The Melee trophy claims Mario is about 26 in Japanese, so he apparently has discovered the secret for eternal youth.
For someone who's 24 he sure looks like he's in his 30s-40s
It's probably the hats, they look younger than 30 with them off. Maybe at the time of the interview (2005), Mario is technically 24 years old since Donkey Kong came out in 1981. i just assume that formally Mario's age became defined the more progressively realistic the graphics are. Mario would obviously be a baby (canonically) during Yoshi's Island but not chronologically (in real life), the Cartoony graphics can't be misconstrued. 64 would be kind of Mickey Mouseish so it'd look timeless. advancement in graphics makes him look slightly more rounded and childish, it basically hit an apex. he still has slightly modified proportions in spinoffs with only different things like personality, but that would be non-canon in games like smash. Donkey Kong as a character would be kind of complex, and Mario's history of abusing animals would obviously be excised, barring the few games that references their rivalry, and even then, plot and personality actually gives motivations. since then, we had Yoshi's Island DS (and New Island) it would be argued that all the Baby characters could be of the same age, but Bowser's age is ambiguous just because of the strength he has and that he barely looked different in games that technically takes place in the slight future like Partners in time, whereas Baby Mario/Luigi are retained as names but are more like toddlers. The age is probably not much of an issue now since they did make the franchises' age more noticeable with milestone anniversaries. putting an age on Mario now would kind of remove the mystery from the character. like you don't see people pegging Mickey Mouse as a 30-year old.

It looks like a weird capsule glued onto his face, now.

Has anyone here played the DLC episode for AA: Spirit of Justice? Is it worth the money?
Has anyone here played the DLC episode for AA: Spirit of Justice? Is it worth the money?
The DLC episode yes, the "Asinine Attorney" episodes not so much. They're funny but unless you really want that 3DS theme kind of overpriced.
Has anyone here played the DLC episode for AA: Spirit of Justice? Is it worth the money?
Went through all of it. Larry is a trash character and ruins all of day 1 by existing, characters are also all pretty one note and boring and it isn't until the second day that they actually dare to show personality. I don't think it's a awful case but it's a lot more somber/emotional in tone then you'd expect. I walked away from it wishing that Day 1 wasn't such a drag but I don't regret the purchase at all.
I feel it's kind of a kick in the pants that (SOJ spoilers and very minor DLC case spoilers)[sp]This is the only case where Maya actually plays the part of Phoenix's assistant. She was only present in 2 cases in the main game and one she was the culprit and the other she spent almost the entire case absent.[/sp]
I've become that guy who looks at extremely niche shit, so here's some cool news: somebody is actually translating Mario Artist: Paint Studio for the 64DD. If you're a fan on Mario Paint, this might be interesting to you.
Not a word from that meeting that took place before 1pm at the Nintendo store in new York? Damn, Nintendo's silence is getting a little worrying
Not a word from that meeting that took place before 1pm at the Nintendo store in new York? Damn, Nintendo's silence is getting a little worrying
It wasn't a meeting, it was a private event- probably a birthday or a sales report or something. It's a practice done at Nintendo NYC since before Iwata's passing, and it's never led to anything interesting.
Seems odd to publicly announce it on twitter
They've always announced it that way, it's to warn people not to come at that time and get stopped from going upstairs.
picross 3d for the nintendo ds is the only game i've really been playing in the past few weeks. fuck it's so addictive. can't wait to play the 3DS sequel once I finish it.
Reviews are starting
Well, I guess the big complain now is that the Boss Battles are pretty much Thing Puzzles; If you got it, great; if not, Game Over. Other than that, everything else looks great. Oh, and that SMB3 Stage looks like it took the Super Paper Mario. ability of 2D to 3D and applied it there. [editline]6th October 2016[/editline]
holy shit
Wow, and here I though I knew everything about Wind Waker.
Metroid Prime: Federation Force seems to be a massive flop. Only 30,000 units sold worldwide. (for comparison, a game that is actually considered fairly rare on the 3DS, Cave Story 3D, sold nearly 5 times as much at 140,000 units, or 9 times better in the US than Federation Force). For another comparison, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire outsold it entirely in the second week of September, nearly two years after it was released. If this was any game company studio not associated with Nintendo, it'd probably have gone bankrupt on the spot.

So Boogie2988 dropped some NX info during a Q and A panel: Starts at the 35 minute mark:
- info on the NX comes from two people that have interacted with system, with one specifically from Ubisoft - programming for the NX is 'very nice' and 'a dream' - Ubisoft contact says the NX is a great concept - Assassin's Creed is used by Boogie as an example of a gameplay concept, but not confirmed as coming to NX - in the example, you have a unit attached to your TV where you play the Assassin's Creed console game - then you can detach the unit and play the Assassin's Creed mobile game on the go - another person that has used with the NX says it's as innovative as they had hoped for and wished they came up with the idea
