Huh, i think i actually prefer the cloakless Charred set.
Wonder how long that book would take to be shipped to the US.
Just got this baller ass poster of my favorite area in any video game ever in the mail today

Holy SHIT can you please tell me where you got this? Shrine of Storms was my absolute favorite Demon's Souls area, all 3 parts, and one of my most memorable videogame zones, plus it reminds me of a great metalcore/deathcore band poster. Need.

I am sorry about your conditions
I live in Australia and most of the time Its not too bad for me
tho I bet I'm a laggy fuckwad for them
My experience with invaders in DS2 has been 98% cocky assholes who wear the Manikin mask and do the "No Way" gesture after killing me with their blatant hacks, and 2% guys who are clearly just fucking around with weird themes or shitty builds just trying to make people laugh. Pretty much until they demonstrate that they're part of that rare 2%, I assume they're there to ruin my day and I will do my utmost to fuck them up. I never give a fair fight because I never get one.
I only got invaded once in DS1 near the boss of Anor Londo (which I still haven't found time to beat)
Nice dude. Bowed before attacking me, bowed him back and, while I lost to him, it didn't mind me that much. I never go human unless I cleared the area, found the boss' fog and tried it once solo. Summoning help is only a last resort if I start losing way too much.
That time was an exception because I thought I had to be human to invade the Firelink's Fire Keeper killer.
I usually have a policy of trying to solo the boss 7-10 times before summoning help.
I didn't used any summon during my first playtrough, I rarely summon anyone actually I prefer helping instead. I find that overcoming the challenge alone feels like a good reward. I remember getting stuck against O&S for a while, decided to start a new character until I got better then I returned to my main character, got the silver knight straight sword and I was finally be able to defeat O&S. It was a good day, after that it was mostly an easy walk compared to Anor Londo.
Are you telling me you have a hard time with Forlorn or am I just misunderstanding?
My grip with invasions is not about me not being able to beat the enemy. I wiped the floor with Forlorn every chance I got and, the very few time I was invaded by other players, at the very least tried to win
Thing is, I'm exploring a certain area and try to figure out a way around the place and how to deal with the enemies there, so I really hate to stop in my tracks to basically waste from two to five minutes of my time with another player as we cyrcle around each other trrying to hit the other, then rinse and repeat

Ah, this brings me back to one of the first invasions I ever experienced.
It was Anor Londo. My first playthrough. My first Souls game. So naturally the PvE alone was enough to stoke up some powerful buttfrustration. I don't remember why I went human (maybe to kindle the bonfire?), but I know that I was beyond upset when the "DudeMcMan has invaded". I didn't DC, but I decided to hide. See if I could wait it out. I think he was standing between me and a bunch of souls I wanted back.
This went on for a while actually. At no point did I get less salty.
At least, not until the GFWL message popped up in the corner.
lmao dude where you at
This guy was, like, the best sport ever. It's just a sneaking suspicion, but the content of his messages, plus the fact that he wasn't at all upset that he had been looking for me for, hell, damn near half an hour, seems to indicate he may have been quite stoned. We exchanged few messages. I was totally taken aback by how chill he was. He wasn't bloodthirsty, wasn't a jerk looking to ruin some nub's day. He turned out to be a dude just lookin' to have a little fun in Dark Souls.
After that, the salt was washed away.
I came out. We dueled.
I lost.
I didn't care about the souls anymore.
Wherever you are, Possibly-stoned-Anor-Londo-Darkwraith-Guy, thank you. You taught me to love invasions.
I remember my first invasion was also in Anor Londo. He popped in rolling all around with his katana (or scythe, I forget) and what I did next was stupid as hell but it worked.
Early in the game, a stone knight had dropped his greatsword, and for some reason, I decided that pumping strength to wield it was a good idea. By the time I got to the depths, I could hold it. I had already levelled my zwei a bit more, and due to sunken cost fallacy, I kept using the zwei. I didn't really know how equipment load worked at this point, so I had them both equipped.
Back to the invader, I got him to chase me around a bit, and then when he was about to turn a corner to get me, I used the inbuilt TWOP from the stone greatsword, which caught him. Unable (but still trying) to roll, the invader fumbled his way away from me but I just let him have it with the zwei, and killed him in a few hits. I was quite proud that I actually managed to kill him, though it did feel a little cheesy considering how potent TWOP is if you actually get hit by it.
My first invasion saw me absolutely fucked by a Havelshitter.
The Old Iron King DLC is making me realize how EASY would be to go to the final boss of the game and just call it a day
reposting my atypical invasion because i just love watching big hammer boy

little did he know you were not pleading for your own life, you were pleading for his.
My very first invasion in the Souls series was some dude in the Undead Parish, in the church, who oneshot me with Wrath of the Gods. You're a real trooper pal you sure showed that newbie.
my first invasion was in ds1 outside the oreos and smores fog door
this guy with daggers cursed me and i had to go all the way back to the church
Isn't it impossible to be cursed by another player unless they're a hacker?
A friend of mine was invaded by a hacker who backstabbed him and sent all his skills up to 99 as his first invasion.
my first was a dude with modded gear and full dragon body at SL15, still managed to bait out a bunch of backstabs and eventually won.
Why is it that I never met any twinks or hackers
Is it because I played everything on consoles?

Dark Souls was notoriously easy to hack. Cheaters were rampant as there were no repercussions.
I haven't been invaded so far in DS 2 SotfS on PS3. There are lots of players around too. Though I played for 7-8 hours only so far. I did do a bunch of co-op, helped a guy kill a boss last night.
Huh, i think i actually prefer the cloakless Charred set.
Not sure how it happened, but once I was wearing the Charred set and the cloak just vanished at some point. I don't know how long it took before I even noticed, and then I re-equipped it to see if it was stuck that way and it fixed itself. Probably some rare glitch, possibly related to the cloth physics?

You don't have to save the final boss for last, actually. It doesn't go straight to NG+ after the credits, unlike the first Dark Souls. So you can keep doing stuff after finishing it, and decide for yourself when you want to start NG+, which is another small nice thing DS2 did.
My first invasion was a twink. He instantly killed me and my phantom companion right outside the gargoyle fog door with one swing of his mighty, troll imbued zwei
The second invasion was much better though, he turned up in the depths, and I attacked him with a battle axe. Did some damage, but was parried excessively and killed. He took the time to message me and tell me that the battle axe is not a good PvP weapon, and recommended me some good strength weapons to work towards acquiring

Killing the final boss doesn't automatically push you into NG+ in DS2, so by all means get those free and easy souls.

Won't kill [sp]the Queen[/sp] trigger my fight with [sp]Aldia[/sp] and then force me to choose an ending (I'd choose the "Fuck this, I'm out" ending, because I feel it's very close to my actual sentiment on the whole game)

Yeah but iirc you just go back to Majula and you can pick to move on from the Far Fire.

Battle Axe is not good for PvP in DS1?? maybe, but in DS2 that shit is the best, specially for people just starting out. Good damage, very high poise damage, easy to punish with, etc
Speaking of co-op I've kinda gotten tired of playing through the games solo. Being a half decent player there's really never going to be anything that truly stymies you for more than a few hours at best, so I prefer to not really waste any more of my time than is absolutely necessary and I always roll with a friend or some random with a cool name or set.
I'm going to co-op the boss repeatedly anyways if it's fun or particularly challenging, so I might aswell get it over with on my world real quick and then make myself useful.
I only got this ephiphany after beating DS2 completely solo on the first week pre-patches. That shit was seriously not fun, even though I only died 25-30 times at best with all bosses down.

Yes, it does force you to watch the ending. But, then it sticks you back in Majula and you can finish up whatever you'd like to do before the end. Starting New Game+ in Dark Souls II is done at the Majula bonfire.
sorry for the terrible pictures, but what do you guys this of my pyromancer?

Spiky armor + exposed little girl head is a bad combo.
Yeah but iirc you just go back to Majula and you can pick to move on from the Far Fire.
yeah but if he wants the special ending he's gotta beat the DLCs first
also elia stick to it, old iron king is the worst DLC and the other ones have really good level design and items
As much as I like the generic knight character for first/casual playthrough I'm thinking of starting DaS3 as Priest-like build.
Maybe it's because of how much fun I had with it in DaS/DaS2.
