[t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/qyi397wbqqsvqr/source/Burstcannon_revision5.jpg[/t] As of the outsourced concept art it was a "burst cannon". And, in-game, it displays in the AR interface as: [t]http://i.imgur.com/afmzTLx.jpg[/t] So, grenade launcher kind of thingy. It's not on the racks yet, but according to the gun WIPs posted to the Vault, this gun silhouette is the electric shotgun: [t]http://i.imgur.com/IH0HEgR.jpg[/t] This month's Subscriber hangar flair is the Terra ancient ruins chunk, and it's pretty nifty. [t]http://i.imgur.com/54HuoId.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/ywKVNTT.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/PWeclvE.jpg[/t] So, while gathering those screenshots, I, uh... [t]http://i.imgur.com/c0tNOaH.jpg[/t] ...accidentally started a cult based on the Area 18 garbage incinerator...
And, in-game, it displays in the AR interface as: [t]http://i.imgur.com/afmzTLx.jpg[/t]
Probably a placeholder price, I'm wondering what kind of money scale we'll have in the game. Like, 1'000'000 in Eve is almost an insultingly small amount of money but in RuneScape that amount could easily carry a beginner through the first hundred hours of the game, or in Rollercoast Tycoon that amount is nigh unfathomable.

Voyager direct is centred entirely around $1 = 1000 UEC so I'm expecting there'll be massive balance passes once the economic simulation is fleshed out beyond buying clothes in Area 18.

the 10FTC vid was pretty good, liked his comments (and the youtube comments) on open mic in public spaces
Imagine, sitting in a shady bar on an unregistered space station, watching a couple of dubious, rough looking guys conversing in a corner. You recognize one of them as a known pirate, responsible for more than a dozen murders and almost a hundred stolen ships. He opens his mouth and out comes the screeching voice of a 14 years old contorted by a cheap $3 mic: "Whatcha got? LOL XD", he says. The other, an alleged serial killer hunting RSI Orions in far off regions remains still, looking grim before his lips part, uttering hellish, inhuman noises, followed by "SRY my cat knocked over the lamp lol"

out comes the screeching voice of a 14 years old contorted by a cheap $3 mic: "Whatcha got? LOL XD"
"whatcha got loll ekksdee!" Anyone doing that in the PU is marked for a "Melon Delivery" [sp]ramming by Hull C full of antimatter bombs[/sp]
we all know people will stick to ingame text and private teamspeak/etc servers 90% of the time, and the only ones who feel entitled to talk for everything will be 12 year olds who'd forcibly use LOL/LMAO as words

[sp]I can finally play with that furry community[/sp] :v:

Coming from a classical composition background, it's super weird and interesting to see how they set up the recording and the entire relationship between composer and ensemble. I don't think he was even the one conducting, rather he sat in the auditorium. The vocals mix in later, and same with the percussion and piano. I'm actually pretty positive that even those are digital from a VST with a composition program when doing the editing at an audio level.

FPS status update. Smoothing out the too-rough-to-stay edges left by the big merge is taking longer than intended, but that's kind of to be expected when you're merging two modified-Cryengine branches that've been separate for ~7 months. Highlights from INN's notes about this week's RtV: - There will be a special RtV on Wednesday at 11am CIG LA time (the usual RtV time) with CR in attendance; questions will be drawn exclusively from the subscribers chat in the RSI chat system - They are considering doing one of these special subscriber RtVs every month in addition to the normal RtV - anyone can watch but the questions come from the subscribers chat instead of Twitch chat/RSI general - Sometimes Chris will ask Ben about Wing Commander trivia/stuff - There is talk about giving something special to all existing backers when they hit the 1 million backers mark (982,001 as of this line--when fps drops it'll obliterate 1mil); obviously, no details or confirmation - The next flyable ships will likely be the multicrew drop: Connie and Tali and possibly Cutlass. The Herald is being described as the next flyable single-seater (which I guess technically it is since the EWAR/comms/whatever officer is further back in the cabin, but that was a bit weird) - The multicrew drop, with the large-world Stanton System map and Qdrive and etc., will not automatically bring AC2.0 with it at the same time; the initial multicrew environment will be an entirely separate mode from AC2.0 and is basically the baby PU. Mining will go in here instead of in AC. - Direct from INN's notes: "The new image of the Ursa Rover that was on 10 for the Chairman a few weeks ago was something that David Hobbins just randomly put into Shotgun. He just felt like doing it. He doesn’t even work there anymore. [David Hobbins still does contract work for them on occasion though.]" - Zane is still in the UK for the UI summit; he's also been promoted to being a UI Director and is on a well-deserved vacation - Subscribers are now officially being worked into lore as the ICC Stellar Surveyors, whatever that actually turns out to be - Physical patches are in the works, aiming to have them ready for CitizenCon, will be sold on the site. SQ42 patch, UEE patch, etc. and a special ICC Stellar Surveyors patch available to subs The Issue Council is now live for everyone. And in this month's Jump Point, Ben wrote a lore article on InterDimensional Software, the makers of Star Marine. The 30th-century equivalent of John Romero apparently worked on a cancelled port of "3400 AD" before working on Henry Garrity's ULTIMATE III and eventually being hired away by Perigree to begin making games with the 30th-century John Carmack, with their first title together being Admiral Cool versus the Karate Dogs from Mars. :v: And Evar Messer and his totalitarian regime naturally replace Mechahitler and the Nazis in the Wolf 3D equivalent. Speaking of shithead, if people didn't see the thread on Reddit, Wulf aka "$25000+ backed" called his bluff and demolished his entire fake argument with one photo of a freshly-delivered FOIA request showing the FTC has never been contacted about CIG. As Wulf explained, we all know he's full of shit but here's incontrovertible proof to lay the matter to rest. Now with bonus hypocrisy.
wasn't filed under cloud imperium, it was RSI.
Now with bonus hypocrisy.
Oh my god, this is the best shit I ever seen.
In this month's Jump Point, they wrangled together as many devs who worked on the ArcCorp release as they could together for a group chat/interview. Apparently the doors were a real bitch and a half. Area 18 is also going to grow significantly; it's apparently going to gradually expand by ~3x as various social/PU features come online like shops, NPCs, landing sequences from space transitions, and so on. But possibly the most amazing thing I've seen so far: As of two months ago, Area 18's total polycount was "~23.7 million", and after the Behaviour team was done optimizing it, it was down to 12.6mil. The interview also included this bit in a discussion about third-read details (discussed previously with the helmets) and their guidelines for detailing environments: Also, on the topic of the Wednesday RtV for subscribers' questions, if anyone has questions they'd like to ask, post them here; I'll be there and can ask, and maybe others who subscribe might. This might be your chance to have your question answered by CR. Please make it clear that you're posting a question for the stream. Reminder to self: Ask if we'll ever get the option to change the colours of the walls/other pieces of our hangars and change the brightness/hues of the lighting. Hangar customization is confirmed to be coming, not anytime soon, but no sign repainting/light adjustments has been indicated either way, that I know of.

The ship paint system is well working, and the two major hurdles left to open the functionality up to players are the need to build a UI for it (and kill the old holotable along the way) and then getting all of the ships set up with the new paint system. Once more ships have come through the new pipeline process and are up to production standards, I'm sure ship painting will be a greater focus to push ahead.

did you really need to quote the entire thing
Lol, its a mix of georgian and armenian alphabet. wtf chris?
Yeah what the heck and completely screwing up with a random rock with writing on it. my immersion has been broken.... anyways, this game is coming along great. I cannot wait to multi crew with my roommates. Once that drops I will start my home alarm system so I can hit a button, set of a household alarm, and wake my roommates up when they need to start gunning pirates in the middle of the night on our Carrack. I have this all planned out.
He has a point. It's like Japanese character tattoos. They have potential to seem dumb if you fluently understand them.
maybe one day they'll release a patch that 1. actually boots up for me, and 2. doesn't redownload the entire fucking game.
2. doesn't redownload the entire fucking game.
that's the entire point of the new launcher, once you've downloaded it once for the new launcher it should only be doing the updated parts from that point on
Hmm. I let it fester on the loading screen as I went to work on my bike, and when I came back the game actually fucking loaded, holy shit. I got pretty excited to see that penguin-looking fighter in my hangar but was disappointed to see that it was only a trial. Also I thought everyone got a mustang added to their hangar? I couldn't find mine...
Everyone who was a backer as of New Years 2015 as a backer got a Takuetsu ship model of a Mustang, in a trophy display case. In the Self-Land hangar, I believe the trophy cases are behind you and to your left when you spawn in. You can place the ship(s) you own in your hangar from the My Hangar configuration page on the site.
that's the entire point of the new launcher, once you've downloaded it once for the new launcher it should only be doing the updated parts from that point on
When does this launcher go out? I'll sacrifice bandwidth for the game if I don't have to redownload everything again after that initial download.
When does this launcher go out? I'll sacrifice bandwidth for the game if I don't have to redownload everything again after that initial download.
a few weeks ago, it's the only way to play the game right now
It's already out. If you weren't forced to switch to the new launcher during 1.1.5/1.1.6, you will be the next time you try and play the game. If you don't have it, download it from the download page on RSI.
