but that would require him to understand these to make such a thing in the first place

I think when people say the FPS part they're specifically referring to the shooter part, not the first person part. Despite being impressive on a technical level for all the things it has to deal with, Star Marine looks exceptionally mediocre in execution as a shooter. It reminds me of how awful Operation Flashpoint felt to play in close quarters.
I think it still needs to be there, though. Star Citizen is trying to be Star Wars/Star Trek/Battlestar Galactica: The RPG, so you need all of these aspects to come together. That includes an on-foot shooter component. Which means they really need to get it right if they want to have a solid foundation for a good game.
How can i try the social module ?
Do i need PTU ?
If yes how do i enable it on the new launcher ?

Download the non-ptu build and then go to the elevator behind the doors where you spawn.

If you're on the latest stable version and you're a backer, it couldn't be easier. No PTU needed (or active right now AFAIK so you couldn't anyway).
Just walk through the door in the back of your hangar (it works now!) and enter the elevator and select ArcCorp - A01. You'll have a loading screen and transition into ArcCorp. F2 will enable the basic AR interface that'll eventually become MobiGlas, so you can use it to 'look at' the storefronts in the clinic and in Cubby Blast.
There isn't much to do on ArcCorp right now except look around and chat with about 20 random backers who've been slotted in the same instance as you, but this initial release was about getting it out at all, and things will be expanding in the next update, 1.3, including adding drivable buggies and apparently some way to die in buggies (since a respawn system is being added in the same patch).
Can you bring people back from the Social Module to your Hangar/their Hangar to see other player's ships?

Also trying to glitch through the wall to get to otherwise blocked off sections.

Also, we're over $92mil. DS must be livid. :v:
Looking at cubic motion and 3lateral, where quite a few go for mo cap, Until Dawn went there, ryse did it too, and some other studios as well. So the shine light into pupils is a new thing which studio is going to opt for and sounds like it's a simple plugin. Also they showed better demos then the S42 one, I think it's really the cryengine's fault.

he's probably going to make an excuse saying it would had been higher if not for him.
Also, not even going to look for it to link it, but DS had a stream of citcon for him to give live commentary. Someone in a chat said his twtich had ads enabled. So just don't go there, it's probably going to tmblr trigger you.

Still near-infinitely higher than his current titles. :v:
The next time I feel like deciding between sticking my head in a blender and browsing 4chan, I'll go look watch that stream instead.

it's why you go to fullchan then halfchan, also learn blender studio then stick your head into a real one.
edit: oh wait I just when to 8chan and his face is sticked.
guys... i'm getting Dosh from a settlement and I'm torn, buy more stock or armada?
Why can't I stop watching the Senate speech?
Why can't I stop watching the Senate speech?
Because Admiral Bishop is the fucking man.

I wanna know the context of that.
guys... i'm getting Dosh from a settlement and I'm torn, buy more stock or armada?
I'd make some reasonable purchase (by that I mean one or two specific ships, not a big-ticket combo pack) in SC and use the rest elsewhere, personally. If you're spending over a grand you should think very hard about the justifications for not putting that money elsewhere -- I'm not judging you if you go ahead and spend it on SC, but you should be comfortable with the transaction. 'Cause you won't see it again unless you greymarket LTI concepts or something. :v:

someone stated their name as DS and people jumped on or something then at one point everyone was named DS. At least that's what I'm getting the impression on, also there are several shit posting threads instead of just one hub.
Just a question about the lore/real life: If the empire in Star Citizen is supposed to be based off of the Roman Empire, what happened in real life that is a parallel to the SynthWorld project?
Just a question about the lore/real life: If the empire in Star Citizen is supposed to be based off of the Roman Empire, what happened in real life that is a parallel to the SynthWorld project?
It's a sign of the hubris of the empire and a drain on their finances; I'm not a historian so I can't pinpoint what bled Rome's bank account aside from the billion little and big costs to maintaining a sprawling empire.
Also, a technical artist not involved in Star Citizen (but current on the professional industry talks CIG/contractor techartists give) wrote a long and awesome post about Star Citizen's model detailing and how clever and efficient it is at providing very high detail for comparatively little overhead.

I think the shader for skin and other parts of the face need to be improved in the cryngine, this from my previously stated observations.
Oh, looking at the reddit link above cryengine locks people out of those shaders. That's not good.

It's basically the reason they set up a studio in Frankfurt
legal red tape, unless they have access to the entire source code.
here's the possible job positions

https://www.cloudimperiumgames.com/jobs/230-Senior-Graphics-Engineer
legal red tape, unless they have access to the entire source code.
AFAIK they purchased a license for full source code access to Cryengine. There was basically no limit to the size of the check they could write to get Crytek's cooperation -- and if the price was too high they would've gone to a different engine instead, probably.
Unreal was too new if I remember correctly in a comment about why cryengine.
also meant to post here
wait, what happened to this studio?
Unreal was too new if I remember correctly in a comment about why cryengine.
Well, yeah, they would've had to settle for something other than Cryengine, or just put up with not being able to crack open quite everything -- and if they'd settled for less than Cryengine, there would've probably been a transition to UE4 and that would've been the big ugly delay instead of The Year of FPS Coming Soon.
AFAIK the mocap/greenscreen studio that they build is secondary to the Hollywood-grade mocap they got Imaginarium to do for SQ42. I don't know if it's being used while they instead make use of the Imaginarium studio time to get basic walks and positions for fps while they were getting warmed up on doing the capture before the celebrity talent showed up.
Upgrading them is fine but DO NOT MELT THEM. Last time I checked Scout packages sold for $130 on grey market, so you could sell that and upgrade the other or something.
where would a grey market even be.

So, the patches quietly slipped into the merch section of the store while nobody was looking, and they're going fast. If you're a subscriber and you see this message really fucking soon, you might be able to get in on the subscriber-exclusive set with the ICC Stellar Surveyors patch, but when I saw this page there were 19 left, and as I post this there are 15 left (no, I did not buy all four). However, given that it's a preorder, if they sell out I bet they'll refill the stock sometime this week.
Lore-related content specific to the subscriber patch page for non-subs:

Xi'An Scout confirmed for carrying two S3 lasers and possibly two S2 lasers, and a jump drive, fits in any jump point. Nice. 270m/s top speed in the existing system puts it on par with the Mustang Omega as of current stats. Once the Scout's flyable I'll test it versus the Omega, and I may end up turning my Omega into something else, like a 315p (only $10 more)... but at the same time, AMD-package Omegas are going to be a rarity in the PU unless they repeat the promo constantly between now and launch.
And, I'm pretty sure the Scout's snowflake front profile is much larger than a Mustang so fitting through race gates may be a real challenge. If I have to pull off face-down vertical translations to make it through gates, I will never complain about having to roll-pitch turn an Aurora ever again. :v:

Bought as hell. First thing I've paid RSI for since Nov '13, they're perfect to stitch onto my messenger bag.

Saved $4 paying in Euro instead of USD
