I caved melted my avenger and Gladius and got a saber, It makes me happy inside
Fuck it... No more Starfarer. Avenger, Hornet, Retaliator, and a Sabre
That's the spirit!
Care to give even one supporting argument for that? :v:
Three years and $90 million and all they can show for it is a bland space hallway simulator with lip syncing that doesn't even line up. They spent more time gushing about the motion capture studio they bought than showing gameplay, and what little canned gameplay they did show wasn't groundbreaking in the slightest to justify any of the hype. If this game ever does come out the way they've advertised it, I will eat my own shit.
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH holy shit people like this still exist
I feel the same about you. (User was banned for this post ("Threadshitting" - dai))
If this game ever does come out the way they've advertised it, I will eat my own shit.
Please please please swear a Toxx for that
I went to buy a Sabre, then I found the ship upgrade page. Then I realised I bought a Reliant under the influence and I didnt want it nor my Herald any longer. So after long deliberation I slipped with the buttons and bought one of these...
Please please please swear a Toxx for that
Sure. In the meantime I've got a jpeg of a spaceship to sell you for $500 if you're interested.

Let's not forget that you quite clearly have no fucking idea how long a decent game takes to develop and how much money that eats. An example people at your level would probably understand: Grand Theft Auto 5 took about 4 years to develop and cost about 265 million USD with about 1000 people working on it. Would you call this a scam or unfinished piece of shit as well after three years of development if you pre-ordered and showed barebones pre-alpha gameplay?
This is borderline shitposting by now, if it isn't real shitposting already.
If he isn't I think it's about high time we make one of those haha oh boy here we go again posts and just drop that when necessary. [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] (unrelated but also related) So Squadron 42 has 10 hours of performance capture, which is basically just cut scenes and action interludes and interactions with side characters. If you toss in the regular game play along with that and do all the content on the side, that's... a long game. The way Chris described the character interaction it sounds almost like Persona, with each one having a story arc and progressing that benefits the player

GTA5 did not change its direction numerous times mid development, and with all the proposed modules and features of Star Citizen, with ten hours of cutscenes and ship invasions and everything else they've promised their fans it sounds like they are trying to make something ten times the scope of GTA5 with a fraction of the budget. Never mind the fact that Chris Roberts has not even made a game in twelve years and has now set out to make the most ludicrously ambitious game ever conceived instead of anything even remotely focused and feasible. I don't think even GTA5's budget would be enough to make the game he is proposing. But that's not what someone who has already sunk thousands into this idea wants to hear, so I guess that makes me a shitposter.
ten times the scope of GTA5 with a fraction of the budget.
Actually the development of GTAV was $137 million. The other 128 was just marketing. Star Citizen has $90 million so far. If they were to stop receiving money this second (unlikely), they'd still have 65% of the GTAV budget. When people say "a fraction" they usually aren't referring to more than half. Taking into account the fact that CIG is paying below the industry standard (and yes, there are devs who have left because it wasn't enough) and only have a 1/3 the number of developers, that $90 million is gonna a long way.
Paying less than standard wages, people are already leaving, It's like you guys are doing all my arguing for me.
Paying less than standard wages, people are already leaving, It's like you guys are doing all my arguing for me.
Yeah man, they're absolutely bleeding staff. Look at the number of people quitting knowing full well that they aren't going to be paid industry standard [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] And many are doing several hours overtime each day without a single cent of compensation. Gee I wonder if there's some kind of factor besides pay that drives a person do such a job
And what's going to compel them to stay? The honor of working on the biggest pipe dream in the industry? You've conceded that they are cheaping out on what is supposed to be the savior of PC gaming and saying that lower wages will make $90 mil go "a long way" is some pretty severe mental gymnastics. If you've paid as much into this as it seems like you have, you should be worried. They haven't sold you a game, they've sold you an emotion.
And what's going to compel them to stay? The honor of working on the biggest pipe dream in the industry?
Showing results for: Star Citizen Search instead for: NASA

Working on this pipe dream is pretty much exactly what is compelling them to stay. Lowering wages makes the budget last longer. You act like the developers are some kind of machines that turn money into game at a 1:1 ratio. The game is coming along so well because it's a labour of love. Not even doubling their pay wouldn't make this game good if the developers weren't interested.
If you've paid as much into this as it seems like you have, you should be worried.
$50. So basically if Star Citizen fails I'll have wasted two hours of my life working on checkouts. What a tragedy that would be.
What a tragedy that will be.
Fixed that for you.

Without changing or expanding its planned scale once. On a budget of 260 - 137 of that for development alone - million US Dollars. Every single one of your arguments is hereby invalidated. I've quoted you here, and will indeed expect you to eat your own shit and prove it upon release of Star Citizen.
Fixed that for you.
Someone who clearly has no idea how stuff looks in alpha stage and how rapidly stuff develops once the core functionality is in playable state. Basically, in most cases everything you see in the game will be unpolished and ugly before theres an actual working base to work on. I'm actually impressed how much theres already done in the time i have followed developement of Star citizen. What my main point is: Beginning - 99% work on internals you won't see 1% visuals and actual gameplay Middle - 90% work on internals 10% gameplay and content End - 20% work on internals 80% visuals and content These numbers are bullshit, but the idea should be clear. Once you have engine of the game, you can rapidly add content and gameplay to the game. Until then the product is not really impressive unless you are programmer (and get to look at source code).
so I guess that makes me a shitposter.
yes, it does. what are you doing here? clearly you're smart enough to see through the bullshit of this scam so why did you click the thread? do you think you can convert us deluded fanatics who blew our life savings on vaporware with these same rehashed arguements that have been going for years? if you haven't already, check out @dsmart on twitter, he will be very happy to receive your complaints. he has an echo chamber going that rivals the most fanatic of star citizen fans'
I feel like I'm taking a bit of a gamble with SC I won't lie, but a game like this wouldn't happen any other way this day and age. Maybe we should wait before its called a success or failure later down the road? If you want to wait later to board the train or not at all that's cool too cause no one is going to force you on.
If you want to wait later to board the train or not at all that's cool too cause no one is going to force you on.
Can't wait until the year is 2021 and they add a F2P microtransaction model to attract hordes of facebook users, I'll finally get to be a bittervet and complain about how I spent backed before hangar was even out
It's funny. When I hate something, I usually avoid it fully. Threads about games I don't like? I just ignore them. But I guess people just have to let everyone know their personal opinion on how shitty your game is.
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/squadron42
thats literally just having more money than sense right there
thats literally just having more money than sense right there
How? Getting a Celebrity cast was one of the stretch goals. You also have to remember that there not just doing voice work, it's full performance capture, so good actors are needed. While they are quite well known and popular people, they aren't exactly on the same level or cost as someone like Tom Cruise would be. Also, some of them have worked with Chris before, which is something that would have influenced getting them again. Mark Hamill and John Rhys Davies were both in the Wing Commander games.
Mark Hamil and Chris are quite close apparently going off one of Mark's twitter posts yesterday. Frankly, everything about the project is fine by me so far except Star Marine and that has been a clusterfuck for the past year and it's also the part of the game I care least about and wish they weren't bothering with as it reminds me far to much of X-Rebirth. The 10-hours of cutscenes thing might be good, I don't know. I really want SQ42 to be fun and hopefully even if the acting is bad and the writing a bit dull that the missions themselves are fun to play through, I need a Freespace 2 fix.
thats literally just having more money than sense right there
No it's more like delivering what was promised.
