It's a weapon art for the dagger iirc. Nothing classbound.
Well there goes my line of reasoning, thanks! And weapon arts only work when you two hand a weapon, right? So no dual wielding a scimitar and a dagger and getting mad spins and side steps?
New DSIII screenshots https://imgur.com/a/VVsMv
MUST. NOT. OVERHYPE. Also phantoms with more natural colors than SotFS ENBSweetFXDX11 eyerape.
So I know I'm late to the party, but I just got bloodborne ($23 with PS+, wooh), and I love it (although it sorta feels like "Dark Souls mini" in terms of mechanics). Since I saved a bunch on the base game, I wanted to get the Old Hunters dlc, but not quite yet if I can get away with it. So to get to the question, is the dlc something that is best enjoyed while playing the game (for the first time) or is it more like typical expansions that are aimed for when you're far enough in the game?
Think of Artorias' expansion for Dark Souls. You can only access it after beating one of the earlier bosses, I believe.
Think of Artorias' expansion for Dark Souls. You can only access it after beating one of the earlier bosses, I believe.
Only Amelia, not as bad as Artorias' requirements. Although you'll probably get destroyed if you do it that early.
Going to the nightmare after beating Amelia is really just if you want to rush to get some of the DLC weapons. Speaking of, even though I find using it to be a bit underwhelming, the animations and sounds especially of the Beast Cutter are just the best. It just sounds so perfectly chain-y, and mechanical, and spiteful. Especially when the enemy hunters use it and leave that black inky trail when they swing.
Love how there's literally a [sp]body hair[/sp] setting that's even available for females. They put a lot of thought into the detail of this game. Also [sp] anyone notice how the soul icons are back to being like Demon's Souls, with two weird little adjacent shapes? It's neat! [/sp]

So how do weapon arts work anyway? Like what button do you hit?
So how do weapon arts work anyway? Like what button do you hit?
The dedicated weapon art button on the brand new Dark Souls III controller
So how do weapon arts work anyway? Like what button do you hit?
Parry button while two handing. For this purpose some shields have no parry and instead let you do the weapon arts even while one handing, like the [sp]Pursuer's Greatshield[/sp] shown off earlier.

I'd almost rather it'd be a combo input, IE L2 + R2 at the same time.
New DSIII screenshots https://imgur.com/a/VVsMv [sp]purple phantoms[/sp]
that sunbro pic is just, glorious. also I must know the info of the [sp] covenant that must make you a purple phantom[/sp]
Would you guys say Dark Souls 3 is a good purchase not having played 1/2. I realllly want bloodborne, but have no PS4. The combat in DS3 looks similar.
AWAY! AWAY!
oh man this is burned into my brain at this point
Would you guys say Dark Souls 3 is a good purchase not having played 1/2. I realllly want bloodborne, but have no PS4. The combat in DS3 looks similar.
I really recommend you play dark souls 1 and the dlc and get into the lore, it's so worth it
I'd argue that you can play most of the Souls games on their own and get a relatively complete experience. However, if you play all of them sequentially I think you'll end up with a much more comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the evolution of the game and story. Plus there's a few neat throwbacks in DS2 that don't have the same impact if you hadn't played DS1. I'm sure that will be the same in DS3.
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'd almost rather it'd be a combo input, IE L2 + R2 at the same time.
I'm guessing some two handed weapon's battle arts will be parrying, so I don't think there's anything to worry about if you wanna be the parry king. Some weapons may not even have battle arts, who knows? Combo inputs are really unreliable, atleast for me. If you could assign them to a single key on the PC platform then I'd be down, but it's a pain in the ass as it is to execute jump attacks or kicking people properly.

The GUI of this game looks really nice.
If flails existed that would be neat. It'd be like a STR + DEX cool weapon, you'd also have the obligatory holy flail with a cool gold trim and pure white colos for that holy knight aesthetic.
