Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

Hope they bring back the same voice actor for Andre in DS1. It's funny really, thinking back to the first time playing and I remember Andre was the first guy you meet that actually seems approachable (apart from Solaire of course), unlike that crestfallen weirdo. He's jolly as fuck
I understand that it screws with the lore though. Patches turns up in all the games but that's a general From Soft thing. Still, seeing as we've already seen firelink returning, this might not be the last callback
Also sword sheathes should come back
apparently the upgradable stats are (according to the youtube guy):
Vigor
Focus Power(Concentration)
Endurance
Vitality
Strength
Dexterity
Intelligence
Faith
Luck•
regarding the one in bold, I feel like that is the stat that will be upgradable to increase your maximum MP?
Sweet, they're bringing back the Luck stat from Demon's Souls.
New vid, looks like the very first boss of the game.

Looks like the player immediately turned human (or rather, ember restored) after defeating the boss. Seems to be following Demon's Souls old mechanic.
You have to level up at the firekeeper again.
Sigh.
i think this is the biggest thing people complain about that i don't mind whatsoever
i like having to go back to the hub to level up because it forces me to talk to everyone, discover new dialogue, new people, etc. i could see it being annoying if we didn't have the ability to fast travel from the start, but you can literally fast travel from the start. why is it such a big problem?
if it was dark souls 1 and you were stuck in blight town and had to travel all the way back to firelink shrine to level up then yeah that would suck super hard
It just means more waifus and we could always use more waifus. :v:

It just occurred to me that with Andre's out-of-place friendly attitude to the player, and with all his talk about how weapons don't betray you (implying people do), and being one of the few NPCs who often refer to the hollows and madmen roaming about Lordran, that Andre has probably seen his fair share of undead pass him by and use his services. He also might have befriended them all, just like how he treats you. But of course, they all went hollow. So when you show up, he doesn't really expect anything different; he's seen it a million times. He probably expects you to go crazy and attack him at some point. Every time you say bye to him, he always asks, almost begs for you to to not go hollow.
Must be lonely.

If that screenshot actually depicts Andre, I wonder what he'd be like. Would he be his friendly self, or will he be more bitter and jaded?
I remember my first dark soul experience was mistaking andre for an enemy and him going kublai khan on my ass

Reminds me of someone I knew from school who thought his DS2 had glitched and let him see Ancient Dragon through the fog gate, so he fired an arrow at him, causing the fog gates to appear and forcing him to kill it to finish his first playthrough.

You have reason enough to return to the hub in Dark Souls II, without forcing me to level up there. The blacksmith, armor vendor, life gem vendor, and paths to most major levels are there. Having to sit through a load screen to level up is just tedious.
But, yeah, waifus and whatnot.

I wonder if it'll be like Demon's Souls where Luck is useful for exactly one build and useless for everything else.

Seeing how there is a stat named FP and labeled blue, I assume yes.

Or it's the dedicated Facepunch™ stat, who knows.
I'm willing to put 5 dollars on the table if daggers/dual swords have that blade arts for quick stepping a ring or something will bring back the quick flips and shit at the cost of FP

"Heir of Fire Destroyed?" Is this going to be the new "You Defeated" or the story driven "Nightmare Slain?" The new defeat message looks too specific to be normal.
Methinks that Andre is gonna be a big part in this, since in the Dark Souls Design Works book, it was revealed that [sp]Andre was the God of War, son of Lord Gwyn that was banished and his name forgotten.[/sp] That or he's like Patches and is just a callback to the last game.
tbh going to literally cry if boss arena's aren't PVPable in vanilla souls 3
[sp]Andre was the God of War, son of Lord Gwyn that was banished and his name forgotten.[/sp]
What in the fuck, the [sp]God of War[/sp] sits around making my weapons better? Jesus.
Designs Works explained Andre was originally a relative to Gwyn during the planning stages but was later cut and then re-used as a blacksmith. So that part of the story is no longer canon.
He was also supposed to move the statue in Firelink Shrine so you could reach the Kiln of the First Flame. A lot of stuff was changed as the game was in development.
Did you know, the centipede demon was originally supposed to appear as the boss you fight on top of the church before the gargoyles were added to the game?
What in the fuck, the [sp]God of War[/sp] sits around making my weapons better? Jesus.
The reason they kept the Firstborn lore despite the changes is unknown, but now the identity of the Firstborn in THIS version is still up in the air, even if evidence points to [sp]Solaire. Solaire himself is supposedly just a normal guy who went nuts and really did want to become a bright, yellow sun.[/sp]

That one isn't really hard to see why. It would have been a bit whack to fight centipede demon on top of the church.
One piece of cut content that I would have loved to see make it in was the ring that made the ghosts in New Londo ignore you.

Which reminds me, remember the very first trailer for Dark Souls?

That was a ficking demon army in the Demon Ruins! Plus two Capra Demons in the church leading to the First Bell of Awakening. I'm gonna take a stab and say that there was gonna be a massive demon outbreak and you had to stop it from getting to Anor Londo.
If I had to guess, I think they toned down the whole "demons" aspect because it would have been too thematically similar to Demon's Souls. It also would have given the game too clear an antagonist, which is something that I don't think Miyazaki wanted plot-wise.
A little late but my feelings on leveling up at the Firekeeper depend entirely on if i have to skip past a bunch of dialogue first in order to do it.

What is it? Dost thou seek Soul Power?
So be it. After all thou requireth strength.
Go forth; touch the demon inside me.
Let these ownerless souls become thine own.
Bearer of the curse.
Seek souls. Larger, more powerful souls.
Seek the King, that is the only way.
Lest this land swallow you whole. As it has so many others.
Welcome home, good Hunter.
What is it you desire?
Very well, let the echoes become your strength.
3 generations of it. :v:

Can anyone see if the firekeeper/level upper has any mouth movement? I can't really tell.
The enemy placement in Scholar of the First Sin is so fucking bad.
