That Exiled Greatsword looks really close to the Large Sword of Searching. I always liked that weird "jagged hunk of scrap metal with a stick tied to it" aesthetic.

[sp] Oh yeah percussion mallets as weapons. Musical build incoming! Jokes aside those hammers look extremely fun[/sp]
Interesting looks.

YEEESSSS, looks like my Lancer Jormund build is returning for an encore. This is EXACTLY what I wanted.
I'm probably the only person who thinks the actual O&S fight in general is overrated.
As I recall, they're the first and one of the few dual bosses in DS1, which made them exciting. I liked their aesthetic and styles and all that, but they're hardly the best fight in DS1 or any sort of highlight for the game. Compared to the number of multi-opponent bosses DS2 threw at you, you appreciated O&S a little more for being an exception rather than a rule. That's about it though. I liked the theme.
Does anyone here honestly care about spoilers?
Spoilers make me more hype for the game since I enjoy game play more than fantasizing about lore and story.

fallen knight + witch hat will be my outfit to roll with for fashion souls.
Not sure if this is really a spoiler but, looks like there are 2 "greatswords" now. The one in the network test, and the ds2 variant. My guess is the ds2 one is going to have a much higher str requirement, and weigh much more, maybe even be slower.

Those hammers look so fucking lame for some reason lmao, it'd hurt to get hit by them but it's not menacing at all. Jagged fucksword and pretty regular lance make weird double sticks look kinda lame.

I'll beat the drums and then your face in with my giant drumsticks boi

Haha in all seriousness they look quite technical. That spin move looks pretty nicely animated and weighty
Maybe looking non-intimidating is an advantage? Like the opposite of seeing someone turn up with an ultra greatsword and knowing instantly that they're beta male pussies, unlike us greatsword users (bonus points for claymore)

Speak for yourself, I can't wait to beat people into the ground with my spicy, fire-infused maracas.
Aw yes, witch armor. That'll be good for fashioning.
Still, I keep seeing people go on about their plans for builds, but for my first run I just plan to be the most generic knight possible with the most generic greatsword and shields, just like I did in Dark Souls 1 and 2.
Still weird to see all these spoiler tags in this thread and the games' wiki. These games barely have a story compared to something like witcher or elder scrolls. That's part of the reason I like them.
half the fun of these games is exploring a weird unknown world and if you know exactly what's coming up, well then what's the fun in that
Invaded Maximillian Dood while he was streaming the Ivory King DLC on Twitch. :v:

The first invasion starts at 1:56:21, and the second invasions starts at 2:28:16

I like how he thought you were a NPC Invader the first time and got pretty salty after the second invasion.

Apparently having a name that's not "xxX_420invader_Xxx" makes a lot of people think you're an NPC. :v:
But how will you defend yourself from all those hacker accusations?

Realistically speaking though; they look like something that'd be very lethal in real medieval combat against armored opponents.

Looks way too big for a realistic fight. A mace will do the same job adequately.

Just looked at the picture again. You're right.
They could use a bit of downscaling to be actually functional as weapons. Unless they'd originally been meant for a taller humanoid, which has been quite common in Dark Souls.
Shout out to Skipcast, who has been far too generous towards me by far. I owe you big time and I promise I'll settle that debt.
Also to Midna; Skippy got to me first, but I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Incidentally, gentlemen, I shall now be able to enjoy Miyazaki's last Souls game as well as its DLC with the rest of you when they launch.
Suddenly the four weeks between now and then are so much harder to endure patiently.

That was my problem with greatswords in DS2, they made them anime huge to the point where they're not even intimidating, they just look fucking retarded. Ultra greatswords especially were already far larger that any human could possibly use but they went and made them almost twice the size of your character. It feels like it was designed by a 14 year old in 1998, "I'll make a sword like the Buster Sword, only even bigger!"

Oh man. The titular "Greatsword" in DS2. It had a perfect size in DS1. But in DS2 they made comically large.
And overall: The Greatword in DS1 was a weapon for Berenike knights, whom were a lot stronger. Same as the Zweihander stating that it requires inhuman strenght.
Then DS2 makes the Greatsword 10 units heavier and the size of a small car stating "No human was intended to wield a sword of this weight or destructivenes", but since two-handing halves the strength requirement for weapons; you see it used by so many players.
B-Team apparently failing to realize that double strenght by two-handing stupidly implies strenght to stem from a persons arms, although one would need a hell-of-a-lot of core-strenght to wield something so absurdly large.

The Zweihander in Dark Souls 1 was larger than the one shown in these videos, but not by much; and it certainly handled appropriately for what you'd imagine its weight would be with an increased size. The sword's really as tall as a man.

Yeah, and in DS2 they were made almost twice as large. The Greatsword in DS2 has more mass than the character wielding it. I was saying greatswords and Ultra-greatswords in DS1 were fine and DS2 made them stupid.
The closest thing to the ultra-greatswords in DS2 is the Dragon Bone Smasher from Demon's Souls, and that was a weapon which was used to make fun of the stupidly large and unwieldy swords you see in anime.
People give a shit about unrealistic weapons in souls games? Yeah, those trick weapons in bloodborne are so feasible. Smough's hammer is just a joke weapon so it's fine, ds2 greatsword is Hitler for some reason though. Demon's Greathammer/axe is fine but greatsword is not. Dragon Bone Smasher is awesome and badass! Fuck the greatsword though. Meat Cleaver?

the problem is that the Greatsword looked fine in 1 and then they animed it up in 2 for no reason, not that anime-sized weapons exist in the series in general. I never used it anyway so I don't care myself
