I probably should've put more effort into making sure my characters can spot traps and defuse them because I keep getting almost blown to smithereens.

I regret not investing in demolitions.
I got Bear doing demolitions and hardass. it fits her.
Anyone activated the nuke in citadel's museum? That was totally not what I expected to happen when I did. :v:

Did you all find the [sp]6,200 "Extra Terrestrial Game Cartridges http://puu.sh/bNTht.png [/sp] I had a good laugh at that. It was completely out of the way and I thought I bugged the game.
[sp] holy shit theres a civilization based entirely around manners, they call themselves the mannerites and they follow the teachings of a book called "Nauseatingly Correct Manners" [/sp] [sp] wow they literally put people in a time-out square called "jail" if they aren't using proper manners. [/sp] probably the best game i've ever played.

I usually think I'm easily appeased by stories, but the writing in this game is really good I think. I actually like talking to people about their history and their feuds with people. And some characters and places are actually interesting to visit, not to mention the detail in how the game reacts to how you approach certain situations. What is nice is that so far, the choices you make actually affect how people speak to you. And your history so far in the game is known by characters. I can't even tell you how nice that is after some games you save the world and people call you like a normal person. You feel like you're affecting things.

I have to agree though, it's so awesome to see the little nuances that change the outcome ever so slightly.
someone had trouble with the giant frog? i guess my custom characters are alright [editline]27th September 2014[/editline] also, i hear luck is a useless dump stat, but those are my favorite kind of stats so it's higher than basically everything else on all of my characters (i like a challenge)

Well, just over 90 hours and I finished it. Did pretty much every side quest as well as I could, opting for the most peaceful solutions that would benefit the most people in the long term without letting assholes off of the hook. The last hour or two felt really underwhelming to me, which is incredibly disappointing considering the rest of the game, but thankfully they weren't bad.
So I've finished this game. Fairly enjoyable I must say, but man? So many things fucked up. Progression is fucked. I played it for the first time on second difficulty level, and I really loved the difficulty spikes - first when encountering the [sp]robots[/sp], then upon transferring to [sp]LA[/sp]. King of the hill, and then suddenly getting my ass handed to me on a plate, that's pretty cool. New environment, new enemies, new power grid - that's nice. But from there on it goes downhill and final encounters of the game become a fucking joke. They really-really sucked. And the combat's fucked up. Which is a damn shame to be honest, you'd expect turn-based game with cover mechanics to have a tactical level, but instead it's just shit. It's still enjoyable non the less, but sadly it's still one of those instances where devs have to give AI combatants a different set of rules than your guys to mitigate their utter inability to pose challenge on their own. What is the point of having long-range specialists when enemy shotgunners, machinegunners and pistoleers can just ran up to you, covering 1.5 the distance of sniper rifles, and rub their dicks all over your face making your troops feel "pressure"? What's even funnier is that only those classes of enemies can do that, melee-oriented fighters and critters behave normally. And to add insult to injury on top of that, it's painfully apparent that the sole purpose of this behavior is to somehow balance their sheer idiocy. The AI Sprayers run up to stand literally on the next square from your troops, and they totally ignore all cover on the way, ending up standing literally in the open "pressuring" at most one guy. For the whole game I encountered enemies using "ambush" maybe three times. Cool. Great use of those shotguns and pistols there, guys. It's not like you're supposed to use them to ambush my troops while sitting in cover, denying me access to your long-range troops. They better take low-chance pot-shots at me than do something sensible. Oh and scorpitrons, signature enemies, being [sp]glorified turrets[/sp] were a disappointment. Exploitable, stupid, predictable, tedious to fight. I may be criticized for being harsh on this game after only playing on lower difficulty for the first time, and I'd be real happy to admit it if someone tells me those issues are non-existent on more challenging difficulty levels. But so far I've heard nothing about there being "shackles" on AI like it is in XCOM:EU.
I just finished playing through the game for the first time since alpha. Holy shit, who fucking proof read this? Jesus. [sp]The HSS council meeting has dialogue saying we need four votes, five seconds later we only need three, the actual meeting says we need five votes but there are only four people present, so uhh.[/sp] GG. More to the point, there are many lines of dialogue that are completely misspelled. Wrong word forms (to,two, too) are common as well. Some of the end results were wrong as well, [sp]I had brought peace to the rail camp, but apparently not according to the ending.[/sp] So many progression bugs as well, and I often found my self wandering into areas and ruining entire quest lines for it. [sp] I sort of discovered the secret tunnel before I went to the bastion. Pretty much ruined the entire thing.[/sp] [sp]Pre-LA[/sp] was honestly the best part of the game, after it just drops significantly in quality. Over all though, loved the game, loved the original so much more, but this one was fun up until the end really. Even with all the bugs I still had a good time. Also the fact that I could be as prepared and ready for combat as possible, yet the AI still usually got a turn first, ( I tested this with max combat initiative cheat builds out of curiosity, AI still gets to go first a lot.) wasn't really that great. The lack of ability to enter ambush mode with characters before an encounter was kind of dumb too. Then again I stacked my group up on doors before kicking them in to get any advantage I could during combat, not that I needed it though, AI is pretty bad even on harder difficulties.
[sp]I had brought peace to the rail camp, but apparently not according to the ending.[/sp]
Now that's nice, I didn't get that result at all. Just nope, never went to Rail camp. [sp]Failed to bring peace tho[/sp]. To be honest, I remembered the Rail camp only after reading your comment. Memorable events indeed. BTW I've read on Steam forums devs said that enemy guys running too far is a bug in logic, and is not a free extra move distance. And that can't be true, because I've had instances of Rose going rogue and running almost twice as much distance as she could while under my control.
I've also learned that rogue chance has literally no bearing in how often they go rogue. Or it at least doesn't update when subject to things that would make sense in the story for said rogue behavior.
I'm at damonta and still having fun but holy shit i hate the balance in this, it's awful. Heavy weapons are useless, shotguns are useless, energy weapons are just a gimmick thanks to that wonderful "half damage to no armor and no headshots" thing. What were they thinking ? It surprised me that balance is this bad after all the time they had to do this kinda shit. As for the combat itself, it certainly would benefit from AI that actually moves and doesn't just rely on an enemy type that shoots and ambushes and another that can run up to your face in a single turn. Ranged combat would be far more enjoyable in general if everything wasn't so stupidly fast, i understand bunnies and small melee robots but it's just silly and annoying for humans and those giant spider things.
judging by what you guys are saying about the later portions of the game you're making me question if I want to play past the [sp]Mad Monks[/sp] portion of the game considering at this point I'm sorta lost with whats happening with the plot and getting sick of the rather poorly done combat.
Finish Arizona and then(come back for this spoiler before you leave it.)[sp] pretend you all died in the helicopter crash, shut the game off and uninstall.[/sp]
Met this [sp] shadowy figure in the canyon [/sp] and he was talking about [sp]overthrowing the mad monks and all [/sp] and it sounded reasonable considering when you learn that [sp] they're MAD monks for a reason and their titan god is a ballistic missile[/sp] but the further I went into the [sp] canyon it became clear they were just a bunch of raiders with fancy guns[/sp] Also, does anyone have the soundfiles for this game ? I want to use the "grunt" sound that robots use.
Goddamn I can't play this game. Keeps crashing, especially after AG Center. Was on my way to Highpool but nope, crash. Decided to go to Citadel, crush. Tried to load another file. Ccccrrrrrraaaaaa
Sounds like this game has problems then? :v: Shame, I was gonna probably grab it too.
It hasn't crashed for me. I think I've only come across a couple bugs.
It hasn't crashed for me. I think I've only come across a couple bugs.
Then what's the problem? I'm thinking about getting this game, but this thread is talking about crashes, bugs, and general problems that come with independent projects.
From what I played, it's a solid game. None of the issues I've heard about, out weigh the good parts.
From what I played, it's a solid game. None of the issues I've heard about, out weigh the good parts.
Tell me more?
I've had exactly one crash in my playthrough. Haven't encountered many bugs, the only ones being quest- and progression-related... Wandering around, you can easily stumble upon something that is a part of some quest you're supposed to get later, and interact with it in such a way that it will break that quest. Other than that and occasional optimization issues, everything was alright for me.

Both on the same level and online it looks like that level wasn't optimized so i just had to play on low settings for one level and then it was fine anyway because something..... happens to the level after you do something story related
Things I've heard are occasional crashes, annoying RNG that seems to play against you, some inconsistency in writing/story, and lastly, the story getting odd/dull after a certain area. I still haven't gotten around to playing the release, but I played the crap out of the beta, so I ain't ready to play yet. But I only hear good reviews and compare to most games being released nowadays, it has the least problems.
But I only hear good reviews and compare to most games being released nowadays, it has the least problems.
Indie/Early Access games? or Games in general?
Games in general. Too many games have be released by bigger names. And so many of them had issues in stability, gameplay, and/or story. Wasteland, being a kickstarter game, managed to make a pretty well polished game. I could go and try to list every recent game that had a rather noticeable problem, but that'd be going too off topic.
