I wouldn't say that was stable. They had an FPS counter on screen, and it dropped by as much as 10FPS at some parts. And they were running a GTX 980, they said. Kind of a bad sign.
So here's hoping a few more optimization passes are done before the final release. Given the visuals we've seen, I'd dare to say a 770 should be able to run it at 60FPS easy, maybe a 780, on maxed settings. Those cards do exceed their 'recommended' specs, anyway.

I only watched 5-10mins, didn't want to spoil too much for me. Hopefully its an early build, if its newer one this could be a bad port.

Drakeblood knight armor and a lot of rolling. I also tend to play defensively, baiting players into entering my melee range and absolutely destroying them with followup swings. As for casters, I psych them until they try to cast in melee range, dodge and finish them in just a couple of swings most of the time.

Late but I'm not saying everything should be a oneshot, just saying I'd like the great variety already present in the game to be useful for more than joke challenge runs or do anything but cripple you.
Sure some things should be harder than others and some things are obviously meant to not be viable, but having this cool looking weapon or this amazing looking spell be jack shit useless always ticked me off.

That said, I don't want every weapon to be equally strong, that'd defeat the purpose of variety. I'd like every (actual) weapon (i.e not broken sword hilts), even more basic ones, to be viable, even if they aren't the best in their class.

The dagger was (not sure if it still is, I haven't seen it used lately) a PVP meta for backstab fishers because of its crazy crit damage.
Broken sword hilt is actually an awesome gimmick build-- it has a fast attack with some degree of poise damage, and takes almost no stamina to swing, so it's awesome for poison or bleed builds (although claws are great for that too)

I guess that goes to show you that nothing is ever truly useless. Not even wooden ladles. Just raw infuse them.
I remember my brother having good success with a mundane broken thief sword. I forgot exactly what made it good, but he got a lot of dragon eye wins from it.
Honestly what I really like about ds2 is how flexible you can be. SM bracketing encourages me to just dump all my souls into levels, and as a result I can do basically whatever I want on the same character, as long as I'm okay with pvp at the iron bridge...
Not to defend sm because goddamnit it makes invasions and summoning a pain in the ass
