wow, what an ending. Who'd have thought gwyndolin was the chosen undeads father
Does DS3 have quests where you have to summon npcs to kill bosses?
Does DS3 have quests where you have to summon npcs to kill bosses?
Hopefully not, since there's no bonfire ascetics this time around, used to love doing npc quest on NG then immediately burn an ascetic to still solo the boss afterward, or just get to fight my fav bosses as many times as I want, it's so much better that way.

Yeah, and there's also some where you dont summon the NPC but they will assist you and change the opening cutscene.
Oh god, I think I accidentally became a twink in Dark Souls 1.
I created a new character earlier tonight, planning to make a new main, dissatisfied with the mistakes I made on my old one. I got to the undead burg and decided to wait and grind out a few levels. Killing the Black Knight there gave me the BKS, so I thought I'd give myself the minimum requirements and play around with it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it was orders of magnitude superior to the Drake Sword. When I was around level 28, having managed to find enough twinkling titanite through my brief foray into the woods to upgrade it to +3, I got invaded by a guy who I swear was using un-upgraded weapons. He parried me, and it took off like a fifth of my total health (Which was the standard, un-upgraded vit of the Warrior class). Then I caught him with the ridiculous R2 of the greatsword, he popped a humanity in panic, and even as he was in the recovery from the animation I wiped him out with a couple of two-handed R1s. I feel so dirty now :(
I mean, okay, I don't feel *that* bad. He did try to go for a backstab while I was bowing.
Finally made it to the iron keep, got invaded.
In the middle of getting my ass handed to me when my opponent suddenly freezes and stops moving. It says he left. 15 seconds later, get a psn message: "pussy rage quitter"
:what:
[editline]7th April 2016[/editline]
So it turns out the guy is a famous streamer and I got yelled at from a viewer. What a nice introduction to the dark souls pvp community :v:
I didn't even do anything on my end.

Oh, that's not even the Dark Souls PVP community, just the Twitch community. They're mostly clinically retarded.

Got invaded by the same guy (I think), killed in two swipes.
I have accepted my honorable death.

Well this is surely fun.
For people wondering what weapon and such spoiler

I mean i get the new items and such but wtf was he even trying to accomplish? He got fucked harder than David Cameron meeting a Poverty Stricken Prostitute.

I knew the host was the weakest since his damage was like nothing and i'm not fan of dragging invasions\matches this much. It's impatience and really not being great at games and also lack of self awareness :v:
is there any consensus on viable builds yet?
is quality still decent? I usually like my first playthrough to be quality to experiment with as many weapons as possible, and since (according to the limited stuff i've read / watched) magic is a bit weaker this time around...
Is the magic/miracles being weak proven?
Cant see how they're weak, especially since there's various means of boosting your magic damage. I fight a lot of people that do just fine with pure mage builds
[editline]7th April 2016[/editline]
There's a lot of hit and miss spells though, really cool in theory but never work in practice.
bad news and good news for me
the bad news is that GAME cancelled my apocalypse edition preorder which had the steelbook and soundtrack included, for only £32.99 (plus a free shirt!)
the good news is that now i'm definitely going to be able to join everyone in playing ds3 when it finally comes out.
that's not really much of a good news though ;__;

It's more like they work better much much later in the game, early\mid levels they don't stand too much as well
How do you mean, I'm talking about pvp mostly. There are spells that you'd never be able to land on someone, for pve anything goes obviously.
For those who played the game already, how is the Mace? It was my go-to weapon in 2 due to everything in that game being super weak to Strike damage, and I'm yet to find any footage of it in 3.
I gotta admit, I'm kind of disgusted after watching Oroboro's latest invasion videos in Dark Souls 3. [sp]Darkmoon-buffed Fume Ultra Greatsword[/sp], rushes hosts who are fighting mobs, chugs when he's hit even by a lone host, trash-talks when he gets what's coming to him or when he kills someone.
It's not like Oro is known for using fair and balanced builds exactly.

I'm also talking about damage.
Well yes, magic comes up lategame because if scaling and the later spells doing way more base damage because of its prerequisites, else everyone would be using some form of magic like in Demons. There's nothing new there. However the spells in 3 are just so hit and miss that you'll never actually hit a good number of them, and the new ones involve some magic swordplay like the greatsword spell in 2 but they suck because you can parry it.
I always hated getting invaded in DS1 and 2, mostly because it was always so shit for me and the invaders were always laggy and able to connect hits from miles away, but so far DS3's invasions seem to be really skewed in favor of the host. It always looks like it's 3 or 4 versus 1, and apparently the soul reward for invading is meh, and when you die as an invader you drop your souls in the location of your death, like you would for singleplayer. I dunno, it seems not fun.
There's no reason to invade people in 3 than for the enjoyment of pvp, you get about 150 souls for killing the host and yeah all those things you said, it's rather unfun. I dont know why but when you get summoned from a red soapstone you wont appear there, you'll appear as if you invaded normally.
My only real concern is having to fight multiple people at once. I have a few places in mind that should be easier but i dont think i ever won an invasion at the pvp meta level in a 3 vs 1 in DkS1. I'd rather invade at regular ng, like level 50's Anor Londo.
[sp]Not a big fan of having to playthrough ng plus cycles for those rings, the regular Ring of Favor is....kinda crap for the hassle. [/SP]
Red soapstone never spawns you where you put your sign like always unless Ds1 was different which sadly i don't remember.

If you're lookin for 1v1s its best to just summon them yourself, people comin in through soapstones are chill or use one if you're outa embers but its a 50/50 of a 1v1 or a 1v4
