Awww, yes. 1.2 is out!
That means the NDA on the PTU is off, basically.

I see they're going for the TF2 philosophy by linking hitpoints with bodyfat:

that delay. it has to go. it has to go before anything else can be done with the game..

But it's realistic~
Also speaking of delays, check out this really impressive landing sequence that you'll have to watch every single time you land at Nyx.

lol someone rated you winner
[editline]28th August 2015[/editline]
i think the reasoning behind it was basically that we're going to have a lot of eve spreadsheet shit to do in the meantime, so the long landing times won't really be something you notice too badly?
SC has the potential to be a very confusing game.

I think it's a very confused game.

I wish it did. They seem to be mistaking "bad guy" with "outlaw". The outlaws look exactly as advanced and well equipped if not more so than the marines, except with a "bad guy" aesthetic.
IMO they should have techpunk helmets like that and sweet gadgets from a few decades ago combined with straight up steel armor chestplates and "ancient" MOLLE and random assortments of milsurp armor pieces.
Also, CIG fucked up with that 15k UEC giveaway. Whoops. :v:
Several hundred backers received an email in error tonight awarding 15,000 UEC for purchasing a package as part of the Gamescom promotion. This was intended only to go to a small number of accounts which were created by Citizens who decided to join us following the 'Fly Free' promotion. Unfortunately, the script was in error and it awarded UEC to everyone who used the code and had an existing account during the event... including a number of backers who had long-standing accounts. Because this was our mistake, if you were impacted you may keep the 15,000 UEC.
Here's what happened: we intended to offer a small coupon (15% off a starter package) to new players who tried the game using the Fly Free code. You know, make Citizens out of Civilians :) In planning this, we noticed that there were a number of new backers who had tried the game and immediately purchased their own package (THANK YOU!); since the coupon wouldn't help them, we decided a small UEC gift to let them experiment with the Voyager Direct store would be a fair trade (since they wouldn't have UEC of their own like existing backers.)
As I said, if you received the extra UEC you are free to keep it, we will not be removing it from your account... I just wanted to let everyone know what happened and why!
which is actually exactly what is happening, and I think the world will actually have a bit more of a "real" feeling because of it, but there's lots of room for design cringe.
I feel like a backseat designer very often, but I feel like some people just don't understand basic aesthetic principles and it's really weird.

rated winner because it looks awesome
also lol @ you guys going on about wait times, do you have any idea how much waiting will be in this game?
landing and take off is a wait, loading and unloading cargo is a wait, finding jobs in the bar or w/e is a wait, crashing and getting a new ship is a HUGE wait
it's not all bad though, wait times can be very important for gameplay, especially if you want peoples actions to have weight and consequence, and I can see there being enough spreadsheety/management stuff to fill a some of time
but also remember this game is supposed to be about ~the moment~, it shouldn't about grinding or min/maxing everything like most MMOs, the structure of the gameworld should be designed around having cool or intense experiences. so it sucks to think of it from the perspective of seeing the same landing sequence 500 times as you grind out your nyx-stanton trade run for 10 hours, but the game shouldn't have to play like that (IN THEORY)
[editline]29th August 2015[/editline]
tbh the nyx landing could stand to be shorter but it's still only 2 minutes of your life, that's not much worse than ED for example: with the painful supercruise de-acceleration, waiting for a pad at the outpost, waiting to enter the hangar etc
emissions such as infrared, heat...
how are we going to detect both? isn't heat just an inference from detecting infrared?

rub your fingerless space gloves together and stick them out in front of you

Debug mode confirmed for squashing Auroras lengthwise. At first I thought it was a Reliant and then I realized.
On RtV it was confirmed that the Herald is being worked on for both hangar-ready and flight-ready status. :joy:
That could be an interesting version of Hunt the Ghost: Hunt the Herald. One pilot and one EWAR officer versus the swarm. The Herald's guns should be big enough, according to the last render we saw. First, the Herald has to hide. Then, it has to try and fight back and outlast until the time limit. Bonus points if you can jam someone's controls so they fly into an asteroid.
Decoy Missile – A missile that, when fired, broadcasts appropriate signatures to assume the identity of a particular ship. However, the cross-section cannot be spoofed. By default, these missiles will inherit the signature of the ship firing them, but advanced operators can configure them to mimic a wide array of targets.
Imagine dropping a rack of these while moving them around the ship.
"Captain, it would appear several Bengals have landed next to the medbay"
Wonder if by mimic that means we can also configure the speed of the missile so that way it'll move at the mimic'd ship's respected speed. So that way the missiles will be more effective at tricking others.

Reguardless of the wait time they seem to have portrayed the sense of scale really well.

Anyone who has spent some time (or had training) using shotguns cycles the gun with the recoil. Not sure why games always have these gigantic pump sequences that take as long as reloading does.

"Captain, I'm detecting several hot singles in our imminent area."
Is the game worth it this point? I'm wanting to get into some space sims but I'm not wanting to spend £30 just to try it out.

well uh
at least there's no deadzone any more

Just picked up an umbrella and quickly aimed it at various points around the room. Sister asked if I was retarded, but I can conclusively say that my head swings slightly faster than a long piece of steel and plastic.
I'm sure that, if the gun delay thing is a problem and enough people complain, they'll change it. I honestly think it's annoying. Fun > realism in all cases, but time will tell. I'll see how it plays when the FPS module comes out.

It's too bad that no games (AFAIK) allow you to slam fire shotguns..
