I highly doubt this actually the last Dark Souls game. Maybe it'll go away as a name but I bet we'll see From use the combat system in another franchise (like Bloodborne) in the future. And you normally don't call a game in a series the "turning point" when it's the last one.
They came back on the "turning point" statement months ago. In more recent interviews they refer to it as the last game in the series.
They came back on the "turning point" statement months ago. In more recent interviews they refer to it as the last game in the series.
It's not going to be the last game in the series.
It's not going to be the last game in the series.
It is as far as recent interviews are concerned. Granted there's nothing stopping them from retracting their statements a second time.
Nothing is stopping them from making another spin off branch after they find themselves a new publisher past Bamco or sticking with Sony. Still waiting on that Armored Core 6, mind you.
Hopefully they'll announce armored core 6, hopefully. maybe one day yeah?
Hopefully they'll announce armored core 6, hopefully. maybe one day yeah?
Bloodborne 2 will be confirmed before that ;_;
So I'm not the one to typically do this, since I just upgraded my card and can run pretty much everything without a hiccup, BUT I'm getting paranoid. I should be able to run DS3 perfectly fine, right? Intel i5-2500k @ 3.30 GHz (4 CPUs), 12 GB of ram, and a GTX 970. I think I can run the Witcher 3 maxed out (granted I'm playing on a shitty 1440x900 monitor, often streamed to a 55 inch TV), and Fallout 4 runs perfectly, with the exceptions of a few spots when I'm in the center of the city and there's clutter and buildings everywhere. I just wanna get a general feel for if it'd be fine, because I know I can't return it if it doesn't run well. My girlfriend insists that I get it for the PS4 (mostly because then I'll play on the couch, but hell I'll just hook up my pc to the tv, screw streaming), so I could just do that if it won't run well/perfectly. [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] And I could always overclock my processor if I needed to. I just don't wanna have to get it on the PS4 unless I really have to. I'll deal with occasional lag over constant lag/ass graphics.
I could run it on a AMD Phenom IIx4 955 BE, 12gb DDR3, and a GTX 670. You're fine. [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] Should note that it was on medium settings at 1080p with a mostly solid 50fps. The latest Nvidia drivers fucked with everything and most of my games had a performance impact since updating. [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] The Xbone version is pretty solid though, even if it's only at 900p. Can't say much on the PS4 version other than it runs at 1080p. The Xbone had some minor dips but it's only in one area and it's a minimal drop.

It’s very disappointing to see that even with everything turned down, it’s impossible to get a smooth 60fps everywhere, though it does stick to 60 in a lot of places. Really, though, it shouldn’t be dipping below it at all with these settings.
According to PCGamesN, take with a massive grain of salt since driver updates and stuff
According to PCGamesN, take with a massive grain of salt since driver updates and stuff
Hmmm, that's awfully close to my specs, and it's still iffy even on the lowest settings?
Hmmm, that's awfully close to my specs, and it's still iffy even on the lowest settings?
It's iffy on all settings though, so it's probably an optimisation question and not a hardware question.
I've done a little more searching, and it looks like the 970 should be totally fine, and I might encounter some problems with my CPU (which I assume needs an upgrade soonish anyway, it's been like 5 years). Also, because of my monitors, I don't think I've actually played anything at 60fps (I could be mistaken), so I suppose that won't be much of an impact.

You can parry their swings but you have to be patient because it has a really long windup so you have to be careful and wait for it so not to prematurely blow your load and embarrass yourself in front of them. And unlock your camera and move horizontally away when you see the dive attack coming, same as you would for Ebrietas' and Ludwig's charge attack.

I could help you out too if you need it.
Oh sweet I got a Dark Souls III -spoiler from a title in Videos 'n' shit -section. I'm going to go live in a cave now, fucking dammit.
I hear that (mechanic spoilers) [sp]Armor in Dark Souls 3 cannot be upgraded, and this sort of annoys me. Does this mean that armor doesn't play as much of a role as it did in previous Souls titles? As I recall, armor in Bloodborne provided negligible defensive bonuses because that couldn't be upgraded either. [/sp]

Try using the monocular at the ledge where the winter lantern/brain trust/whatever the fuck the internet is calling the brain things is, and then throw a throwing knife at the far one. It might take a few to hit it, but it will run and try to attack you through the ledge. You can hit it fine, but only a few of its attacks can hit you and they generally will knock you far enough to not get hit again. The second one will jump down at an HP threshold of the first one. I recommend using a shaman bone blade make the the two attack eachother one the second one jumps down. They do insane damage not only to you, but also to eachother.
OK I ADMIT IT I HAVE NEVER DONE THE DARK SOULS 1 DLC [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] i cant keep it bottled up anymore
I never fought artorias, forgot where he was and just finished the game instead.
I still haven't gotten past Flame Scorpion in blighttown. i need Spiderman's help or some shit [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] ok hear me out i was never good at "don't step in the lava" as a kid alright

[/sp]
Bloodborne is unique among the Dark Souls game in that every character can wear every armor piece there is with impunity because armor doesn't weight you down in any way whatsoever, given the general design of every set The justification given in-game is purely lore-driven: since the hunters realized long ago that no armor can resist the beasts' attacks, they just gave up on the whole idea and chose cool clothes instead
stick to her sides. her 3 hit sword combo is pretty easy to dodge too.

Resist the urge to ask her out and defeat her (she's very easy to outmanuver and parry) 4) If you are still human, you'll find Mildred's summon sign right outside Queelag's boss room. Use it 5) Again, resist the urge to ask Mildred for her number and bring her along in the boss room 6) Watch as Mildred's bare skin displays its surprising high damage absorbing prioprieties as Queelag will focus her attention on your new (girl)friend, allowing you easy access to the boss back

[/sp]
[sp]I think armour is still relevant (certain resistances did help me out, and I was way tankier with heavy armour) but yeah, equipment percentages seem to be more forgiving which means you don't get as many fat rollers (if at all). Personally I'm glad armour isn't upgradeable. With a weapon you could pick your favourite and focus on that, but with armour it sucked to spend shitloads of materials on a set only to decide you didn't really like it, similarly if you had fashion that you wanted to upgrade you'd have to wait until you got the desired pieces and that means you'd have undergraded armour for a while. Removing it streamlined the game in a really good way imo[/sp]

[sp]In the other games it seemed like the NPCs were designed to follow the curve you got for upgrading armor. All this seems to be now is helping with the "Twink issue" we all go on about in so even if you get invaded by a twink you're not doing 10 damage because they're wearing +10 gear in the Burg.[/sp]

Now that some of you have played the game, I have to ask: Are there any enemy attacks in the game that strip a soul level like with Demon's Souls? Because Dark Souls 1 still had the code in the files, and invading hackers on PC would use it to drain all a player's stats to starting levels - without altering their Soul Level, so there was no hope at all of earning those stats back without using Cheat Engine. Had it happen to me on my first playthrough back when GFWL was still a thing. If there's anything resembling that mechanic in Dark Souls 3, I'll be very worried.
