Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VIII. At The End

So in a short amount of time I've defeated the Capra Demon, the two Bell Gargoyles, the Moonlight Butterfly, and the Prowling Demon. Now I' stuck between three hard choices:
Save up Souls to buy Artorias' Creft to enter the doorway, keep fighting through the ghosts in New Londo, or fight the Hydra (after horribly losing many times). I don't know what to do, or if I should just grind for levels so I stand a better chance.
your objective is to ring both bells of awakening. you knew there were two, right? in which case you were told where the other one was, right??
After reading the developers interview from the Dark Soul art book, I developed a deep artistical respect towards Myazaki
That interview was also a very interesting read. Apparently, Myazaki knows a lot about the Harry Potter series and styled an entire area of the game after Hogwarst, the Duke's Archive, and ordered a designer on his team to gave Sieglinde of Catarina Hermione's face. Also, Gwyn, Lord of Cinder being easily defeated by parrying is something he really regrets and didn't get over about to this very day.
Moreso, the man has some kind of giantess fetish too, by the way he speaks about the conception of Gwynevere

Underground, yes, but I hate the ghost ladies more than than the other two combined. I'll grind for a bit and level up, just to make it easier on myself.
underground is right but you were told what it was under and under firelink shrine is not correct. check your keys
Wait, it was Blighttown... so I'm assuming I have to go through the Depths then?
Man I hate rats. And basilisks.
Oh please, it really doesn't matter in the end. You're all Souls veterans, as am I. You know what we do when we die? We deal with it, even if the reason is bullshit occasionally. Twinks are only a threat at lower levels. Level up your character and they cease to be a problem. Having trouble with a particular section and don't want to risk invasions? Play offline. It's always more rewarding to overcome difficult challenges without help, after all.
You said it yourself, Headhopper. Twinks are what led From to implement Soul Memory as a mechanic, and thereby fuck up that experience for everyone. ANY measure to stop Twinks will get in the way of and ruin the experience for other players. So we suck it up and deal with it, like we always have.
Good sermon Father, but fuck that shit, there's no way something should be so broken that the solution is to turn online gameplay off from 1-50 and 1/2 of the game.
Keep in mind I never have, I've soloed both of the game atleast twice in each version and every time it was with online on. But the time comes where I want to have fun with friends, and having to stack upgrade a BKH before Gargoyles to stave off 8 guaranteed miserable dickheads gets tiring.
There are ways to prevent twinking that wouldn't hurt normal players. It just takes time to find solutions, but if people like you keep going just selective memorying everything like a goddamn PTSD victim it's not going to help shit. I'm done tho, so w/e
Spoilers for DS3 if anyone hasn't seen it https://imgur.com/gallery/mA8y9o0
[sp] back art of each set looks really cool!! Specially Knight, so much detail[/sp]
I'd rather deal with twinks and have functional co-op/invasion mechanics than have to deal with one of the BIGGEST FEATURES OF THE GAME BEING FUNCTIONALLY RUINED. Yeah, they could implement ways to deal with twinks, but because twinks are a minority amongst the Souls community you end up harming the majority for a minor issue.

And it really is a minor issue. Getting ganked by a couple of assholes at a low level is no reason to screw everyone else; Let's hear some of your brilliant solutions, Headhopper, that won't mess up the multiplayer experience for everyone else.
Noob Update: I made it to Blighttown!
Bad news is, I hate Blighttown.

they're called twinks because they're a bunch of cocksuckers
oh i didnt realize this conversation ended like 2 pages back now this seems weird out of context
Did anyone on FP with the Steam name "I hate video games" add me? Says we've no friends or groups in common, but they *are* a Souls player. Trying to figure out who it is.
I really hope DS3 will have a much better covenant version of gravelord phantoms.

wish i had $350 to spare right now
Not sure if this is really a spoiler but, looks like there are 2 "greatswords" now. The one in the network test, and the ds2 variant. My guess is the ds2 one is going to have a much higher str requirement, and weigh much more, maybe even be slower.
Does anyone here honestly care about spoilers?
Depends on what type of spoiler it is, but 99% of the time for me: YES, dont spoil pls. :v:
At least the third time I've seen this conversation here-- consensus is even if you don't care about spoilers,a lot of others reading do, so use spoiler tags

As long it doesn't feel plastic like in DS2, hooray!
so Ned went to church for some good, wholesome prayer time when suddenly an insane swordsman burst in and smashed the clergy and all of his fellow churchgoers into a bloody pulp!

I used a tree seed to get the mages to zap bowman guthry away, then my team of retards and I made it to freja. she didn't do anything wrong, but my summons decided to be cruel and keep attacking the stump where one of her heads used to be for several minutes without doing damage. eventually they decided to end her misery. it took 3 tries total

Well DS3 is using a modified BB engine, so my hopes are high. Who knows, we might even get the based dragon bone smasher moveset for it!
Still weird to see all these spoiler tags in this thread and the games' wiki. These games barely have a story compared to something like witcher or elder scrolls. That's part of the reason I like them.
It's not all about the story. A lot of people like playing it blind the first time.
I must be the only person in the world who DOESN'T like Ornstein and Smough boss fight theme
I must be the only person in the world who DOESN'T like Ornstein and Smough boss fight theme
I'm probably the only person who thinks the actual O&S fight in general is overrated.
lone hunter schmidt was worthless and got smashed by victor and gully the second they invaded. lucatiel died like a useless idiot who never dodges. ray is the only guy in drangleic worth a shit with his pyromancies and quick claw attacks
even still, rotten was completely ignoring my redeye ring in favor of smashing ray and I was THIS close to having to stroke a homeward bone:

what a trooper
Nah. Boyd and Glencour are the best bros.
Wish I could summon them for more bosses.
Bashful Ray is perfect cannon fodder in Dragon Shrine, otherwise i love being with him, he just wrecks everybody and NPC Invaders
yes, he just bitchslapped merciless roenna as soon as she invaded
