Does the "Make Contact" gesture in Bloodborne actually mean anything maritime-wise?
Maritime? Wouldn't see how it would help like that.
There's been some theories that it is supposed to help with contact with aliens because if you connect the fingertips, it forms a Pythagorean triangle and would demonstrate that your species could understand maths.

Isn't it used to spell letters and shit?

Yup

So in the gesture you're really just doing a P and a J.

That's why I figure it's got nothing to do with those particular signals. The triangle theory's a nice one, though.

It's still possible the pose itself was based on semaphore, just not meant to translate to anything.
Or more likely they just made it up entirely and everything's coincidental :v:

The interesting thing about 'Make Contact' is that several NPCs react positively only when the player character switches their arms about a minute into the gesture. The Mensis brain gives you the highest tier of Moon rune, the doll claps... which has led people to believe that only the pose with the right arm raised and the left arm stretched out is the 'correct' Make contact pose.
It's possible. I just assumed it was because you completed the "ritual" or whatever it's called. Not that one is necessarily the correct one.
I didn't know the doll reacted to it though.
To be fair the doll reacts to a lot of gestures. She either bows in respect if you do something normal like bow to her, looks confused if you do something weird, and claps if you do something that makes you look like a retard

For all we know, the make contact gesture really just means "peace among worlds" if you know what I mean
"Lord Amygdala, come quick. this cleric is proclaiming he's a homosexual"

Oh, I only knew about bowing to her. I guess I just never payed enough attention.
God I hate that they gave the game to streamers to play. It's hard enough to avoid spoilers without my entire Twitch following thing being full of stills of the game. Letting people play it a week early I can understand, but almost a month before the game is released? That's just cruel.
I'm not really that impressed by what I've seen so far. It seems kind of short, and it doesn't feel like they change things up enough between the games. I'm not a huge Souls fan or anything, though I like the games, but they're starting to look like the same exact game with just a different map and reskinned enemies now.

Well, the gameplay has to feel similar. They've enhanced it for Dark Souls 3, but mostly it's the same, because the gameplay is what has made the series such a success. Call of Duty's a shit franchise, but how well do you think the game would sell if they suddenly switched everything up, went and made their game a point and click adventure or something?
A week from Monday. That's what I keep telling myself.
One week from Monday.
Can you elaborate on why you're counting to Monday?

I see a lot of this, and it kind of makes me a bit sad. I love the souls games, but when they changed it up in Dark Souls 2, sure it was still good, but I didn't like it anywhere near as much as all the other games. I'm glad Dark Souls 3 is literally the 'same exact game with just a different map and reskinned enemies now', it's what I want. Of course I understand that other people may want different things but I just want more of the same. I might not have put that in the best words but I hope people get what I mean - I love souls, I want more souls, I don't want something else.
Played 50 hours already and I can say if you liked Dark Souls 1, Demon's Souls, or maybe Bloodborne (quite fast paced), you will enjoy Dark Souls 3. Best in the series to me. As much as I disliked 2 as well, 3 does take the best bits from it, so any fans of 2 are not left behind.
from's gameplay is just so good that i literally hope they release a game with the same core gameplay every few years for as long as i live

I can understand that, if the formula works for you then you wouldn't want it to change. I still like the series, it just means it's not really a day 1 pre-order for me anything, I can wait for a bit.

If you aren't super hyped and can wait, yeah it might be smart to wait for the equivalent sotfs edition and save some money.
if they pull another SOTFS I'm rioting
It's not like there's a next gen console to re-release it on this time. There's probably just going to be a GOTY edition with all the DLC
if they pull another SOTFS I'm rioting
[sp] I loved SOTFS [/sp]

I meant more if they decide a year later to sell effectively a game patch as an entirely new game with an entirely separate multiplayer, I'm rioting

P. much. It'll split the PC community, which was the main reason SOTFS was bad.

i thought it was bad because they fucked the contrast and gamma and added mouse acceleration and just truly awful enemy placement?
i thought it was bad because they fucked the contrast and gamma and added mouse acceleration and just truly awful enemy placement?
You mean people play Dark Souls with a mouse?
vanilla DS2 works really well with a mouse because it's generally a pretty good port
ds1 obv that doesn't fly though
Some people don't realize that SOTFS exists only for one reason, is to port DS2 for next-gen consoles, and that was Bamco's decision and fault that they decided to make it like that.
It is unlikely that there ever will be "SOTFS-like edition" for DS3.

Well...if rumors about PS4,5 are true, It may come to that

Sure, but, most likely, by the time another next-gen consoles will be there, they would see no need to port it after so much time.

Hopefuly time for Bloodborne sequel by that time
[editline]31st March 2016[/editline]
