I think Bloodborne is like forty-something gigs, so I'm not really surprised if it's actually going to be 50 for DS3.

Seems like now we have to get swarmed by invaders if we want to get our fourth player in. Not necessarily a bad thing but...I feel like it's an unnecessary process to add to the mix.
Jesus, 3 phantoms again? That shit was annoying in SotFS since it made invaders VASTLY outnumbered. Having a second invader is nice I guess but I don't know if that really makes it better.
So, The Dried Finger allows you to summon a 3rd white phantom, and get invaded by a second red phantom. Online play item. Dried finger with multiple knuckles. It strengthens the connection between other worlds and allows the third phantom to be summoned, however it also allows the second dark spirit to invade. Also, invasion occurs more frequently in a short period of time. Use with extreme caution.
for fuck's sake
bigger safety net boys gank city here we come

Friendly reminder that if you dislike invasions you dislike a critical part of the Souls series.
Bone Fists were my shit (and I love that durability doesn't matter), really hope there's more unique move sets like that in DS3. The series needs more of this and less of the twenty reskins of the same move sets.
Literally Heihachi
I've taken a liking to the Looking Glass Knight the moment I realized he can and will summon other players as Mirror Squires during the fight The Shrine of Amana, however, is starting to feel like my most hated zone in Dark Souls 2, between surprise bottomless pits, aggravating water and enemies that area nearly impossible to escape
a ranged weapon will make amana trivial
Who turns on invincibility in the Bell Towers, who.
Friendly reminder that if you dislike invasions you dislike a critical part of the Souls series.
I dislike twinkers, which is 90% of people PvPing. If there was some kind of push for even regular players to PvP as opposed to someone deliberately and calculatedly planning the easiest way to cheese someone it'd be nice i.e WSS is really accessible and a very easy out to getting humanity even if you don't really like co-opping bosses. Besides, this item incurs disadvantages. The invasion cooldown is reset, even if you die AND the second guy that came in die, it'll still be reset, and they'll still be open to getting invaded again by 2 more guys. I don't get why everyone's so opposed to invaders having penalties. The only real disadvantage you have in combat itself is nullified by you walking vigorously at the enemy, and the other disadvantage that you incur post-combat is nullified by the virtue of very few people actually bothering with the Blue covenants; if you don't want to get ganked, don't invade.
Who turns on invincibility in the Bell Towers, who.
Scrubs, that's who. [editline]11th February 2016[/editline] Speaking of invasions, trying to help my friend through Iron Keep and get invaded before he can summon me. Fire rapiers (I think it was an Estoc) have such wonky fucking hitboxes in PvP holy shit.
Words.
I like the idea that if you want a FOURTH friendly player, you might get invaded by a second enemy, but I can see why you'd dislike it. It's kinda a risk-vs-reward thing.
Personally, I don't think people are opposed to invaders having some form of disadvantage. Stuff like the Seed of a Tree of Giants was a nice mechanic that could make an invasion a bit more intense, for example. I think the issue is that those disadvantages are stacking up. I'm really hoping they don't restrict invasions to only people with phantoms, because at that point you'll be getting ganked, with reduced HP, against a group of opponents. Estus healing for invaders is nice, but it was also in the DS2 network test before being taken out of the main game, which left miracles and warmth as the only way for invaders to heal while a host could hide behind phantoms and chug for days, then pop several lifegems, then turn to the various waters and charms for HP. I'm fine with ganks being a thing, I just feel like it shouldn't be the only thing you ever run into. Part of the fun of random invasions the unknown. It's nice to run into a solo guy every now and then and have a good fight. That said, I personally love being invaded. I also never use phantoms, because I find solo play to be more satisfying, both in PvE and PvP. I'm hoping that just by going to ember form I'll be opening myself up to invasion so I can enjoy that part of the game. I'd also like to point out that 90% of pvpers are not actually twinks.
don't forget human hosts get a giant HP boost too [editline]11th February 2016[/editline] it's not looking good for invaders. again.
I'd also like to point out that 90% of pvpers are not actually twinks.
In Dark Souls 1 it's twink hell. From how things have been there I guess it won't be very long before Dark Souls 2 is also host to the twinks. I like the Dark Souls solo PvE experience but for me it's only good for two playthroughs. With friends it's really fun and it's the probably only reason why I have more than 100 hours in each game. I also want to point out that these disadvantages stack up for a reason, the two other penalties they tried to implement thus far were almost nonexistent; only in extreme fringe cases did you get Seeded or invaded by a Blue. The health disadvantage is meant to compensate for that. Being forced to only invade into 1v2s might be excessive but what else are they supposed to implement to balance things out?
Invaders also lose half of their Estus Flask during invasions, but do get some back if they're good enough to kill a phantom without dying.
Honestly, the only thing I'm really nervous about is that they haven't outright said if you can only invade players with phantoms. It was like that in the network test, but a lot of people were hoping it was just a means of getting sessions with larger player numbers to see how the netcode holds up. Bloodborne had a similar rule when it came to invasions, only 2 areas of the game would allow random invasions, and that was only until you killed a certain non-respawning NPC. As a result, random invasions aren't really a thing in Bloodborne. You spend a lot more time waiting around and a lot less time PvPing unless you're in a dedicated dueling spot.
I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I'm pretty sure it was like that in the Network Stress Test because that's how FROM plans to have it work. I just hope I'm wrong.

Dark Souls 2 implemented Soul Memory to fight twinking, and by and large it seems to have worked out alright. Hackers are still out there with stuff they shouldn't have, of course. As for balancing it out, I'm not sure they need to do a ton. As it stands the only real advantages an invader has are the enemies in the level, and preparation. Meanwhile the host has greater access to healing items, up to 2 human allies without risking another red invasion, and a larger HP pool. It's been suggested before that both Blue Sentinels and the Way of Blue be combined, or not require a ring so Blues can actually get summoned. I think that's a pretty solid idea, since they offer such situational advantages that it isn't worth sacrificing a ring slot for them. The concept of a PvP covenant based around protecting PvE players is a good one, most players just weren't bothered enough to make use of it. That's due, in large part, to the extremely limited access to PvP items in NG when DS2 launched. You couldn't buy orbs until NG+, and even then it was for 10k souls each. As a result, it was very rare to get invaded outside of one of the belltowers. Why stick with a covenant that protects you from invaders when you never actually get invaded? The short version is that they had good ideas in previous games, even if they didn't quite work out. They could make them better with some tweaks, but nerfing invaders outright isn't the way to go.

i never get tired of that type of shit
If I had to come up with an online system, it'd probably involve how many required bosses a player has killed. Each required boss would drop an item that would determine which players that person could invade. So like a person without any of said item could invade anyone they wanted, this would usually be new players starting out, and worse case scenario someone who had a mule to help them get good items from another character. Where as a person who has, for example, 5 out of 8 of said item would be able to invade anyone who has 3 or more of said item. This would stop the better players from going through the game at a low level and obtaining good gear to twink new players. The invaders stats could also be adjusted based on how many bosses the host has defeated. Everyone in NG+ is fair game though.
Why is there a Dragon Rider in the Crypt in SotFS. How does that even make any sense.
