Was there even a chance 2.0 would hit PTU this week or was it just baseless speculation>
Chris Roberts had awkwardly finished the Citizencon presentation with something along the lines of "AC 2.0 is coming in..... two...." I guess a few extremely optimistic hopefuls assumed that meant two weeks. I'm hoping it means two months, 'cause the unit after that is a little too long for such a thing.

two moons
Two total solar eclipses.
two perfect blood moons. Or crytrek engine versions from now.
two console generations from now. We're moving away from PC!
I spent the evening playing Arena Commander, and I'm getting back into the swing of things with the Hornet changes. Two things I think that the Hornet needs in order to be properly competitive again are some more maneuverability (Without being suddenly the most maneuverable ship around) and more efficient cooling on the canard guns. Barring that, the hull strength and shield strength need a buff - If it's going to be a sitting duck, let it tank more damage. It's pretty bad that the 325A has only slightly less health than the Hornet, given how maneuverable it is. Properly the Hornet should be in the realm of the Cutlass, if not the Gladiator. Made it to wave 11 on Vanduul swarm without taking any hull damage or losing a ship, and then I slammed into an asteroid and decided I was done for the evening.
Is it known whether the Hull [Whatever] ships can strip out the cargo containers and replace them with docking clamps for fighters? I want a freighter-carrier like the TM class ships in X3.

It'd be a great way for small corps to keep everyone together, and you could pull some 'surpise!' moments on pirates if they don't realize those ships aren't all locked down for storage. :qsex101: In X3, the TM freighter-carriers are one of the first purchases I make once I get a fighter. I keep most of my jumpdrive fuel in the freighter and dock with that to jump, use the freighter to pick up cargo, and dock all salvaged ships to it to transport them to a shipyard for repair or sale. Why the hell do I have a non-merged double post less than a minute apart on two separate page?
I rewrote and rerecorded that teaser/intro I did for my Star Citizen character. [editline]a[/editline] Added music.
Resident 30th-century equivalent of Alex Jones, Parker Terrell, says the Battle of Vega II was an inside job.
Let’s looks at some facts, shall we? Senator Polo does the Empire a huge favor and, for the first time in decades, if not centuries, makes an extremely admirable attempt to curtail out-of-control military spending. After being stymied by the Senate, the true power of democracy comes to bear and the Citizens of our grand political experiment will be given the final say in the matter. Now, just as the voting for this groundbreaking initiative is wrapping up, what happens? A Vanduul Kingship decides to pay the poor people of Vega a visit. I find it interesting that when the Vanduul could have attacked at any time, they somehow managed to choose to launch an all-out assault in the middle of a vote that would slash the military’s overly inflated budget, don’t you? Especially when you take into account that it’s been well over fifty years since the last time a Kingship entered a Human-controlled system. It seems that we’ve had no trouble keeping the invading clans at bay since then, so we as responsible, skeptical individuals have to ask, why now? Why Vega? Was Admiral Bishop under orders to let a Vanduul fleet through so that the military could show unequivocally that the Empire still needs to funnel them trillions of Credits every year? Think about this. We know from first-hand reports that the 2nd Fleet was already in place near Vega II when the attack happened. Why would the full mass of the fleet be gathered there if they didn’t expect an imminent fight?
The Jump Point article on InterDimension Software (makers of Star Marine, Tiger 3D, ULTIMATE: Downbelow, and Admiral Cool) is now up for all to read. Drama Shit: [sp]Shithead's moved on to cyberstalking and doxxing, with photos, wheelchair-bound high school students for changing his SA avatar. You guys think 2.0 will be out before anniversary sale? Which may be November 19th. If they do, they could net a lot of sales.

The 2.0 release and anniversary sale will make a lot of sales for them. If 2.0 arrives before or on the anniversary, it could raise quite a lot. People will be very tempted to buy multi crew ships and others.
Funny thing is, from that excerpt of yours, it actually makes a little sense. Alex Jones never, ever makes sense.
Well, you have to realize that Parker is an unreliable narrator and has asserted witnessing things that may have been hallucinations. However, even as an unreliable narrator, his insane conspiracy theories and rantings may have a grain of truth to them. There has definitely been a building to this point: Fora system is starving; discontent with the UEE is growing in all corners of the empire; the Polo Initiative took OUR VOTES as support to reduce the military's funding; the SynthWorld project has probably drained the empire's coffers of enough money to pay for 50 years of food and is still an absolute failure on all fronts. Things aren't going to get much better for a while, I fear. Remember that another Parker Terrell lore post claimed that a disease outbreak was a manufactured quarantine by the UEE as a cover story to 'disappear' anti-empire political activists -- literally murdering people who've been "quarantined" (really, arrested illegally) and saying the disease did it. If the UEE really is as desperate as it seems, Terrell may be more right than anyone suspects. That's the fun of unreliable narrators and rolling lore.
You guys think 2.0 will be out before anniversary sale? Which may be November 19th.
The anniversary sale is confirmed to start on the 19th, as that's when the anniversary livestream is happening and it kicks off the sale. Confirmed in last week's RtV and noted in my notes about it. I think they'd like to get Alpha 2.0 out on at least PTU for the anniversary sale; that'd be an awesome announcement to make just before the end of the stream. The hype levels would go into space. This far out, I think it's too early to tell. The blockers now (as of the last friday status report) are crashes involving ballistic weapons, missing assets on some particles and helmet interiors, and the zero-g push-pull system having a serious physics bug that kicks players out into deep space. Most of the changes in the last friday report were smaller fixes and the gruntwork of getting things ready and polished, and not the "retargeting 3,000 animations holy shit we're gonna be [del]so poor[/del]here for months" kind of things we were hearing back in the summer. So... it's possible that they'll get it out on/near the anniversary celebrations and be able to score fucktons of sales, but AC1.0 was the result of CIG rushing to release on deadline to please backers and everyone saw just how great that turned out. They've held back Star Marine this whole time in order to prevent a repeat experience, and then it got to a point where just jumping ahead to pushing out the baby PU made more sense. 12,345, whee
So is anyone else unable to do any multiplayer in AC? I can't connect to Arc Corp or spectrum matches, keeps giving me a Code 13 can't connect to host. Nevermind. I deleted my user folder... :v:
Oh, so that's why I made it to wave 11 in Vanduul Swarm in a hornet, unscathed. There's an error message that pops up around the time that the Vanduul start using their heavy weapons, and this error prevents any NPC from firing their weapons from that point forward. I just finished Vanduul Swarm without a scratch thanks to that, all eighteen waves. CIG needs to patch that ASAP.

I can't quite identify the ship in the fourth picture. Any ideas? Wait, is that the Vanguard?
I don't know how much more I can wait.
I can't quite identify the ship in the fourth picture. Any ideas? Wait, is that the Vanguard?
Looks like the back of the Gladiator to me.
I hope with 2.0 they add in an EVA emergency beacon if you have to eject, that way your buddies can find you. Cause that kinda thing is hard in AC as it is right now, can't imagine what it'd be like with the size crusader is...
