Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

I'm glad they spiced up NPC interaction in DS3. The amount of shit you can do is ridiculous.
Now all I need is a greatsword that can be held like a straight sword at a outrageous STR requirement and I'm sold.
There's a PC demo going on in London today apparently (though I'm not attending)
There's a m+kb hooked up plus an xbone controller so hopefully we find out what the pc controls are like, but obviously the biggest question up in the air is whether it's 60fps or not
[editline]5th March 2016[/editline]
Ok here's the scoop. The build is 6 months old and locked to 30fps. A Namco representative at the event allegedly said the final game 'should be 60fps' at launch. Essentially we really didn't learn much from this
This is pretty bullshit. We need a fucking statement soon, not waiting until release to find out
Anyone else rolling deprived for their first playthrough of Dark Souls III?
I plan on becoming a str/dex warrior who initially dodges everything, then later starts whoring shields because I suck so much.
If I may ask, what weapons in Dark Souls III allow dual-wielding?
It's my understanding the whole thing works like it does in Bloodborne, where you can find two weapons that can only be equipped as a pair

[sp]The only ones we've seen do it are the caestus and legion scimitars. Other than that there's no hard info on it, so just sit tight til release.[/sp]

It seems you can still dual wield 'traditionally' e.g. in the trailer we saw a halberd in the left hand being used with a completely different weapon in the right, but some weapons e.g. caestus and legion scimitar have special dual wielding properties and are equipped in both hands when pressing the two hand weapon button (even though you only have 'one' of the weapon)
So really it's the best of both worlds. You get cool unique dual wielding movesets and weapon arts but you can also do your own thing, no matter how unconventional

Dayum, that switch to fat-rolling must've been rage inducing
According to the top-rated post, the PC version of DS3 he played was 30fps locked:

Ok guys I played it.
It was locked at 30fps, I used an xbone controller so didn't get to check out the kb+m controls, I know I'll be using controller when I get it anyway.
The graphics options menu wasn't accessible so nothing to report there either unfortunately.
:(

Somebody mentioned this last page, they said it was allegedly an old build and a Namco rep said it should be 60 at launch.
All hearsay, but still.

Are people talking about this? Are there other sources? If we draw attention to this spokesperson's statement, they'll have to say something.

So, who wants to bet they'll push the PC release back a couple of months at the last minute?

Well dammit. I'm voicing my opinion with my wallet then. I won't buy it until I see 60fps or unlocked fps footage on the PC. We mustn't tell them "It's ok, we'll buy it anyways!" or we start seeing this shit more.
I was originally going to that pc demo event but then the guy I knew who had the tickets pulled out because he decided to work this weekend and forgot about it.

I wouldn't mind if they did, I love the series so much I'd pick it up on PS4 to tide me over in the meantime like with DS2. As long as the end product is a good port in the years to come, I can wait. It's not looking good for PC based on what we've seen so far, but it's not like we've seen absolute proof either way. Might be time to rev up them petitions again

Sounds bullshit to me
Sounds bullshit to me
I'd be the first to say I hope it is. We've had two separate reports though, and until someone comes out and challenges them we'll just have to take their word for it
Official statement soon pls
I don't understand why people on the DS3 reddit argue so much against 30fps claiming it makes no difference at all. Do these people have some kind of medical condition I'm missing that fucks up their eyes so bad?
It's like they think a good game and a high framerate are mutually exclusive. I'll still get the game and even now I'm betting one titanite shard with a friend that the game's gonna be 30 but that doesn't change the fact that I'd rather a fast paced game have a framerate appropiate to its speed.

Anyone who claims 30FPS isn't factually worse is just wrong. I've been playing with diminishing framerates for years and only since December have I been able to play at 60, I can tell you going down to 30 (hell even 50) from 60 after just a couple of months is painful. Physically painful on the eyes as they have to readjust to the lower framerate.
I personally don't mind 30FPS gameplay, I much prefer 60, the problem for me is when a game fluctuates.
ummm no the human eye can only see 30 fps idiot

tbh I don't see it being FPS locked
I can see it for pre-release builds but if the ds2 team is on it I doubt it

I'd love to watch anyone who thinks that "30 fps doesn't make a difference and going higher doesn't change that no matter what" play any racing game at 30 fps, and then play the same game at a stable 120fps and say that with a straight face
Pretty sure Namco hasn't said anything official because they are still working on 60fps. If they manage to fix the bugs then they'll confirm 60. At the time being, they're ambiguous on purpose.
Now if I can finally make use of my 144hz monitor for a souls game...

if you want to have a fun time, unlock souls 1's fps and then play it at 100+ fps
trust me
its
interesting
Any footage of this PC demo? I wanna see what the m+kb controls are like, apparently when you're given the option to play with an XB1 controller or test control functionality in a demo where the main purpose is to test functionality, everyone goes for XB1

Gentle reminder that while Dark Souls 2 *was* 60FPS it received a graphical downgrade so bad from the trailers that it looked worse than DS1. And the PC version was plagued with problems like the 60FPS durability bug - that they fixed on consoles after release but left PC users in the dust until Scholar of the First Sin came out - which completely fucked the PC playerbase by splitting the community.
Yeah, not that fond of the Souls 2 team, nor am I that confident in their ability to deliver.
I guess I'd rather be a pessimist than an optimist. That way I'm only pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed if I'm proven wrong.
I find it silly that something as simple as having 60fps in a current-gen game is still not happening for DS3, but I'll probably buy it nonetheless. It's going to be a great game guys, just chill.
I wear light armor so I can do the max roll. When I tried during the fight though I would either a) get stunned by the dog then killed or b) survive for a split second only to then die by Capra's fast spin.
Sorry for the ranting, but it just annoys me that people think this is a godly game and 10x better than Dark Souls 2.
My post on the top of page 62 was the 'encouraging' way of looking at the Dark Souls experience. The NPCs in the series give you the canon take.
Below, I will quote from memory several NPCs:
The Crestfallen Warrior in Firelink Shrine: Dark Souls 1.
What do we have here? You must be a new arrival.
Let me guess. Fate of the Undead, right? Well, you're not the first.
Listen m8 this game's really hard, k? I don't stand a chance, and you don't either. You may as well give up. Btw can you invent guns so I can off myself? TIA
The Firekeepers in Things Betwixt: Dark Souls 2.
Ooh my, your face... The face of the cursed.
It's an Undead. An Undead has come to play... heh heh heh.
Inb4 you get rekt repeatedly and lose all your souls until you ragequit, lol
And finally, Shanalotte, The Emerald Herald, at the Majula bonfire in Dark Souls 2.
Bearer of the Curse... Get gud or get rekt.
Wise words.

Duh i can see any FPS in the top left corner...
Is there anything in Demon's Soul using dexterity at its core stat that could make my character something else than a guy with a sword and a shield?
It seems you can still dual wield 'traditionally' e.g. in the trailer we saw a halberd in the left hand being used with a completely different weapon in the right, but some weapons e.g. caestus and legion scimitar have special dual wielding properties and are equipped in both hands when pressing the two hand weapon button (even though you only have 'one' of the weapon)

This right here, this is the core of why I love Dark Souls so much. If you're willing to try, you can make it through the game with just about anything, no matter how stupid it looks on the surface.
My favorite build will always be the dual Havel shields, full Havel set run I did a while back.
I wanted to do PVP and get the covenants done in DS2 but after an hour i said fuck off, the PS4 servers for DS2 are just so horrifically laggy every match someones hitting me and i'm not even there but i'm still taking damage, i hope they don't add pvp rank covenants in DS3, they fucking suck.
