I now have +9 threaded cane, going to be +10 once I get my hands on the blood rock. It was hard at first and I totally know how it feels like it doesn't do enough damage to start with, but god it gets SO MUCH BETTER.

Also, winter lanterns are an incredible enemy. Annoying, but incredible.

[sp]when I realized the winter lanterns were actually an amalgamtion of the doll and the messengers I shat myself[/sp]

I find they're among the most frustrating gameplay wise.
Praise the SUN! and do it again
I might, I'd like to atleast. What's the most optimal way to clear to NG+2? I would assume a generic strength build.

They're a pain in the ass to fight, definitely, but I almost get the impression they're trying to get you to sneak past them, what with the preponderance of cover in the areas they're found. It's just a shame that stealth doesn't really work all that we'll in this game unless you're using blue elixir.
They're all in areas where you can avoid line of sight with them(except maybe the ones in the cave at the fishing hamlet).
I think you only *have* to kill two of them and one is the one guarding the gift of the messengers and the other is the one guarding the the choir bell. The one guarding the choir bell you can easily kill with the blacksky eye and the other you need to CQC and you better not let it touch because you can not heal before frenzy sets in

I breezed through the early game with the threaded cane. Yes, you tickle enemies to death, but you take almost no damage in return if you position yourself correctly.
The reiterpallasch is pretty amazing, though. That and the rifle spear makes a lot of bosses trivial.

About half to two thirds of the way through the game with Dark Souls 2, same with Bloodborne. I am trying to beat both by the time Dark Souls 3 releases, and so far, so good.
Magic in Dark Souls 2, especially, makes a lot of enemies very easy to fight. I think I found my favorite playstyle to stick with in Dark Souls 3.

go for agility + Str and Uchigatana till NG+4
How are folks already playing DSIII? I'm quite jelly.
Anybody?
Anybody?
They're playing the japanese console version.
As a starting weapon it's pretty bad compared to others, useful for hitting boss hitboxes and stuff though. I would highly recommend you switch.
Threaded Cane isn't really that much weaker than the other trick weapons. It does more damage in its whip form due to having bonus damage against beasts.
They're playing the japanese console version.
or the PC demo which is playing till Undead Burg in DS1
Or playing the fully localised Xbox version that you get messing about with a Japanese copy.
God I hate that they gave the game to streamers to play. It's hard enough to avoid spoilers without my entire Twitch following thing being full of stills of the game. Letting people play it a week early I can understand, but almost a month before the game is released? That's just cruel.

simple dont watch them :P
missing npc question:
[sp]trying to get Seigward on ng+1, i fought the demon with him, got the 2 gestures, get to the well at cathederal and he isnt there. what have i missed?[/sp]
Figured it out! for anyone else whos lost:
[sp]need to get the firekeeper soul from top of firelink shrine and give to the handmaiden, then i got to the cathederal of deep bonfire, went back to shrine and patches was in position. spoke to him, back to cathederal nothing in well. killed decons of the deep boss, went back to well and seigward was there! back to patches to buy his armour, then you can either keep it, or give it back to seigward to carry on the quest. and thats as far as i have got[/sp]
I dunno, it feels like they're totally missing the point of the feeling and presentation of Dark Souls. It's not supposed to be an action-packed hack and slash thriller, which is what this is looking like to be. No one in the media business seems to get this.
I mean, personally, I've always had an idea for a Demon's Souls animation (I got no way to make this mind you, was just something I thought up) of this incredibly fast paced fight between the Demon Slayer and King Allant set to Blind Guardian's Ride Into Obsession
My idea isn't meant to echo the feeling of souls, but it's meant to represent my own feelings and rage trying to beat that boss fight over and over for the first time. Somehow Allant gave me a ton of trouble, dunno why.
So maybe this dude is going for something like that?
simple dont watch them :P
Because YouTube knows I like dark souls I've had to completely stop using it to avoid spoilers in video previews
simple dont watch them :P
That's not the issue. The problem is sometimes these videos have spoilery titles and/or thumbnails.
So what do I do with the dragon that keeps roasting my ass on the bridge? I managed to sneak through it by going under it and getting to the area with the pig and I found the shortcut that takes me back to firelink but I'm not sure what to do now.
Should I have upgraded my weapons by now? I managed to beat the black knight in a battle of attrition but I can't tell if the weapons in this game are straight upgrades or if they're all viable like in BB.
The good news is I'm actually enjoying this game now, not as much as BB but only 5 estus flasks really forces me to git gud.
What's the timing for parries? I was an ace at them in BB but I can't get them right here

The game got released a week ago though :s
you can literally go buy it for xbox one now and play in full english

go upstairs in the church with the shortcut and find the boss. Find the basement key in the church area and use it to open the door near where you met solaire (the end of the bridge opposite to the dragon) to progress further.
Also upgrade a weapon you feel fine using and disregard the dragon for now unless you want a multiplayer covenant.

A week from Monday. That's what I keep telling myself.
One week from Monday.

The game came out in Japan. You have to switch your region to Japan if you want to get it early, which doesn't count as "released a week ago".
I'm also getting the game on PC.
Spoiler warning, video contains areas and bosses

Not the kind of trailer I'd expect for the kind of game that dark souls 3 is yet here you have an 80's styled trailer.

i like the idea but i would have much preferred something kinda like a dark Disney movie on VHS or maybe even a weird campy He-Man throwback
So I'm working on Bloodborne, might start a final Dark Souls 2 run, and am looking at a possible coop playthrough of Dark Souls 1 with a friend who got cockblocked in Anor Londo, while occassionally watching Dark Souls 3 streams. My life belongs to Miyazaki at this point.
Does the "Make Contact" gesture in Bloodborne actually mean anything maritime-wise?
Does the "Make Contact" gesture in Bloodborne actually mean anything maritime-wise?
It's for making contact with the great ones, when you meet one that can't attack you, use it to get a gift
