Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

Holy fuck, I got a Vagrant. 160+ hours and this is the first one I've ever seen. He was in the catacombs, and gave me (Ironically) a transient curse.
So, Dark Souls 3 weapons spoilers but;
[sp]My second favourite strength weapon the Large Club has allegedly returned according to an icon and item description. It has a "crude" jump attack and its weapon art is a roar that increases attack power for a limited time. The roar may also 'manipulate' its strong attack. I think this is the first evidence of weapon arts actually changing movesets (aside from weapon arts being moves themselves)?[/sp]
[sp]The claymore is my favourite strength weapon and it's confirmed to be returning as well (hope it looks like the DS1 version with the quatrefoils.) Apparently its sword art is the ready stance, same as that of the standard short/long swords.[/sp]
[sp]There's also a saw cleaver apparently. Appears in an undead town area, but it is allegedly different to Bloodborne's. It's cool seeing Miyazaki throw in elements from all the games[/sp]
Isn't that SC just the Great Machete from Dark Souls 2?
Katanas usually aren't considered small swords.
Compared to the swords he usually uses? Yeah they are.
Compared to the swords he usually uses? Yeah they are.
The smaller sword Guts used was small compared to a katana. That's the comparison we're making here.
I got cursed in the giant tree the first time I explored the marsh.
If you think blight town sucks going down, try blight town going up with half HP.
That was a fucking journey.
my first and only time going through blighttown was with half hp, i think im a better person for it now
Isn't that SC just the Great Machete from Dark Souls 2?
Don't know. Did you actually see footage of it? You might be thinking of (leaked info)[sp]Big Hatchet/Cleaver[/sp] - Link
[sp]Saw Cleaver was mentioned in another thread as its own point.[/sp]
edit: So certain 'temporary' weapon arts like the battleaxe war cry do change the properties of some moves. Was this in the network test and I just didn't notice?

Know of any fun weapons to use?
Currently using an estoc
Haven't used small weapons until now
Guys wanna play Zelda?

Okay, I'm officially buying the converter for N64 to PC and I'm going to play Dark Souls with my old controller.
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
Also, my xbone wire got absolutely gnarled (dogs happen) and it doesn't work, otherwise I'd be (maybe) done with my current run. I'm getting a wireless connector for it so it should continue either this weekend or sometime next week.
I think Demon's Soul artistic direction still looks stunning and aged really well (I like the Nexus above all the other locations this far), the NPCs are interesting (I'm starting to develop an odd sexual drive towards the Maiden in Black) and the boss fights range from extremely satisfying to heated battles with neat ideas here and there
The issue is, however, that the nature of Demon's Soul as a proto-Dark Souls the developers used to test gameplay ideas for the upcoming series is slowly catching up to me, to the point that, after a playing session of an hour or so every time, I usually switch to Bloodborne to keep up with my strenght waifu
Having to return to the Boletarian Palace at an increasing rate just to farm the (few) more powerful herbs to keep up my healing becomes tiresome after a while; having increasingly reduced health for dying is a questionable mechanic at best, and I hated it with a passion in Dark Souls II already (since these games heavily revolve around dying, why should I be punished for it?); at this point, the burden mechanic basically means that, every time I find new loot, I have to drop something from my inventory first, else it's not coming with me (and mind you, I'm carrying only the things I'm deeming necessary)

which game dood
odd sexual drive
Odd indeed dude, why haven't you developed a totally regular sexual drive for bird waifu? It's pretty much the only reason Dark Souls 2 even sold.
I'm hoping they put more time into making things viable. The end result of DS2 was atrocious in some aspects since you literally cannot play a Miracle build because of how horribly awful it is. Maybe with hyperarmor talismans and very fast casts it's fun to use in DS3, but that still leaves me dreading the balance patches that make it completely useless down the line.

If you're having trouble grinding up herbs, go to the Shrine of Storms. The second stage has a great source of souls (around 5,000 a run) AND a merchant that sells both Half Moon and Full Moon Grasses right below the Archstone. Also, make sure to keep the Cling Ring equipped. It's by far the most useful ring ever and you can find it in the first stage of Boletarian Palace

Cling Ring, bruv. Helps a lot.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the "farming for healing items" come back in Bloodborne?
only at the beginning of the game if you're bad and have to use them a ton. almost every enemy drops them commonly anyway. later on you'll have so many souls you can just buy max vials
goddamn, the Frigid Outskirts are a fucking gauntlet.
You get 3 NPC summons, they make it so easy.

The problem is that I'm pretty much forced to wear the Herculean Strenght (?) ring not to get overburdened with every particle I take up around the world, and I could really use the other ring slot for a more situational ring (like the poison resistance one if I'm navigating the Valley of Defilement)
After playing the other Souls game, I'd say that Bloodborne's healing system was Miyazaki's attempt to take the best from the systems of the previous Souls and see if something good would had come out of it: blood vials holds far more uses than the flasks and can be looted in the environment, but they heal as much as the estus in a short span of time
The only downside of the vials is that a fresh player will most likely use them a lot while learning the ropes of the game, forcing him/her to farm them sooner or later, while someone who finished the game at least once had become savvy about it all and can save a huge amount of vials and make his/her life easier

Deposit all upgrade materials, equipment, and consumables you don't plan on using, man. They take up a surprising amount of space in the inventory and you pretty much only need Grasses and Spices for non-boss runs.

Doesn't only your equipped armor and weapons take up weight
Played some Bloodborne at a friend's
holy shit I knew it looked easier than the Souls series but goddamn
Doesn't only your equipped armor and weapons take up weight
Absolutely not in Demon's Souls. You have Equip Burden and Item Burden. All items except keys and souls take up Item Burden, and too much Item Burden prevents you from picking up new items.

What are most people doing atm? Killed two bonfire bosses and have only seen two summon signs so far

... I'm basically a walking cardbox hobo and it's STILL. NOT. ENOUGH!
I've been thinking about it for a while, and I'm not sure I like the idea of having a second estus flask for sword arts.
Obviously I have yet to play the game, but I'm wondering if it would be better if it refilled like stamina, although much much slower, or if you regained some after attacking enemies.

It's not just for Arts iirc, isn't it for spells too?
It's not just for Arts iirc, isn't it for spells too?
I love the idea. Now pure melee users get a few more tricks and options, and spell users can choose which spells they'd like to use over others (either a shitload of magic darts to pressure fast enemies, or a few magic greatswords to lay the hurt on a bigger foe)
It's a lot less limiting than previous systems. Also means you don't have to stack spells either
The Dark Souls PC port is so fucking weird.
On my old school laptop from 2010 it ran great with DSfix enabled.
I could even use the more demanding graphics options like AA and AO and still have a pretty solid framerate even in Blighttown.
On my newer laptop with all around better specs than my old one, it runs like absolute shit the whole time no matter what I do.
I've tried everything I can think of, but it never improves at all.
Does anyone have any advice?

yeah, focus points are used for sword art and spells
