Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

Oh man, that [sp]purple phantom, does that mean the adversary system from Bloodborne's confirmed to be in Dark Souls 3?[/sp]
I sure as hell hope so.
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'd almost rather it'd be a combo input, IE L2 + R2 at the same time.
This would be janky as fuck since weapon arts seem to come in multiple forms. Mechanics spoilers, some have stated them openly but I'm just being safe: [sp] The bandit's knife, for example, is a sidestep. The Longsword, however, has two attacks that are accessed via holding L2, one is triggered by R2, one by R1. The uchigatana seems similar based on Lobos' footage. It has an attack, and a parry. Plus, as has been mentioned already, combo inputs are a little iffy sometimes when it comes to triggering them during combat.[/sp]

Something else that got me kind of hyped:[sp]Judging by the ember's description, it seems like merely being in ember form will allow people to invade you.[/sp]
So, what is everyone tempted on picking as their starting class?
[sp]Cleric seems like the best option. Although Herald is somewhat tempting.[/sp]
I want to find who ever designed Black Gulch and punch them in the dick.

[sp]Knight[/sp]
No other option for a first playthrough.

A nice video to watch. It is spoilery of the first 30 minutes of the game so don't watch if you don'tw ant that. [sp] Knight class can fastroll from the very start and deals pretty good damage. This is gonna be great. Crystal Lizards also got replaced by those fucking crystal demons apparently, so that's gonna be nice. [/sp]
a returning classic

The Weapon Art sounds exactly like the DaS1 version's 2-handed strong attack. Maybe it's going to be horizontal?

That [sp]Firelink Shrine setup. It looks like the Nexus from Demon's Souls, all the way with the stage markers and the big circular center of the hub.[/sp]
DS3 news spoilers:[sp]Blue Sentinels and the Way of Blue are back. However, rather than being ring-based, covenants have their own item slot. So maybe now people will actually get summoned as a blue since you don't have to sacrifice a ring slot.[/sp]

[sp]I loved the Way of the Blue covenant in DS2, getting summoned to peoples worlds to help them by essentially saying "pick on someone your own size" when they are invaded is a good feeling. Blue Bros for life.[/sp]
Man I really hope they add intense rimlighting for high-ranking red phantoms like they did with DS2/ SotFS. That was my favorite thing about that game.

and I saw it as a way to instill fear in the person I'm invading by immediately turning all attention to the Way of Blue man till he's dead, or me. Usually I'd try finding and killing the way of blue member before he could find the host

the grind, but it does show its worth

Archer, honestly. [sp]those new weapon arts or rather mechanics look delicious. It's an actual viable class to play now.[/sp]

Here's another nice video. Spoilers from first 4 hours of gameplay, includes bosses
[sp] The second bossfight music at 6:02 is fucking LUDICROUS. Batwing demons return too, that was the bloody red hand in the True Colors trailer. Siegmeyer's ilk also returns, and that set at 9:00 is really nice.[/sp]
I want to watch it, but I don't, but Dark Souls 3 though.

[sp]Must be the pendant slot next to the rings that allows you to do so. I wonder if they will have more of an effect than the Covenant runes in Bloodborne, which where almost pointless.[/sp]

I'm so hung up on how good the music has been. Who cares about having [sp] the best gameplay, aesthetics and graphical fidelity in the series thus far [/sp] if you've got good music?

man at 7:04 when that cutscene plays, it's like I'm back in dark souls 1. I love it
In Dark Souls, what difference there is between the Iaito and the Uchigatana, if any?
In Dark Souls, what difference there is between the Iaito and the Uchigatana, if any?
The R2 of the iatio is a quickdraw.

IIRC at +15 & 40 Dex the Uchi has like 10 more AR than the Iato, not much of a notable difference, but a difference nonetheless.

DS3 SPOILERS
[sp]Speaking of the Uchi, that Iai battlearts that some people showed off is pretty neat, the light attack is a quick draw and the strong attack is a parry, gunna be pretty fun to bait people into falling for it and confusing them by switching it up[/sp] :v:

After watching DS3 footage from LobosJr, i can rest and take a break from more DS stuff on the internet. It was fun :v:
The level design is... not wowing me. Bloodborne did right off the bat, this. Not so much. I'm sure it'll be fine, but. I dunno. The washed out grey and white and tan area at the beginning isn't grabbing me.

What? Did you not see any of the videos where they look over the landscapes? The view of the mountain range? Or the view to Firelink from Iudex?
This is easily the best looking game FROM has done. Color vibrance may be an issue but that's more of a 2010 & forwards problem.
So with DS3, would it be considered dishonorable to chug from the Ashen Estus Flask like chugging the regular flask?

Maybe not dishonorable but definitely a bit confusing.
[editline]1st March 2016[/editline]
it can be pretty common for people in DS1 to let you reapply your green blossom.
I know this is just me, but the themes of Bloodborne beat the ones of the Souls Series so bad that the hype isn't as high as it could be
[sp]wanna buy ds3 day-1 still[/sp]
