Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

I finally killed that bastard hydra in darkroot.
It wasn't so much that it was a hard fight but I kept falling to my death and the last head was always this one on the right that goes all the way across to the other side and it's nearly impossible to hit with the sword and I ran out of bolts and arrows until I hung out on the rocks on the right for a small window to hit the neck.
Should I go to blighttown, new londo ruins, or the catacombs next? I can't seem to find my way into sen's fortress next so I assume I need to progress through one of those next
I just realized it comes out Monday afternoon, and right about the time it comes out I got class.
Balls.
Could be worse. I may not get it until Wednesday depending on how early it arrives to the mailroom.
80 is a bit steep for me as I rarely purchase games on release, I'm a "wait a year for it to drop" type, buttttt it's dark souls
If you have Amazon prime you can get it at a 20% discount. In case you didn't know

Nice one, hydra is so awkward to fight. You can go to londo ruins on a suicide run to get a firekeeper soul then promptly peace out to somewhere else
Yeah, the blighttown bell will open Sen's funhouse. Just make sure you go in prepared, it's one of the areas of the game where it's difficult to make your way out until you know the area
If any of you guys are hollowing with the wait for DS3, check This gem out, it's called Hyper Light Drifter.
Don't let the cutesy aesthetic, bright colors and pixel graphics fool you, this is a game worthy of a Dark Souls veteran. It'll help tide you over until the game's finally released.
Without using a single word in any language, it's managed to convey a story of a dying world, visions of some looming cataclysm that you must try to prevent, and the game takes you across the aftermaths of battles against giants the size of mountains, whose corpses lay scattered around the game world. It's very reminiscent of the corpses of drakes and dragons in Dark Souls.

The game's isometric, but has really tight controls and fast-paced combat. The protagonist has a maximum of five pips of health, and some enemy attacks take off two or more of those. So very much souls-like in difficulty. The enemy and boss designs are incredible, with the very familiar need to learn their movesets to avoid being damaged by them.
But the best part are the secrets. So many secrets to be found, all of them with just the merest hint for the keen eye to discover. These can be upgrade bits to unlock new abilities or upgrades, new outfits, and sometimes even weapons. Really been having fun with it over the last couple of days. Great music, great gameplay, great atmosphere. I highly recommend it.
The Fast paced combat of Hyper Light Drifter is somewhat dragged down by the fact the game is locked to 30fps for some reason but yeah, apparently the game is really quite good, I love the aesthetic. I've been wanting to try it out for quite some time, and now that it's finally out maybe I can get the devs to shoot me a key. I normally refuse to play games at 30fps but there are certain circumstances for extraordinary games where I will suffer through to enjoy the game anyway and HLD seems like a good candidate. It's probably an animation or engine reason or something.

Also only about a week left yaaaaay.

Generally I'm with you on insisting on 60FPS, but mostly only in a 3D game, or a brawler of some sort. When it's a game like this with sprites that are hand-drawn, 30 is fine, doesn't take much from the experience.

Would help screen scrolling, but that's about it. I just wish my time with it wasn't so damn buggy. Falling out of the world, walking out of bounds, having the character think he's on an edge in several places of solid ground, and having the map double icons up for objectives that also bugged out an NPC was super disappointing.
Played okay, though.

Odd. I didn't encounter any of that.

Oh yeah, totally agree with you in this instance, I hope that post didn't come off as antagonistic or anything. In other news, I still don't have the budget to buy Dark Souls 3 on Steam but I have another week to keep trying. I'm still excited regardless though, been able to avoid spoilers for the most part surprisingly and have only watched one stream (TB's) and the gameplay looks like it's just everything I loved about Demon's through DS2 polished to a mirror shine and it looks so satisfying, I can't wait. Hope the budget opens up a bit. Emergency surgery really fucks with money flow in a big way in America.
I got to India..I mean blighttown.
Why did they have to have both toxic and poison damage? The purple moss does nothing

When you travel to India you get lower fps irl.

lived there for a while, can confirm
lunch takes nearly two hours, everything moves slowly. Probably because there's so much constant chaos that has to get processed like the 80+ rickshaws trying to squeeze through an alley the width of a supermodels waist while monkeys scamper through the streets stealing food and finally you cannot forget that one fucking cow who decided to sit in the middle of the goddamn road on your commute into work
but hey who cares if you're late, give em a headwobble drink some tea and chat.
The frame rate drops get pretty substantial

Get the Dark souls achievement, have a git gud certificate.

Poison is pretty trivial, if you have enough health and can avoid getting hit, you don't even have to worry about it for the most part.
For toxicity you need the blooming purple moss.
Also if you have the Shadow armor set, use it. It has some nice pois/tox resistance.

Thinking back, I'm surprised at myself for dying in Blighttown only like 3 times where one of the deaths was perfectly flat piece of root, you can cross a gap over, that I "slipped". That place is still awful with all the poisonous shit while balancing on a fucking catwalks though.
Since Dark Souls III's release is right on the day of my degree and my mother suggested me to ask a family friend's for a videogames as a gift, is there a collector's edition of it for the PC? Or at the very least one with the season pass in it?
Reviews are going up now. Although the scores are just as positive as the previous games, it feels like the critics are starting to feel series fatigue.

Which is odd considering they don't seem to be fatigued at all by other franchises with almost yearly releases.

Nope, only EU and Australasia seems to be getting PC CEs

Like I said, still pretty positive. 90 on Metacritic at the moment.

geez that gameplanet review is so bad
"Uninspired world. Poor enemy variety. A few lame bosses. Inconsistent difficulty. Weak graphics in some areas. Irithyll Dungeon in general."
uninspired world? poor enemy variety?? it has one of the most beautiful and inspiring fantasy worlds i've seen in a video game and there is more enemy variety than any other souls game.
this must be clickbait because i don't believe anyone can legitimately give quantum break a 95 and dark souls 3 a 70

I mean there always is that one sight that goes against the grain for the clicks, regardless of game. at least they're being fairly obvious about it.

I never noticed your flagdog until now wow, thought you were American. I think the CEs are all sold out by now unless you want scalped copies. And no physical edition comes with a season pass.

We can agree that having a CE edition gifted to me and then buying the season pass all by myself is somehow cheaper than buying the two things together
[editline]Today[/editline]
Looks like the Collector's Edition (the Prestige edition, while I like the statue, is too fucking expensive) has been sold out in many Italian and European sellers, even on the web
That's bad because I was really interested in the art book
Oh well, it's Apocalypse Edition for me, at least I'll get the soundtrack
