Maybe so. But the fact that it was your first Souls game explains why you like it more than the first.

I just feel like the animations in Souls 1 feel like the weapons have more weight and impact, even if the textures are kind of bad.
That is pretty true actually. They felt more impact, 2 just felt like paperweight
Covenant spoilers: [sp]Losaria's Fingers are the new Darkwraiths. Losaria is mentioned in the Red Eye Orb.[/sp]
[sp]I don't think i can help myself from saying something related to being "Fingered" as soon as i invade or get invaded.
I wonder why you see a Darkwraith with the orb then, that is indeed curious. Different branch? The Darkwraith Business sure is going places.[/sp]
Oh god, Oroboro's gonna be streaming the full game on wednesday. Help.

I think at that point it'll be time to peace out for anyone who wants to avoid spoilers at all costs. Knowing my past luck with new releases, some dipship is going to go and intentionally list off spoilers in all caps as a thread title somewhere and I'm going to end up seeing everything and become full of regret.
I guess when that time comes I'll scratch the itch by helping strangers in Souls1.
Blame Ken Ashcorp for getting 'The Legend Never Dies' stuck in my head. It just fits the Dark Souls PVP scene so well.
Recorded the first stanza earlier today, and now I'm going to bed. Good night, FP.

Ashcorp's song is so cringey I can't listen to it for more than a minute without my face scrunching up like a raisin.
If DS2 was a janky game then DS1 was slightly less janky. It still had a lot of issues.
I still prefer DS1 ofc but you can't go around dumping on DS2 and act like DS1 is a godsend when half of the lategame is rushed to shit and half finished.
I really couldn't care who directs DS3, I just want them to actually 100% finish the game before putting it out.

All of Ashcorp's songs cause me pained grimaces. The whole giantdad thing was a parody to begin with, yet the song basically plays it straight as an arrow and it's just awful.
Where as in Dark Souls 2 those massive swords were swung around like they were made of cardboard and not solid metal.
The problem was them not using the screen shake/sounds from DaS1, when you swing something like the zwei or dragon tooth in the first game, the screen shakes and you hear that loud thud. It feels heavy. DaS2 has none of the screen shake or sound, It's why the Smelter Hammer feels weak in comparison to DaS1's dragon tooth, despite the smelter hammer being heavier, and having more attack power. Screen shake makes all the difference.

How's my Pyromancy run fashion?
I feel like the redeeming quality of DS2 was how fluid and smooth everything felt.
... What?
... What?
Dark Souls 1 was "snappy" with its movement, whereas DS2 was smoother.
Admittedly; movement in DS2 had good flow. Albeit it was annoying to not be able to follow up a roll with a rolling attack in the opposite direction.
Then there is the souls-like that failed horribly with movement (Lords of the Fallen), which is really similar to the Souls-series, except that it feels like being in control of a character in a Souls-game who's drinking hard liquor in lieu of Estus.

It had nothing whatsoever to do with screen shake and everything to do with the speed of the swing and the animation. Watch the videos I linked earlier, the Souls 2 character handles that comically large sword like it's made of plastic.

You kidding? It totally drops the serious act after the 'legend never dies' reveal.

It really is just the animation involved dude.
I get what you're saying, but screen shakes never really do make the difference and if anything would get annoying as shit after a while too, which is probably why they removed it in the first place.
Like the only game in recent memory that had the screen do something unique when you hit somebody was DmC and that was just a close-up on each hit as you were about to kill an enemy after a wave perfectly. I don't remember any other third person games that does a screen shake for anything other than the boss attacking you.
For SFX, your guess is as good as mine as to why they changed it, I dunno.
Ayy boys all ready to fuckin GO

Is there even an English localization for the Japanese version of the game?
At the very least everyone will be talking in English.

I'm sure OnlyAfro absolutely regrets making that meme by this point.

Is there a reason why every Souls game is voiced only in english across all regions despite being a japanese game? Even some of their other games like Metal Wolf Chaos are like that.

Huh, I didn't know that. But I think it has something to do with Miyazaki's fascination for Western dark fantasy.

Well Metal Wolf Chaos makes sense, since it's patriotism incarnate.
Otherwise for the Souls games, authenticity? Dunno maybe it might seem to be immersion breaking if medieval/Victorian people spoke Japanese or whatever, and Miyazaki is all about immersion.

Nah, just voice. There's translated UI resources on reddit and stuff and if I get really stumped there's the google translate app on my phone to help me out.
So IGN, who had promised to upload 60FPS video of Dark Souls 3 gameplay by Monday, finally uploaded a video in which they spoil the name and appearance of the first boss in the title and thumbnail, and while the footage is of the PC version, the video itself is in 30FPS.
:goodjob:
You guys best stay off YouTube from now on if you're afraid of being spoiled.

Probably to really sell the whole Western fantasy aesthetic.
Probably because they had no money.
Japanese voice actors are like their god, and the pay is very high
Korewa chosenu andedu?
Baka desu yo artoriasu
i like it better with english voice actors anyways
it doesn't feel like they half-assed it looking for english voice actors that "sound" like the character but doen't actually have the feel
same shit goes down in the english translations for korean cartoons and visual novels too

the temptation is quite high thou
on the topic of korean cartoons, i just hope that katanas actually keep the quality of fragile and fast instead of fast and able to chop a havel down in 5 seconds tops.
shit even using the washing pole with that durability shit 3 hits were all you needed out of that 20 durability
