how the FUCK did I not see that on the last page?

in other news, my current donation level (including the few packages I've fronted to friends) is 565 and I'm likely going to front one of the new vanguard variants for a good friend who's been helping a lot with my house move, so there's another 3 hundo (temporarily out the door til he pays back, but permanently attributed to my account), yeahhh buddy
speaking of which, house move complete, now in tiny apartment, and whilst I'm still buried in boxes to sort, I'm so much more free time-wise and want to have a space shindig tomorrow night if anyone's up for floating around.
ALSO also thinking of my lineup with avenger/gladius/tali, after seeing the vanguard potentially getting an S5 fucking railgun (below), if the avenger variants don't include an all-or-nothing body mounted S5 railgun attachment, I'm hoping there's at least a racing variant.

(from sneak peak, of one of the TBA variants for this week's sale)
those are suckerpunches on the turret, and this is probably the gun:
[t]http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t178/cool_hand77/6y9kDDz.jpg[/t]
so who's up for some shenanigans in ~2 hours? still need to beat VS, seems every time I've played in the past week everybody quits or crashes out before too long, and matchmaking often left me with only one wingman a majority of the time
I'll probably be around then, if i am i'll be up for some vs but i cant guarantee i'll be on.
we're gearing up in teamspeak y'all
gonna run some VS with Matt and Elix for now
Hey we beat vandul swarm, even though elix's game crashed out and one of my avenger's guns forgot that it was supposed to have a gimbal mount.

R.I.P. Star Citizen.

[editline]24th August 2015[/editline]
imagine if star citizen just died immediately tomorrow, no partial refunds. it would be the end of crowdfunded vidya for like 2 decades

Smart is like those customers that come to the Customer Service center with something they can't refund and demand things because they're "entitled" to a Refund as a "Customer's Right".
Death Sharts' letter pretends the Kickstarter TOS doesn't exist and that he never received a refund and is still owed his pledge rewards. If an actual lawyer wrote that and didn't do even a bit of due diligence, they'd better do some research on who DS is, because this is just another round of stupid from Stupid.
I wasn't even going to post about it here. Also, according to Mr. Completionist Package, Wulf, he has tens of thousands of dollars worth of Federal liens against him and is desperate for cash. All of this is just a desperate ploy to get people to buy Line of Defense. He makes a "comparison" between SC and LoD and it is so rich with self-delusion it puts the worst of the RSI wish-fulfillment septic tank to shame and makes them look like mere maladjusted grumps.

For some reason, if I die on wave 18, [del]I die in real life[/del]my client shits the bed and just hangs totally. I had two respawns left, too, maaaaannnn. I hope there's a fix for that bug.
Smart is like those customers that come to the Customer Service center with something they can't refund and demand things because they're "entitled" to a Refund as a "Customer's Right".
Its even worse, its like a customer that already got the refund, but wants more than that.

RSI isn't even the developer. Does RSI even exist? I thought it was fictional and used just for the game, an in-universe company name used by CiG to promote things, rather than it actually being a real company. If he can't even get that right, how is he going to sue them?
I figured you guys might appreciate this. It's in German, but it's the gameplay of Line of Defense, Derek Smart's MMO that he's hawking every time he brings up Star Citizen.

So I pledged for this on... kickstarter I think?
I've been trying to get up to date with the state of the game and it's development and I'm just completely lost.
I was hoping if you guys could help me get up to speed with a few of the things I'm trying to figure out.
I'm installing it at the moment, but I have no idea whats-what.
I got a "SCOUT - LTI" package? I'm not sure, but that's what I can find in "my hangar" on the website.
It says it contained an Aurora MR.
I'm also seeing a number of X million rewards there.
I have no idea what those are. They sound like pledging milestones?
Looking in the store, I'm seeing things I can buy with USD, store credits, UEC, REC.
What's the point of so many different currencies?
I get that I can buy stuff with real money to "pledge" on top of my original pledge and get in-game stuff. But some of these prices seem... obscene. 300+ USD for a ship sounds really bad.
What happens to a ship if you lose it? 300 USD down the drain?
Sorry for all the questions. I remembered yesterday I actually pledged towards this and have been trying to play catch-up to it all.

At the moment you can wander around your Hangar (the in-game version, not the one on the site) or play Arena commander which is the space flight module, it's primarily ship vs ship combat and just flying around. Other parts of the game like the FPS module, along with multi-crew ships and the social module, should hopefully be coming out in the new few weeks/months.
That list is stretch goals that were unlocked once that pledge goal was reached, they're to help encourage people to pledge while improving the game at the same time. Those things that will be added to the game at some point, although most are just fairly small additions and there aren't too many large features that have been added.
UEC will be the in-game money, once it's fully released. At the moment it can only be obtained by paying real money. What you buy with UEC will be yours permanently and will be usable in the persistent universe once it's out. REC is what you can earn via playing Arena commander, and can be used to try out new parts and ships for a while. Those are not permanently yours and are usable only in Arena commander, but REC is fairly easy to earn.
The ability to buy ships is something that will disappear once the game is fully released, at the moment it's just for helping development while also rewarding you with a new ship. The game will not be P2W and you can earn all of those through playing the game without it taking too long, even for the more expensive ones. The prices are high because while there is no straight advantage or progression line for ships, they do want to limit the number of some of them that will be in the game at the start. The more expensive ones tend to be more specialized for certain roles. Ships come with insurance, and as long as you have paid it (which will be fairly cheap), you will get a basic hull for that ship back if it's destroyed, although it make take a while as it actually has to be made and delivered, so things could go wrong on the way. You won't just get it back instantly.

Thanks a bunch! That clears up pretty much all my questions (and some p2w worries).

Pretty much all of the more expensive ships are multi-crew, so while they might seem better than the cheaper ones, there are some fairly significant downsides for them. Crew numbers, escort fighters, gunners needed, being boarded etc are all things you will have to consider with them, it isn't just a case of "I have a bigger ship so i can beat everyone". It's also going to be more of a skill-based game, and different ships are best suited for different roles, so there's no clear progression for them. There are advantages and disadvantages to all the ships.
Basically, skim over the last ~10 pages of this thread and you should be about up to date, including all the cool shit at Gamescom.
The devs have been posting monthly reports detailing what they've been doing, and they're pretty in-depth. Worth reading, although occasionally the report writers don't actually explain why X thing is good and assume we just know. The rest of this year is when all the big exciting changes happen that the past year to year and a half have been building up to, so you're coming back in at about the right time.
the reddit is pretty neat
also an amazing counter-pizza-analogy to one of smart's alts blatantly trying to seed dissent

This is some SoH tier nonsense. The part where they declare him a troll and threaten a ban for reporting bugs was hilarious.

Just so you know, if you buy a ship upgrade, whatever you upgrade to will keep the LTI status.
You could also sell/trade that package for about $130 to other people. I did exactly that, bought an avenger with 6 months insurance and pocketed the rest.

Well at the very least Haxus isn't wanting people to pay for his... nevermind.
Well at the very least Haxus isn't having a silly vendetta against other space games.
Hey guys, so I took a little bit of a break from Star Citizen for the summer semester, and just got back into it this past week. I played around in Vanduul Swarm spectrum matches to get REC so I could upgrade my guns a bit. After purchasing two CF-117 Badger Repeaters I loaded up the game and realized I have absolutely no idea where the Holotable is. When I last played it was over by the simulator pod, did they move it someplace else? I've been running all over the hanger and can't seem to find anything.

Haxus is kinda all-over-the-place but he does have a very interesting game. There is absolutely nothing else like Shores of Hazeron.
IIRC, Haxus took down the SoH servers because of the cost of running them, but players pushed him to put them back up with a fee (either one time or pay-to-play) to cover the upkeep.

what hangar are you in? It should be super close to where you start in RY and Aeroview, and in asteroid hangar you have to go down the stairs and look toward the ramp leading to the big mechanical door. haven't touched the base hangar in a long while though
I do indeed have the base hanger. It's so odd, I feel like it is right in my face since nobody has made any threads about it on the RSI forums lol.
Perhaps this is a sign that I need to purchase a better hanger.

It's right next to where it used to be, but on ground level instead of on top of the ramp. Behind the simpod, if that helps.
Thank you so much. I had to have lapped the upper catwalks and the base floor three times looking for that table, and I would have never noticed it there.
they just began sending invite waves for PTU 1.2, AKA SOCIAL MODULE
check yer emails
-Elevator in the hangar now connects to ArcCorp, allowing players to explore the map and some of the shops that it has
-New chat system added
-Emotes added
- /help command added to list all the emotes
Looks like I may finally need to reinstall SC.
