Why is there a Dragon Rider in the Crypt in SotFS. How does that even make any sense.
He just wants to be everywhere I think. Weird guy. Velstadt might just be a dude in armour, but he's a pretty fucking cool dude who is actually giving me grief.
I really hope that the chalice dungeons have an equivalent in Dark Souls III. I think they're cool.
The short version is that they had good ideas in previous games, even if they didn't quite work out. They could make them better with some tweaks, but nerfing invaders outright isn't the way to go.
Side notes first: How did you not encounter twinking post-Burg? Anor Londo? Depths? They're absolutely wicked if you linger for more than two seconds flat as a human. And yeah, In DS2 I think of hackers as the equivalent to twinks since, like you said, they're fairly rare. Most common are the ones running around with the invisible roll ring and about 6/10 of my latest new co-op character invasions have featured them. This goes without mentioning the Warmth spell that you only get very, very lategame, which would put it at around 8/10. Clearly it's the way to go because it appears to be what they're doing. Granted, we have zero information, but if they made the Blue covenants less shitty or found another measure that doesn't directly involve halving red phantom HP or forcing them to invade into gank squads it'd probably be in place. Also I think it'd be best if the guardianship aspect of the Blue covenants worked on anyone with absolute zero sin. You can very easily opt out by killing one NPC or invading someone once and those who care would have an incentive to play fair as far as the game's concerned. Some other leveling solution like what slayer20 suggested would be ok with me also. Zero penalties for invaders + the advantages of being invulnerable to NPCs as long as I have some decent guarantee that I'll be facing a human being. The times I've dueled with my friends are very fun, but that's only because we're actually playing the game instead of competing in the World Championship Cheese Contest.
Why is there a Dragon Rider in the Crypt in SotFS. How does that even make any sense.
dragonriders are king vendrick's royal guard. it's in their weapons' descriptions
I really hope that the chalice dungeons have an equivalent in Dark Souls III. What is wrong with me? I'm playing a 40DEX 40STR SotFS run, but I've been using nothing but the Murakumo, any idea on what I should switch to? I'm purposely avoiding stuff like the greatswords

I feel like there wasn't many straight swords in 2, loooots of ultra/greatswords but not enough straight swords.
I feel like there wasn't many straight swords in 2, loooots of ultra/greatswords but not enough straight swords.
I have the exact same issue. I feel like there's barely any regular straight swords and when I do come across them, they tend to be ugly..
I just hope boss weapons are cool and don't all look like giant turds in Dark Souls 2. Bloodborne has spoiled me.
theres only like 3 boss weapons in BB tho dark souls 2 had some baller ass boss weapons
What is wrong with me? I'm playing a 40DEX 40STR SotFS run, but I've been using nothing but the Murakumo, any idea on what I should switch to? I'm purposely avoiding stuff like the greatswords
After obtaining every weapon in SotFS and always running 40 Str/Dex, my favorites are the Bone Fist and (Broken) Santier's Spear. Bone Fist because it's fun (and can stun lock enemies for days) and fly kicking people off ledges will never get old. Santier's because it's actually very powerful with 40 Strength and Dex for a weapon that cannot be broken (after you've already broken it first ), can be augmented with buffs and has one of the most diverse move sets in the game. Wouldn't use the Santier's spear in solo PvP since any long time player will know the move set pretty well. Yorgh's Spear is good too, but it breaks too easily for me to bother with it personally and I prefer the Santier's move set. That said, you can use almost anything with 40 Str/Dex and be viable, depending on your inclination toward faith or magic shit you can stay away from those weapons and use whatever else you want and still get through the game without issue.
theres only like 3 boss weapons in BB tho dark souls 2 had some baller ass boss weapons
dual blue smelter demon swords are great
Man, I gotta say, after getting my ass roughed up through the entirety of the Old Hunter's DLC, beating Lady Maria on my first try felt real good. :joy: Now I just gotta gather some blood chunks, then I can start using the bloodletter. It looks like so much fun. [editline]12th February 2016[/editline] Oh, I just remembered. Can anyone tell me if the shape of blood gems affects anything except what slots they can fit into?
Just beat both Sunken King and Iron King with minimal deaths as my mage character. Man, I never knew mages where this fun.
I really hope that the chalice dungeons have an equivalent in Dark Souls III. I think they're cool.
But for fuck's sake, remove the whole ritual materials thing
Oh, I just remembered. Can anyone tell me if the shape of blood gems affects anything except what slots they can fit into?
Some effects are more likely to be in certain shapes than others, but you can get any effect for any shape, but that usually requires chalice dungeon farming. For instance, while waning is by far the most common for elemental, you can get elemental radials and triangles, but they're much rarer.
The Chalice Dungeons' biggest flaw as I see it would be the murderous overkill level of detail. It works in the regular game areas because the developers weren't dealing with randomly generated levels, but in the dungeons it got old real quick to run around the same ornate hallway.
I dunno bro I really enjoyed golden chandelier room with a ladder that directly leads to foggy hallway to darker chandelier room with a ladder SURPRISE THIS TIME IT'S SUMMONED GHOULS
I've never had problems with chalice dungeons. To me they were a good time waster and always had good loot that made it worthwhile. That feeling you get when you kill a boss and score a sweet sweet blood gem is pretty amazing.

That feeling you get when you kill a boss and score a sweet sweet blood gem is pretty amazing.
I grew to like them a bit, the early ones were a drag but once they became a challenge they were pretty good. I didn't really like how they were the only way to get top tier gems though. But at the same time, I realize that's a similar situation to a game like Dragon's Dogma. Minor spoilers for DD ahead: [sp]you get the best physical damage weapon for your vocation available in the base game about 3/4 of the way through when you kill the dragon. The expansion adds new gear which fixes what I'm about to complain about.[/sp] On one hand, having a reward with that kind of value is a welcome change of pace to the usual "here's a sword god forged, you'll level up and find something better on a bandit" type of gameplay present in a lot of RPGs. On the other, it leaves you in a position where the odds of new and exciting gear are next to nothing and all you did was progress the story. Chalices are similar. Top tier gems ONLY appear there, along with some runes, armor sets, and a weapon. On one hand I love that there's a cool reward for doing chalices, on the other hand I don't really like that something so important is locked in optional content that is somewhat polarizing to the community.
Just started the DLC today. [sp]Ludwig[/sp] is destroying me in ways I had previously thought impossible.
As I said in the past, I'd be willing to get over the copy-paste, roguelike nature of the environments and the lazy bosses designs (save for some notable exceptions) if I was able to acess the calice dungeons in some kind of progression line (like, I've beaten the layer one of the first class of dungeons, so I can acess the second layer and then deeper and deeper till I'm eligible to enter the second class of dungeons) Instead, as it stands, I have to repeat dungeons I've already explored in the hope that this time they'll drop the "materials" I need to perform the "ritual" to open up a new dungeon This is your typical Japanese grindfest shit and no, even if I'm DYING to get more content out of my Bloodborne, I'm not going to take any part in it
There is a progression, there's a time or two you'll have to farm for a certain item but I went through them all and only had to farm once(many materials are available in the game itself, or can be purchased in one of the baths, so keep in mind that this was on a NG+++ character). Depending on how thorough you are, you can get through with minimal farming since the non-root dungeons( the ones you'll be progressing through) are fixed in terms of layout. Here's a progression chart, linking because it's a rather large image: http://i.imgur.com/KgVUkyd.jpg In short, there are a couple areas where you may need to either buy materials from the bath, or kill an enemy to get it to drop. It's not a grindfest unless you want to get the top tier gems for your setup, then there's lots of recreating a chalice to kill the same boss over and over.
Yesterday Dark souls started lagging like hell for some reason. It was working just fine the day before but all of a sudden it breaks. I've reinstalled it and it STILL doesn't work. Any idea on what to do?

Path to Yharnam was damn irritating, though. Pthumerian Descendant and headless BLB gave me ridiculous amounts of trouble. Total bullshit how that old prick can just up and throw his sickles straight through the pillars.
The undead giant bosses were enough to put me off chalice dungeons. Mess up one dodge and its game over seeing as they seem to one shot me 100% of the time. I have an easier time fighting the boss at the end of the dlc.
I kinda hope there's less oneshots in Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 2, BB and even Demon Souls were all guilty of just being riddled with oneshots and even yet, DS1 was still the most legitimately challenging experience out of all of them. I can't recall anything that oneshotted you unless you were absolutely naked in DS1, except for maybe second pass of Hellkite Drake but Hellkite Drake was a mistake anyways. This is part of why I have a problem with twinks since the game's laxity comes at a cost when someone runs at you with a maxed out Chaos Zwei in the Burg and oneshots you.
