Just picked up an umbrella and quickly aimed it at various points around the room. Sister asked if I was retarded, but I can conclusively say that my head swings slightly faster than a long piece of steel and plastic.
You aim with your gun, not with your face. Think about this for a moment - to sight a target as quickly as possible, you have to turn your head past it so as to make your gun catch up faster, then recenter over it when your reticule finally arrives to where you're pointing. There are really only 3 different ways to do free-aim and they chose the absolute worst.
star citizen in general has a p terrible artstyles the only things that dont suck are the ships, and even then theres a couple of ships that are a bit off take this, as an example: [t]http://i.imgur.com/2fpWvDs.jpg[/t] loads of clashing, and (imo, this is more personal) some questionable decisions it just really feels like theres a whole bunch of designers / artists and theyre not really working together or towards a defined direction
I think most of the ships suck too. Star Citizen has no cohesive design sense and it really turns me off. I've been critical of this since the very beginning. This is obviously getting into subjective territory, but I think Star Citizen is ugly. It's just an incomprehensible mess of anything somebody thought was cool with no thought about the bigger picture of the universe as a whole and how it works. It has no style. Hardly anything about the game makes me think "yeah, this looks like something from Star Citizen," because it's all so inconsistent and looks like it was designed for completely different universes following completely different rules. Throw in the fetishism for the false equivalence of complexity = realistic and you have horribly busy and conflicting designs that are hard to look at. On a technical level, Star Citizen's graphics are impressive. They're impressive in a "wow look at those poly counts" or "wow that's a high resolution texture." I admire Star Citizen for its technical accomplishments, not its aesthetics. And yeah, I think part of the reason it feels like a whole bunch of disparate designers doing what they want is because that's literally how the project started out. For the first year or so, the art was handled by so many different contractors and artists, none of which had a series Bible to work towards, and just did whatever they (and Chris Roberts) thought was cool. They were making it all up as they went. As their development studios have been consolidated, they've gotten a lot better at this, but the damage was already done because this all happened in Star Citizen's foundational years. The common excuse you see for this is that everything is made from different manufacturers, but I don't buy it. You can have things that look like they were from totally different places but still have them look like they all belong in the same universe. Star Wars excels at this, and both Homeworld and Freespace are great video game examples of strong art direction where things look very different, but all look like they belong together. Star Citizen's style is a kitchen sink of sci-fi tropes thrown together without care. It's not blended or mixed. They just threw a bunch of Star Wars, Babylon 5, Wing Commander, Battlestar Galactica, Macross, etc. toys into a pile and said, "Yeah, this is our universe."
Strange, I backed back in december, haven't played in a while, and received 15k uec anyway
I feel like the alien races are going to suffer from the opposite issue the Terran ships will, which is they'll have no variety and be entirely one dimensional.
Strange, I backed back in december, haven't played in a while, and received 15k uec anyway
it was a glitch in their distribution of a reward for new backers, but you're free to keep it.
I feel like the alien races are going to suffer from the opposite issue the Terran ships will, which is they'll have no variety and be entirely one dimensional.
we will never get a vanduul ship that isn't edgy mcedgerton spikelord

Shit's alpha, yo.
There are several 'legit' out of bounds glitches, one in the glass doors in Area 18 customs (the windows facing the landing pad with the Freelancer) that allows you, with some clever jumping, to get all the way around to the Connie being worked on below G-loc. The Connie's an empty shell inside, though, since you're not supposed to be able to get out there. If you do map replacements it's possible to spawn into Area 18 in Arena Commander mode, in a ship. However, basically only a Merlin is small enough to clip out of the spawn elevator without just exploding 100% of the time. From Reddit, Area 18 gets cyberpunk at random. [t]https://i.imgur.com/3eg4NnM.jpg[/t]

Somehow the music and vocal lines for the Hornet/Mustang/M50 commercials that play in Astro Armada got desynched, and the results were kind of interesting: [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1x2Ylio-c0[/hd] Also, CIG quietly added this to the ship specs page: [t]https://i.imgur.com/mw53Qrq.jpg[/t]

wait what is the genesis? so we have two pilotable spaceliners now?
wait what is the genesis? so we have two pilotable spaceliners now?
I think its technically the Genesis Starliner

Hahaha they couldn't even keep a steady frame rate for that video. If they can't even run it smoothly, I fear never being able to play the game smoothly myself.
Hahaha they couldn't even keep a steady frame rate for that video. If they can't even run it smoothly, I fear never being able to play the game smoothly myself.
Yeah, oddly enough, an unoptimized WIP has performance problems. Go figure.
I know, but developers generally have top of the line PC's, that was my point.
I know, but developers generally have top of the line PC's, that was my point.
pc specs mean nothing if there's terrible optimization and conflicts with how things load. Spawning a cutlass into AC just a few months ago meant my computer stopped for a second or two, some people complained of much longer freezes, but now you don't realize they're there the devs outwardly spoke about hitches they had recently, how there was a weird hangup with the social module where having more than 10-15 people in a server would cause the framerate to tank and they had to fix that hangup before launching it. I'd imagine something like a huge fly-through of an area like this nyx demo would be affected by many models not having LOD stand-ins for distant viewing, so when something gets within range to load (like the hangar base) it has to sit and load the full res models all at once, chugging away at processing.
where are the results for the survey on the threads title
Here's what we have so far from 44 respondents out of 100+ people registered for fpcorp.

Facepunch fleet, by the current chart's calculation, is nearing $13,000. $15,400+ if someone actually has the javelin
Form updated to include the three Vanguard variants, properly named, and the Vanguard variants option removed from the 'what do you plan to buy?' question. So now the plan is to steal a Starfarer (since the survey currently says we have none and the Gemini disappeared from the survey) with our Redeemer, 7 Talis, 5 Cutlasses, and assorted Connies, and then have half of those multicrew ships escort the Starfarer, filled with turnips cargo-masked to look like valuables, along with half a dozen/a dozen fighters (Hornet/Avenger/Gladius), and have Vanguards providing EWAR and fleet ops. Meanwhile, Korro's iron Aurora of doom transports the space meth 10km above and behind the convoy, running as cold as possible. Turnip convoys need to become an fpcorp specialty. We could use someone's Hull C instead of stealing the Starfarer, but why pass up an opportunity to steal a Starfarer? :v: Also, Polygon wrote a fair and decent article (archive.is mirror) about the current state of Star Citizen and the controversies that swing around it (fuelled in some small part by Polygon, thanks guys). The article's reasonably fair and comprehensive, but the comments section goes off the rails, and then he shows up and starts spewing his insane FUD about the FTC. Don't bother scrolling down past the end of the article, seriously.
Am I still the only Redeemer owner? Damn.

Because at some point I'm turning a Hull B into a moving casino filled with blackjack, hookers, and blow. And a black market for weaponry of course. Gotta sell the space cocaine to get the Hull B casino though. And I won't Donald Trump the casino up [editline]31st August 2015[/editline] I wish I had that screenshot of my party container in my freighter from EvE still :c
Am I still the only Redeemer owner? Damn.
I've been absolutely in love with the design of that ship since it came out of the next great starship competition, it's what first made me bite the bullet and check everything out. It's like, a much more hard military sci fi equivalent of the pelican ships in Halo, and those split nacelles are porn [t]https://i.imgur.com/xlqS5cS.jpg[/t] the problem I have is the interior layout is utter trash and the last we saw it, the nacelles had some goofy plasma wall stuck between them like someone stuck a giant wad of gum in there before they opened If I want a dropship I've got the tali (but will need to re-acquire the drop module ingame), and if I want a midsize gunship I've (for now) got the vanguard. Friend may buy the VG off me since he wanted it but was still waiting on some funds to open up at the time of the sale, but we'd be flying it together either way

Fill it in again, then, Dave. :weeb: Also, I think someone adjusted the alcohol intake in the Polygon offices, because they've just published another fair and reasonable article about SC (archive.is mirror), this time about the social module. I'd get a Redeemer, but I have no need for a Redeemer. I don't wanna make enemies big enough to need one of these under my ass in space until I can afford to outfit one to the tits in the PU and have a few friends in SHs running escort. And, I still plan on starting humble, despite owning multiple ships, and earning my way up. The other ships are just there if a special situation comes up until I'm ready to move into them and can afford to outfit them appropriately. Instead of trading in my Aurora when it comes time to move into a Hull B, I'll just switch ships in my hangar and fuck back off into space with an improved profit rate.

Only do it if you can afford to chuck $265 into a fireplace. [sp]do it[/sp]
help me
C'mon Cap, you've got better things to invest in.
Alright alright ya'll talked me down. I wasn't being 100% serious as much as I may like the vanguard. It doesn't help I also just got paid.
