If it's actually like that in the game that is going to be magical.
nice, though that explosion at the end felt super cheesed
holy fuck that was somethin else
I actually liked the explosion at the end. I'm assuming that's the ship taking damage, so eventually it will explode. I really liked the warp-pull to black as well, since you do actually die in this game. Your consciousness is just kept on file and resurrected when you die.
It's very cinematic. I like it.
EDIT: Apparently they changed the plans for death mechanics. Now you just nearly die and wake up in a medbay, missing limbs replaced with augments and covered in scars.

CR's been describing death like that, and not EVE-like "backup clone" stuff, since at least the beginning of 2015. I have never heard him describe it as anything else. It's always that you get rescued from the edge of death in some fortunate coincidence that's handwaved away - you're floating, unconscious and bleeding, in your EVA suit and scooped up at the last second by luck, or whatever. It's an in-universe justification for the respawn system.

Or you just die, and you're proceeded by your beneficiary.

you mean since death of a spaceman in 2013 :v:

Well, that's the permadeath mechanic once you run out of lives/"lucky chances", yeah.
If that video is even a slight representation of the kind of shit we'll have to deal with when taking damage then I am even more sold than I ever was. From the impact, to the fire that spreads by igniting the vapours FIRST and the "wee woo get the fuck out!" alarms it all just looks and feels glorious. A little improvement to the sounds and it'd be perfect.
The picture wasn't the first, ben liz and disco lando posted pictures of their faces next to security badges after lizzyf, the author of the circulating hitpiece from escapist, commented on twitter the security card was an ID card. This claim of ID tied into validity of a source used in the article.
It wasn't Per Se to attack Lizzy its more so it is just a phenomena that people do kinda like a rallying cry; For example when some person on twitter a while back said nurses were lazy because one was catching a couple z's in scrubs after a 24hr shift I remember seeing a whole lot of my friends and my girlfriend posting pictures of them "asleep on the job" afterwards. my point being it is not meant to be as an ill attack on her.
People feel vindicated with the general response from CIG and community, because it's said to be a push back or a stand against, but what about the next one and the next after that, or how the company rewards certain behavior that we've seen from experience makes communities "toxic" (I hate this definition, feels Orwellian)?
I wouldn't exactly say vindicated, as I haven't seen much in the way of people going to the extremes and using it justify their actions with this current controversy. I would say that the community feels there is more evidence to substantiate CIG's narrative due to the many errors that we've seen along with the questionably sloppy vetting process in The escapist's part. As for "toxic" communities this sums up my sentiment, mainly paragraphs 1-4 & 7-8.
hypothetically if I improved the fly by wire system by miles and in discussion I say, "well they didn't do this because they were incompetent", not as an insult but compare it to a child who knows simple math to wanting something that requires solving the gradient, how will I be punished? Or if I come out now with a video statement directly at CIG (or even an even slipt at the escapist) that shows the error in their ways and asks for compassion and humility. Will my funding be recalled, I'm pro-gg and I've said DS has said sane things I agree with (while I disagree with him on others)?
I'll admit to the thought of releasing a bingo or drinking game before Citcon on possible statements bashing GG, escapists, and DS. The drinking game would have strong drinks depending on the level of BS, to drinking water that GG sees as sane ( genuine humility and compassion for who they accused). Imagine the foot in Chris's mouth and the audience who will cheer like an apple crowd, even make a video companion with the dings and counter.
That's terrible, that doesn't solve anything. But if slander dose happen and you agree with him please spread the message of kindness and not to fall ill to ill deeds, even imgur my writing if it's good enough.
I doubt we'll see any of this shit in CitCon, CIG has always been good at keeping it professional. I'm not sure if you're imagining a bashing to be going on but I implore you they will not, CitCon is not some podcast drama circlejerk it is about the game for the love of the game.
sorry for bringing us off topic again :v:
to the earlier conversation, Derek is smart- not in any business or game development sense, but in that he knows how to stir shit well. He very clearly knew the talking points and time to strike, where the average person without better context to a situation would easily nod their head in agreement. Big news had hit early this summer with an anticipated alpha thing being delayed "indefinitely", tensions were high and misconceptions over the word 'indefinitely' were easy to misinform people over
His actions are sheer anti-competitor sabotage and it's really weird that people gloss over that fact to point out one or two wild accusations could have merit
See, I'm not sure sure his actions, even if intended as anti-competitor sabotage, have that effect. Because Star Citizen's backers have surged in recent days, and you couldn't pay me to play his piece of shit game.
Remember that time when Ithon legit believed in DS's conspiracy theories?
Did I saw that I got confused thinking Chris Robbert's real wife (does he have one, now I forget), as head of PR. Yeah no, anything derogatory against CIG has made me weaker in tolerance in reading it. Like the escapist article I only brushed through it and closed the tab.
This air of doubt and FUD is exactly what he wants to engineer. He's not a very good game developer or project manager, but he's not stupid.
I'm not talking about the doubt, put everything said opposing CIG into a black box and one can't see what's coming out just people from CIG and the community and what choices are being said in response. That is what DS what's to engineer, not just the doubt, but the embolden and hostile crowd, that I've seen before, not so much in online communities but with real people, some you would say "I used to know them". I've had people somewhat like DS try to befriend me, they didn't like it when I disagreed with them on issues that made them look bad in a cold and mechanical fashion.
And, again, for the record, there is no reason to involve Gamergate and Star Citizen with each other except for the fact that DS did it first, and then Chris Roberts made the poor decision to stay up all night writing an angry vent of a post in which he spun up some half-assed conspiracy theory between DS, GG, Lizzy, and the troll behind 'Bandit' who CR accused of being an alt of Lizzy after failing to remember how Twitter works. The fact that you're bringing it up and expecting people to bash one group with false associations to the other just shows that you're playing right into DS's hands.
I did see some bashing in the SC reddit, so I was being general. I haven't checked the RSI forums.
A reference of being based is that I doubt I can submit models to shroud of the avatar (they have a system were people can get paid per model or model set they produce for the game), because of what I believe in (being pro GG).
What's more likely? There is a major coverup being perpetuated by the community team and the main figures at CIG to keep silent stories of HR impropriety, illegal hiring practices, and rude and hostile interactions with employees... or a documented, self-described troll dragged up a few disgruntled ex-employees who have some resentment to work out making shit up to damage a competing project's PR?
I'm still believing in my hypothesis that it's people frauding escapist and left obvious gaps while fooling more precocious methods. Anything that could be true can't be determined, but I believe it's someone playing to DS's statements. I find it bizarre on escapist's part, but that's not what I'm talking about, again black box.
It wasn't Per Se to attack Lizzy its more so it is just a phenomena that people do kinda like a rallying cry; .... my point being it is not meant to be as an ill attack on her.
I do not like rally cries like that, like msnbc putting a hoodie on as a solidarity statement for something they should be non-biasly covering is just one example.

sorry for bringing us off topic again :v:
for forgiven, :P I really hope it doesn't.
I'll leave my replays off with the context part, I've seen people I know become inhospitable people along the lines of the statements to who they looked up to professionally. Now on the side of compassion, I used to be apart of a now dead game community, I'll spare the details but one review PC Gamer was so bad it said things that were not true (you could side block when it said it can't). But that make a war cry againt PC Gamer, no we kept trying to be nice to people who were misinformed. And we had trolls, but at least one just stopped because we didn't get flamed or just barely. I'm not saying this will happen to DS nor to bend over to him, but if people are misinformed even when irate be calm and not accept RSI's mistake in fanning the flames to become inflamed or mocking people who are misinformed even if they did shitty things. Be persistent in kindly discussing the misinformation and be welcoming, it can feel harder or un-rewarding but it pays off in the end. If you can't be kind be professional, the exception is sometimes for knee jerk reactions that can happen to the best of us.
Also sometimes my mind jumbles words around, sorry about that.
On RSI stuff, did The Verse screw up by cutting off the empire report? Also the explosion felt a little flat? I loved what was accomplished but didn't have the satisfying hollywood boom.
Sorry to interrupt, but here's some really cool explosions.

Like I said, first chapter is missing.
I honestly feel like I need to decipher what Ithon is posting. Sorry man, but you need to slow down a bit.
If it wasn't put here.
I wanna apologize for earlier, I didn't mean to come off as abrasive and I also didn't mean to be a giant fucking douchenozzle.
Sorry folks, I went and did a dumb.

TL;DW damaging smaller components will cause them to start malfunctioning and damaging other components. Eventually this spirals out of control and the whole thing explodes.
Right?

Now that CitizenCon is today, anyone that wants can show up on the TS3 server during the livestream, like we did during the gamescom livestream.

What the fuck is going on in here you money wasting shitlords? Seriously I haven't been following things for over a month and decided to pop back in on a drunken whim. Has CR become literally Hitler or something? Just skimming the last two pages make it sound like CIG did something ridiculous.

But they didn't. Long story short: The Escpaist wrote an article about how shit CIG treats their employees(They don't). Their proof was fake stuff manufacutered by Derek Not-So-Smart and gamergaters jumped on the bandwagon as the Escapist is their high fortress and start bashing CIG as well. CIG put out a statement telling them to pull back the article and apologize. Guess what, they didn't pull the article and now things are in the air.

So nothing of note has happened, gotcha. Has anything come of the planetside module or is it still in the works?

Not sure how you missed it but you can already play a bit of the planetside module aka Arc Corp. If your client is up-to-date just go to the elevator and you can wander around Arc Corp.

Well, I remember it being talked about, but not released. Then I started moving and fell off from SC's development and literally just now decided to look into it again. Like I said, I'm pretty drunk so I haven't bothered to do much more than glance at the last two pages of this thread.
Stay tuned for CitizenCon 2015's livestream, T-minus 8 hours.
