I beat dark souls 3 friends. did the last boss first go oops. do not use the fucking [sp]fume ultra greatsword. so cheap.
and I got the alternate ending by accident??? oops haha. I snuffed out the flame instead of linking it.[/sp]
[editline]29th March 2016[/editline]
all up, that sword does fucking [sp]733 damage for me. realistically well over 1000 for heavy hits. dumb. I became too strong. [/sp]
is ds3 rolling threshold based like ds1 or a scale like ds2?
be a man and just keep going, i got cursed in depths and went through all of blighttown and queelags domain with half hp and it makes you a better person
I actually want to enjoy this game though. Everything I've read/seen about DS3 looks perfect, this not so much.

its not that bad though? its a challenge yes but when you manage it you feel great about it. the boss in the depths is a piece of piss, the only problem in blighttown is the poison and once you get the layout sorted and you get to the bottom its fine. having half hp got me better at dodging x100, you'll be proud once you get through it

actually wait no isn't there a shortcut back to firelink through valley of the drakes and old londo at the top of blighttown? I cant mind

Don't know if this is worth spoilering, just info on rolling speeds that I found from playing the PS4 version.
[sp]Seems to be under 30% is fast roll, under 70% for medium roll. I can't tell if there's a scale, didn't bother testing too much. By the way the rolling feels like demon's souls or dark souls speed and huge i-frames, bloodborne players will be at home.[/sp]

[sp] Everybody and their goddamn mother are using the Fume sword, it's incredible how good that weapon is considering that ds2 was still great[/sp]
Also ds3 bosses in general rant so spoiler
[sp] Fromsoft just had to stroke so much for full phase 2 with full lifebar, didn't they. They're still beatable but it leaves a sour taste having to deal with a janky camera against a dragon that keeps flying to bosses that have wombo combos and absurd follow ups. I get it, they ARE cool but think about common sense please[/sp]

When a status effect that can instantly kill you and then punishes you further after death is only curable through one item which costs quite a bit (unless you go all the way to the belltower and even then why should I have to grind) considering its only the start of the game then yes, that is pretty bad. Between this and the layout of the levels I'm wondering how Dark Souls 2 could have been any worse other than it being too easy by comparison.
I've heard Demon Souls is better and even the devs admitted to faults in Dark Souls 1 so it's not like I'm talking out of my ass. Even the first Capra fight makes more sense than the way they treated the curse effect.
Maybe it's just not the game for me but I started playing DS1 because DS3 sounds like the kind of game I've wanted to play for a long time.

even with a second phase they're too easy though
are twinblades still in ds3?
are twinblades still in ds3?
[sp]yes[/sp]
even with a second phase they're too easy though
Funny but it's true. You spend time getting used to the first phase and eventually you can beat it without getting hit once, happened to me with both[sp]Nameless and Soul.[/sp] Then you hit the second phase and have to get used to that. After that it's a bit more of an endurance battle, how well do you really know the bosses? I actually really liked the 2 phase bosses in the game
I know most of us are DS1/2 veterans but a lot of the DS3 bosses felt challenging and yet not any more challenging than past bosses in the series. Obviously familiarity with the past games is going to affect that
even with a second phase they're too easy though
Now that you mention it, it is true. I guess being salty isn't making me any better on that, i always screw up on second phase even with all estus.
So i've been playing DS1 for the first time to wait for DS3. Wow fuck both Sen's fortress and Blighttown.
I'm replaying DS1 atm and I can say with certainty, after a couple playthroughs, Sen's isn't nearly as frustrating. Blighttown is still always cancer though.

like, the very last boss in the game [sp]is a double lifebar phase 2. but i beat him my first go accidentally not really expecting too. i don't feel like i overlevelled, i almost never grinded, i just collected items and explored. i didn't do anything the game didn't let me do. but i still destroyed that guy. i was level 97 when i beat it[/sp]
[editline]29th March 2016[/editline]
i almost felt like he would have had [sp]a 3rd phase. but he just sort of died. at the very least a True last boss after him? not that i unlocked. and i got the alternate ending.[/sp]

The style is reminiscent of Bloodborne, where all the bosses also have a second phase. I really like that they brought this in, makes every boss fight have an escalating intensity, the best thing is that much like in Bloodborne the soundtrack switches on the second phase too.
[sp]But yeah the bosses are pretty easy comparatively speaking. Their health pools are tiny.[/sp]
summary of the dark souls 1 blind run I've been watching on twitch:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/nXNP15j.png[/t]
more from this stream, since I can't stop watching trainwrecks:
"dark souls is a really elitist community"
"I hate it when people come in here [twitch chat] and brag about beating a boss, it's like they're taunting me"
"Summoning to me is worse than cheesing" (as he was shooting manus from behind the fog gate)
He broke a controller on smough and ornstein after spending 16 hours and over 200 deaths on the fight, and ignored chat's suggestions to buy a wired controller-- the next day he couldn't stream because the new xbone controller wouldn't connect
For some reason he has it in his head that true dark souls players never summon, play blind, and just "git gud" naturally, and refuses to change from that opinion-- in fact lately he's been giving other people shit for summoning. He said something about letting people do pvp later on so I'm kinda hoping to get in on that

Yeah for me he was a lot more difficult haha.[sp]Died at least six times. His lance mode with the healing was the worst, while his magic homing soulmass being able to persist into other modes was annoying as well. I beat him at level 90, about 30 VIT and 36 Str? Claymore +10. Flash sweat helped the most
Did you record your kill? I'd be surprised if you didn't get caught by his phase 2 ultimate wombo combo at least once, it took me ages to get used to dodging away from that one[/sp]

i'm on xbone so i have no idea how the recording works so no.
[sp]but its really no wonder i wrecked him. 27 vit, 54 strength, 28 endurance, fume greatsword, increased iframe ring. it is not my fault the game gave all these things to me. i went in first go expecting it to be hard and to need them and uh, oops.[/sp]

[sp] That wombo combo startup has the dickish delay, i beat him after my 3rd try, definitely didn't get used to its moveset. [/sp]
Was looking at few streams for ds3 and seems to be a lot complaining about the last boss being underwhelming in difficulty. Not sure why last bosses have to be the most difficult for some people.
Guess they never played Demon's.

DarkSoulsPhil I think. If not then we've got a new contender.

clamtaco on twitch, he's streaming for another few hours
to his credit he's much more friendly than DSP, just uh...yeah
The guy's just trying to be hard. You can't argue against the whole "ds is an elitist community", the amount of chodes who go 'you're not a real boy if you don't do solo ng+7 0&s with no shields and no weapons fatroll' is impressive.
I'm over here just co-oping every single boss in every single game so when I find someone like that I just laugh in their fucking faces lmao
To be honest, I like such people, so long as they aren't trying to make other people play the way they do. Dark Souls is a franchise meant to make you challenge yourself. If the game gets too easy and you aren't handicapping yourself, the fun eventually drains out of it.
well he's at the point where he absolutely hates the game because of his self-imposed rules...anytime anything goes wrong in the game now he just goes on a tirade about how much better ds2 is. It's kinda sad to see
