loads of hints of how fake it is.
edit: Nevermind then, we already found the original picture. Good one Sift!
have you guys seen this shameless chinese super mario maker rip-off on steam?
Boxmaker is an action game that similar to Super Mario, it is more than a game that the players passing the different level of its game setting. You can also design your own game mission or take a challenge to the missions designed by others.
