Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

If the DLC is as quality as the last ones I'm ok with it.
-snip-
I still mostly blame bamco for ds2's quality after I heard how they essentially went "no, start over and make it again" halfway through production.

well that would explain the half-finished props and geometry holes all over the place
I'm not too hot on Season Passes being announced before a game ships, but From's DLC have been consistently good since DaS1, and considering it's fairly close to release I'm fairly sure the game has gone gold anyways. Let's hope they can keep up the quality.
So I finally got into Souls after numerous attempts at progressing, and finally got invested enough to make it up to Anor Londo.
Warning, a little loud at the start.
Your gear isn't too terrible, how come you have fireball attuned? are you not using your pyromancy glove at all? or have you not just bought any spells?
Haven't really bought any yet, only combustion for if I can fuck with an enemy close quarters, wasn't really risking it with the Gargoyle there :v:
Also does anyone here play dark souls on windows 10 with a ps4 controller? The ps4 controller default maps to random buttons and dark souls is unplayable
I'm on Windows 7, but I had the problem of the controller just being mapped to random buttons and a spinning camera (using DS4Windows). Unplugging and replugging the controller seems to fix the issue for me. There's also a setting to "Hide DS4 Controller" that fixes it (if you're using DS4Windows).
What's with people summoning and then going AFK?
A season pass being announced before the game comes out is a little troubling, but The Old Hunters, all 3 Crown of the ____ King DLCs, and Artorias of the Abyss were excellent. I'm not exactly worried. I just have to wonder if any of it is "cut content we didn't have time to finish." B
Turn of ingame AA when using DSfix.
you have to turn AA OFF not on
i think you need to turn AA off
[editline]15th February 2016[/editline]
turn it on and then turn it off again until something changes
Turn off the in-game Anti-Aliasing under "PC Settings," and restart your game.
uh yeah and that fixed my problem and said that in my post and im talking about how my game looks like a lower resolution screen stretched to fullscreen and also dsfix fucks my game
did you change the resolution (and a few other weird settings) in the ini file?
uh yeah and that fixed my problem and said that in my post and im talking about how my game looks like a lower resolution screen stretched to fullscreen and also dsfix fucks my game
Did you change the line in DSFix for this?
# internal rendering resolution of the game
# higher values will decrease performance
renderWidth 1920
renderHeight 1080
1920x1080 is my setting / screen resolution. I forgot if that's what it's set to by default in the .ini file.
Because if not, the internal rendering of Dark Souls is 1280x720 even though you set it to 1920x1080.
The lack of defensive options when two-handing weapons, like greatswords for example, always bothered me.
Pretty much all you can do is roll, because you can't parry for some reason and if you block with a sword you still take most of the damage anyway, so what's the point?
I think that it would make sense to have something like a timed block with a sword, like how when you parry you have to time it well for it to work, but instead it's just a block. Just to at least have something other than rolling, just to have more variety and not feel like you HAVE to bring a shield to have more fun.
Kind of like the Guard ability in Kingdom Hearts, you can't hold it forever like a shield, you have to time it.
I don't know, I've just always wondered why it is like it is, because in actual real like sword duels and such, you would acually block and parry with your sword.

You get a good 50 / 60% damage reduction when blocking, without even taking into account the fact that it blocks all poise damage
As a last resort option it's actually pretty good
In the second souls game you do have the possibility to parry when 2handed
a lack of defense at the price of two handing is totally fair
you're opening yourself up to attacks so that you can deal more damage
it's a win lose, and it's better that way. Otherwise every asshole with a greatsword would be invincible and no one would even use shields
yeah i had it set to that, it was already set like that in game but i think its just the in game scaling, so i tried to change it to display high dpi scaling or whatever in the settings (cause so many programs on win10 feel stretched out but this problem usually fixes it
my game just wont start at all now, crashes on startup. ive googled some problems but im on intel graphics and i cant find fixes that dont involve changing nvidia or radeon graphics settings
i dont know what happens, the game would start up and run before fine, now it doesnt even after a reinstall
Try a reinstall without DSFix or any mods at all.
Start it up, go into the menu and change the settings, AA off, resolution, etc. Then put DSFix in?
After a respec, I managed to beat Sir Alonne, so I moved on to the remaining two DLCs
Since, as of now, I don't know how to melt the ice in the Ivory King area, I decided to take on the Sunken King area
Althought I managed to deal with the FIVE ARCERS at the very beginning, I soon discovered that the level features SO MUCH FUCKING SHIT it was easier to just run past everything to the next bonfire
After a while, I met the very first boss battle: three NPCs in a PvP-like boss fight
I'm on the verge of fucking it all and uninstall the whole thing

You have stumbled into the optional area, meant for co-op use. You missed a turn inside the temple.

For Ivory King, did you find the eyeball item? It allows you to[sp]see Alva who is guarding progression.[/sp]

Yeah, every dlc has special "co-op" areas. As much as a DS2 apologist I am, I'll even admit that they aren't that great. Except for the Ivory King one, I actually thought that one was really good (except for the boss)

I did kill her and reached the Grand Cathedral, but the ice is blocking my path
[editline]Today[/editline]
The three fucking caballeros of the caves are also one of the cheapest shit I've ever seen in this game, which REALLY says something
They are immune to the petrifying statues below in the arena, water doesn't hinder their movements and they can CANCEL AN ACTION AT ANY POINT OF IT AND PULL OFF ANOTHER ONE ON THE SPOT
I did kill her and reached the Grand Cathedral, but the ice is blocking my path.
Did you talk to[sp]Alsanna while standing on the podium[/sp]while in there?[sp]She should open up the rest of the dlc for you.[/sp]
Question about the Bloodborne DLC. I'll spoiler it since it's the last boss I'm stuck on.
[sp]How in the FUCK do you beat Orphan of Kos? I'm pretty sure I've tried like, 25+ times so far. Barely anyone seems to be there for co-op too, so I have to do it myself, and he two-shots me sometimes before I even get the chance to heal.
I got him to half health with a random co-op partner once, then he fucking ONE SHOT my partner, and jumped at me almost immediately before I even knew what the fuck was going on.[/sp]
I may just give up on beating the DLC because this boss is fucking insane :v:
My prediction is A team will work on DS3 main game and B team is gonna do the DLC. Fuck season pass.

How so? I'm fairly sure the game has gone gold by this point since it's releasing in Japan in a month, what's stopping the A-Team (that sounds hilarious, btw) to work on the DLC? I mean sure, it feels pretty cheap that they're already announcing a Season Pass, but they've been consistently good and I never felt they were deliberately cut from the final game just to make a quick buck, unlike many other games with Season Passes at launch.
Except for the Ivory King one, I actually thought that one was really good (except for the boss)
Really? I found it really cheap and annoying. What's the fun in infinite lightning-deer that are hard to stagger and have a lot more health than you'd think logical seeing as they never stop fucking spawning and the trek to the boss is fairly long.

What a fitting name. Thanks for letting me rank up, bud.~
Speaking of which, Iron Ox Eygil has now ascended to glorious rank 2.
I've made a lot of builds but this one is probably my third favorite PvP build next to my Lancer Jormund and Suspicious/ Nimble Shadow builds.

Sits under SL150 at 148, yet still has everything I need without having to overlevel. Plenty of health, all the stamina I need, good defense and poise, and still lightweight with great i-frames for rolling.

Despite not being very fire-based, I still infused all my weapons with fire for mixed damage (plus it fits the cosplay), and then Flame Weapon further boosts the fire damage. Can easily snipe people with 3-4 hits with my axe with this set up. I swap between Red Rust Scimitar and Estoc for my off-hand to catch people rolling away from my axe.
But probably my most favorite thing about this build is its versatility with different weapons.

With 40 STR and 20 DEX, I can wield a good number of weapons. I can switch between my Bandit Axe, Claymore, and Dragonslayer Greatbow on the fly depending on the type of target I'm against. Axe is great for single targets, Claymore is better for catching multiple targets off guard - just bait them into running after you, then quickly turn around and smack them with a running R1 spin, and Greatbow is good for picking off cowardly targets who try to keep their distance.
I swap between three different shields (as I do with my other builds) to combat against spellcasters. Buckler is default for parries, Magic-infused Magic Shield for the 100% magic resistance, and then Dark-infused Transgressor's Leather Shield for 100% hex resistance. Makes most spells completely useless against me. I can tank Climax straight in the face with it. :v:
All hail Eygil~

I also liked the feeling of slowly trekking through a snowstorm while being cautiously of tough enemy coming out of nowhere.
Though the boss was pretty disappointing, not the worse, but still disappointing.
