From what i remember, manikin ambushes are even worse, especially those with claws.
powerstanced claws That scarred me for life
Still better than iron keep for fuck's sake what
Surprisingly enough, Earthen Peak is one of the few areas from Dark Souls II that felt somehow fair me, but keep in mind that I navigated it with the help of a shadow NPC and another player. Even the mannequins weren't an issue (and they did drop a useful mask) The only grip I have with the Peak is the boss' gimmick: you fight her in a circular room filled with poison that erodes your health quickly and keeps healing the boss instead Removing this gimmick requires interacting with the environment prior in a very specific way and around a spot a first time player can easily miss (guess who)
IMO, I think the most underrated area of DS2 is No Man's Wharf. The area is very nice looking, enemy placement (I think) is fair, makes decent use of the torch besides lighting, nice shortcut usage, a decent boss fight, and overall doesn't overstay its welcome. Only thing I would say I don't really like is that I'm not really that fond of the design of the Varangians.

No man's wharf isn't that bad but it bores the unholy shit out of me. I just feel "ugh, again" when i go through the place because I either want to go through here so i can get carmillion for my soul seashell or because i want the flame hand
one of the new scholar NPC summons points to the windmill when you get to that room
I did hit the windmill on her input, to no good I discovered much later that you are supposed to BURN it
I did hit the windmill on her input, to no good I discovered much later that you are supposed to BURN it
I'm pretty sure the first time I went through there I saw a note on the ground that said to burn it and I kinda feel like that was the point. Something you would miss going through blind but a note would clue you in on what to do, like they would with a mimic chest or an ambush

That was added in sotfs
I've been playing Demon's Souls a bit recently. Is it weird that the area I'm dying the least in is the Shrine of Storms? These stormy skeletons' swordskulls are no match for my turtling powers, and aside from the edgy katana skeletons, the enemies are really fun to fight.
The Demon Firesage is a bad boss for so many reasons, and honestly everything about Lost Izalith is so bad that I wish it had been 3 lord souls instead of 4.
Since we are on the subject, what is the suggested order for the areas in Demon's Soul? After defeating both Phalanx and the Tower Knight I found a progression-locked door, I've tried navigating the mine level or something but failed and as of now I'm crawling my way inside the Valley of Defilement
If you don't dodge his homing jump slam, he just uses the magic blast and instant kills you as soon as you get up. Like, seriously, was this not tested past New Game+? Because it's really shitty.
Yknow I really hope there's a way to re fight bosses in ds3. Kinda like ascetics in 2 but without going through a whole bother ng+ cycle. It doesn't even really matter if you get souls or not to me

I just hope that they come up with a way to allow you to Co-op with others in any area of any place at any time. Part of the fun of the souls series for me was always helping others overcome obstacles and helping them take down tough bosses. Unfortunately once you reach a certain soul level or your soul memory goes too far, you can never Co-op in specific places again. In DS1 I had to make an elaborate save in coordination with use of Cheat Engine to make a save that allows me to visit any area of the game at any time, with any build I desire (a fair build that is), allowing me to Co-op and PvP as I please. But sadly this isn't a viable option in DS2 and I doubt it will be in DS3. It's probably just a pipe dream in the end, especially since it wouldn't really be fair if you could summon someone in fully upgraded Havel's gear at the game's second area for example; But I hope they work out some formula for Co-op that doesn't require you to make a whole new character just so that you can help people in specific areas again. Co-op is just so fun.
If they implement Bloodborne's password mechanic for online play, I think that'll make me happy enough.
Ideally, there'd be an Arena area, where you speak to a character who'll summon a Boss that you've previously defeated. You'd be able to summon friends, and control how difficult the boss is (maybe).

I also want an item that you get after NG+ that enables some kind of "human mimicry" or something so you can co-op while looking cool. Ring of the Living was nice but I don't see 4 slots returning.

From there on I just hop about a bit, trying to do all the first levels (with the exception of Valley of Defilement, sometimes I just put that off as long as possible). I feel like there's no real set order, but it's usually best to save the final areas for later apart from 2-2 and 2-3 if you can be fucked to beat the Flamelurker since he can be really tough. 2-3's boss is basically Bed of Chaos v0.5, so you can beat him at any point in the game really.
Nothing like getting invaded by a guy named Cheat Engine? who takes no damage and destroys all equipment in one hit with his bare fists.
Nothing like getting invaded by a guy named Cheat Engine? who takes no damage and destroys all equipment in one hit with his bare fists.
Got randomly invaded once in DS2 SotFS by some guy speeding around like Sanic on steroids wearing full Havel armor. I'd like to think I lasted pretty long, all things considered :v: [editline]edit[/editline] Hackers just suck in Souls games. The only cool ones are the creative guys who aren't there to grief or win, but to just have fun with novel ideas, e.g. fake boss battles and such.
Thirsty skeleton was my most memorable invasion so far
Honestly testing out builds would be pretty much all i'd use Cheat Engine for. I always have a lot of neat ideas but running through the game for each of them just gets super annoying, or for my Indiana Jones build trying to reset again and again for an Old Whip.
I would only find Cheat Engine acceptable if you're just using it to restock your consumables since I wouldn't wanna' waste souls (and thus fuck up my soul memory) by buying items to restock.
I only use Cheat Engine to make new builds and innocently fool around in PVP and Co-Op. Sometimes I also like to invade other people's worlds and drop some things for them before leaving. Cheat Engine should only ever be used for harmless fun and helping others if you ask me. It's a shame that people feel the need to misuse it like that. Makes me sad that Cheat Engine gets you banned in Dark Souls 2, otherwise I'd use it pull the same sort of innocent shenanigans and make builds.
