General Nintendo Discussion V5 - The Future of Nintendo

I'm liking the matte black and slightly more "serious" aesthetic to the console compared to the Wii aesthetic. Just how it was going to look was one of the things I was most curious about.

Nintendo got you covered, buddy.
I'd sooner use the controller I bought and not have to shell out another 40-50 buckaroos if possible.
It's called nintendo switch because it turned me on
Seriously the reveal is waaaaay better than the WiiU reveal, i have high hopes for this console

True, hopefully my Wii Controllers are compatible.
Mario Switch looks like 3D World 2, just set in the world of Samba de Amigo (Mexico)
Yes that's the joke I made :v:
That being said I just noticed there's a Mario 64 HP Refresh on the right of the long jump scene

Here's a link as I have no idea how to embed on Facepunch
Oh cool they'll actually have good games on release, looks like they are coming out swinging this time.
Oh man I'm super excited for this console. I'm only hoping third party support is better this time around
If third party support is good I might just pick this up. It's a home console AND a portable tablet console. Color me impressed Nintendo.
Let's just hope they when they port the inevitable Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, they keep all the DLC characters, and not a Wii U-exclusive.

If they throw out a new version of Smash with all of the DLC characters included and add a few new ones + stages I am so in.
Also a new Hyrule Warriors. I would eat that shit up so hard.
I wonder how BC is going to work if any. Or they are just going to rerelease all the first party Nintendo games from Wii U as special "For Switch" versions.

Just snap on the Wii U Disc Drive-Con peripheral! Sure it makes the system literally twice as wide, but now you can play all your favorite Wii U retail titles! :^)
(Only $69.99)
this is either gonna take off like the second coming of the original Wii in terms of popularity, or this might be Nintendo's Sega Saturn/Dreamcast.
I'm still really interested in this thing, but man this could be a really bumpy ride.
I just really hope that the whole starting lineup isn't just "Replay your favorite Wii U games" and Remember that game you played years ago? Nintendo now has it!
I wonder if the screen has a touchscreen?
Some official images, including a slightly better look at the game card.

I'm going to touch the screen anyway
"Switch to Nintendo"
There's the Nintendo marketing I remember.

Since this is a console-handheld hybrid it is competing against the both worlds; on one side there is PS4 and Xbox (old and new), and on the other side smartphones and already very successful Nintendo 3DS. The sales numbers will be... interesting.
It's everything I wanted and more. Come on, March, get here already!

I still think that the reveal trailer for the Wii/Revolution is a work of art.

The more I think about it, the more I'm not a fan of some of this thing's design decisions, however. I hate to dwell on this, but the fact that the sticks aren't symmetrical really bothers me, because that causes a couple problems.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One controller sticks aren't symmetrical and that's kinda been considered as the best controller standard by a lot of people.

But... they are like that on every controller in existence except for the PS and Wii U Pro Controller.

Works more than fine for the Xbox.
Yeah, but we lose quite a bit of parity between the JoyCons in P1/P2 mode by doing so. It seems like a really inelegant design. It also doesn't add up with the trend Nintendo had in Gen8, where pretty much all their controller configs had the right stick in a top position, which I felt worked a lot better.
I've always greatly preferred the stick to be under the face buttons tbh.

Uhhh, no? It's the exact opposite, if the sticks were symmetrical than in the 2 player mode one player would have the stick on the right side. It's like that precisely to have that parity between the 2 controllers with the sticks being on the same side.

On the contrary, if the sticks were symmetrical both players could rotate their controllers counter-clockwise and get the sticks, shoulder buttons, and -/+ on the left and the diamonds on the right. Here only the stick and diamond stay in the same spot because P2 has to rotate their controller clockwise. On top of that, P2's stick is now further in and the diamond is closer to the edge, which wouldn't be the case if the sides were symmetrical.
