You can play the original game over on this website, it's a great java dos emulator :P
Fixed that for you.
677k already!
Five 10k pledges. I wonder who are they.

I wonder if Chris Avellone is one.
Wow almost $700,000.
747k roughly a day and half into this.
here are the bench marks for additional monies, we really want to get to 1.5+:
To do this game right, we need to raise $1 million, but you'll notice our funding request is $900,000 and that is because Brian Fargo has offered to fund the last $100,000 if need be. That’s a lot of money needed, but not when compared with the budgets of most full scale RPGs made today. The original game sold over 100,000 copies—on the Apple ][ and Commodore 64 platforms back in the day. If everyone who played it then backs the project at the most basic level, the game is on.
But we’re looking ahead to what we can do if you all back this project in force. At $1.25 million, the money will go primarily into making the world bigger, adding more maps, more divergent stories and even more music.
At $1.5 million, the world gets even bigger. You’ll have more adventures to play, more challenges to deal with, and a greater level of complexity to the entire storyline. We’ll add more environments, story elements, and characters to make the rich world come alive even more. We will even be able to bring Wasteland 2 to OS X for Mac lovers. And after $1.5 million the sky is the limit.
Goddamnit, I want to play the original so badly, but I just can't get into it. The menus are clunky, and the graphics are almost nonexistant. That's pretty crap, actually, as I love Fallout, and would definitely like to play its spiritual predecessor. Nonetheless, I'm waiting for Wasteland 2, as it'll probably be easier to get into.
Wow look at how many donated 10K.
I don't get how a statue of yourself can be carefully crafted in a top-down game.

Most likely won't be true top down, but sort of like Baldurs gate/Fallout

Another one of the 10k donors have been identified:
5 backers who have pledged $10,000 each so far (one of them being Razer’s CEO, Min-Liang Tan).

if i was him i'd take the 700 grand and run for the hills
“@BrianFargo: #Linux users. We've heard your requests, and will include a Linux version (in addition to more content) at $1.5 million in pledges.”

Yay!
Man I hope they have the 'modelled in 3D' look of Van Buren. It makes for a pretty game.
Rpgcodex is 1100 away from getting a statue in game heh
Wow, the hype for this series is absolutely insane, though I havent had a look at the ticker yet, its obvious from everyone's posts that this will definitely reach the goal in under 1 month's time.
Its a great comeback for the makers of the game that inspired Fallout.
TychoBrahe
Oh, you bet your ass I donated to that Wasteland Kickstarter thing. Your ENTIRE ASS

I'm very optimistic we will see ~1.5-2.0 million at the end of the month
Looks like Steven dengler was the last 10k donation
“@Dracogen: Just backed the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter. Apparently I get a whole frickin' city named after me, or something. http://t.co/c1XKPpWU”
Did my part and donated 50.
Kickstarter is the greatest and worse thing to happen to me this week. I can't keep throwing money at projects.
They're being a bit optimistic thinking that they could possibly revive the genre.
Woo, it hit 900,000.
916,000, and it still has 33 days left. If people keep donating then it will easily surpass the Linux goal. ($1.5mil)
Honestly am shitting myself over this, I loved the first Wasteland.
I think this just shows how awesome people are.
I mean getting nearly a million dollars for just saying you're going to make a sequel to a classic game is amazing. Indie devs have it good.

What's with this week and 50+ Kickstarter projects?
Also:
Also get your name in the credits in a special thanks section.

Pledges:1995
Yeaahhhh I think I'll skip the credits
Woo, going to donate 100$!
yet another one of those times where you wish you had a million or so dollars lying around (in-game shrine would be awesome!)

Since the 10.000$ prize is sold out, people can donate a hundred bucks multiple times and get multiple games and names in the credits.

Pay 1,000 and get yourself as a NPC into the game.
Up to 955k!

Donated [del]$30[/del] $65.
I saw the amount donated and assumed this had been up for a week or so. A day? Holy shit.
If thousands of people are donating and receiving at the very least a free copy of the game, how are they going to make money from this when it's done?
I don't think their goal is to create profit as such from the game, just to get it made and get their salaries while working on it. I think they will get some profit, because there are always people who don't want to buy a game before it is released, or haven't heard of it at all before release.
I have never played the original Wasteland, but I have heard great things about it. I might donate 15$ or 30$, because I'm a huge sucker for post apocalyptic games, especially RPG's.
