It is terrify--wait, wrong thread. Seems that there's a post about the Cutlass being prepared, although it's not likely to go out this week. Apparently the Cutlass that's going to initially drop with Alpha 2.0 is going to be the 'old' Cutlass and not the revamped model, which makes sense considering how long the Connie revamp took and the Cutlass revamp started much later. However, it supposedly will have the new damage system, which should mean Cutlasses are not exploding lag traps. The post is also said (by the guy writing it, in his RSI forum posts) to answer the questions as to why the Cutlass revamp isn't ready yet (above and beyond the probable obvious things above). We're just shy of $94mil. Everyone's holding their breath for the anniversary sale in two weeks.
The Lego Ideas hornet concept was the only one not rejected outright this season. They're still trying to pursue that, but there are no promises yet.
The Lego Ideas hornet concept was the only one not rejected outright this season. They're still trying to pursue that, but there are no promises yet.

What happens now? This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A "LEGO Review Board" composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We'll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.
It's certainly playable, safety is just a matter of slapping on an age rating, but this is the criteria I'm concerned about. But considering Lego standards, being in review for over a year now means they're definitely giving it thought.
Honestly, if they can make Lego Star Wars work, and Lego Space work, there's no reason they can't do Lego Star Citizen. I'd be surprised if they hadn't already considered doing a whole branded line, and I'd imagine they're at least in talks with CIG about the Ideas set, if nothing more.
I would kind of buy the shit out of well-designed, original, creative LEGO interpretations of SC ships, as long as the price didn't exceed the cost of the digital original (especially post-$200 ships). I mean, come on, who wants to see an official Lego Aurora now? Lego's built for that wireframey cage style. You know some fan would/is going to try and build a huge replica of a Gold Horizon ring station. Or the Shubin mining facility Argo (the 6km-long monster station for SQ42), once its layout and detail can be analyzed in-game. Phil from the Foundry 42 Audio Team here. I want to apologise to anyone who may have been offended by the region naming mishap in the audio segment of Around the Verse: Episode 2.05 Oct 29. 2015. This wasn’t by any means intentional, looks like I may have accidentally forgotten to rename the recording track which embedded its name into the audio files when bouncing out. I’ll certainly be more diligent in the future! Please note* No tunnels were hurt in the making of the star map audio or the ATV video. All the best, Phil
...honestly? Sigh. I mean, I guess screencapping f-bombs isn't exactly sticking to Chris's general edict of keeping the video broadcasts family-friendly, and backers definitely share SC hype with their teens and little kids, but... Interesting dev responses further up in that thread, though. Also, Friday will have the October monthly report go up. About him, he's projecting so hard I've taken to calling him IMAX Smart. [t]https://i.imgur.com/96ZocbY.jpg[/t] Here he is attacking Sandi yet again by calling into question her PhD. This from a man who "holds" two "degrees" from admitted degree mills and actively hid and lied about the (lack of) accreditation status of the (also long-hidden) "schools" his degrees were from. And, honestly, $94 million says more than a piece of paper -- DS has neither. :cat:

Maybe Derek Smart is a troll for hire because SC is in that bad of development hell. I'm only trying to make lite of this because of how bad he's gotten.
After missing his own self-imposed deadline of yesterday (lol), shithead posted another blog post today and shared the password behind spoiler tags on SA. Naturally, Reddit employed their devious hacker tools and clicked the spoiler tag to reveal the password and archived it faster than shithead could change the password. All you need to know is contained in this (mercifully) brief excerpt:
that’s when backers start “melting” their ship inventory. This is a method whereby you sell (to the Star Citizen store) your ship, usually for less (depending on the package it was in) than you paid for it, in order to raise money to buy something else.
Or, in short, I've read half of it and trust me when I say you're missing nothing. There are valid criticisms on the project but you will find none of them there. Soooo never mind him, and, on-topic news time. New lore post about a celebrity fundraiser and charity auction to benefit Aremis in the wake of the Vanduul attack. It drops various kinds of lore bits here and there, including that the coordinates of the jump point into Tamsa system (with a black hole in the center, as seen in the starmap) are a secret while the UEE surveys the system, two years after discovery. I've a feeling that we should use the starmap to draw up lists of places that would be advantageous to start at based on different professions, e.g. the closest system with a jump point a Carrack or Endeavour can fit through (if any) to Tamsa would be a good starting point for someone who wants to start by exploring, especially if they own a big ship (but they could also probably work their way up to one starting in a 315p, if CIG does science right and there's enough to find to support the mechanic as a viable economy). Today's video is about fixing a horribly-unoptimized visual trace skip routine (i.e. don't attempt to target your own ship if you're looking through the cockpit to look at the targets you want).
So, I cant help but ask, but what is going on with the incident happening right now? I am pretty out of the loop and would like to see a straight answer.
So, I cant help but ask, but what is going on with the incident happening right now? I am pretty out of the loop and would like to see a straight answer.
What incident is that? If you mean the Escapist article/possible lawsuit filed by CIG, it's quiet on that front, which means the lawyers are talking, and I think both CIG and The Escapist want this problem to go away more than anything else because, whether or not the original story was intended to be from the start, The Escapist's coverage has been (inevitably) co-opted into a vehicle of shit by I'm A Dick Yeah I Am. Whatever good there could been in that story has been wiped out by the shitshow that followed. If you mean Derek Smart, well, he's a career troll that has latched onto Star Citizen because of his long-time jealousy of Chris Roberts, who's actually released good games by comparison.
Are the devs still making new ships? I'd like to become a backer, but I'm not sure I want to buy any of the ships they have for sale at the moment. The 890 Jump is by far my favorite, but yeah, cost and availability makes that one a no-go.

If you want to be a backer but (somehow) don't like any of the ships then just buy the cheapest one, all ships in the game can eventually be acquired through gameplay.
..But they are still making new ships?
Their marketing strategy relies on income from these ships. In any case, since they've streamlined their ship-making workflow, they're able to push those out much, much faster than before, with just a fraction of the manpower. Since they've got over 240 people in total working on the game, those working on ships aren't going to put a dent in their ability to push out other content.
There are still a few wave 4 ships yet to come, namely the Anvil Crucible repair ship and the Esperia Prowler (modified human replica of a Tevarin boarding ship). Those are the last two ships unlocked in stretch goals (before stretch goals stopped $29mil ago) that have not yet had, at minimum, concept sales. There are also ships that have not been revealed (and probably won't be offered for concept) that will be available in the game itself. There's also the entire Vanduul fleet, but they're basically not intended for pledge (exceptions made for the Scythe and such) that was revealed to be actually pretty far along in the leaked build from the spring. With the caution that it was a stray remark from Ben Lesnick on an RtV several months back, it was mentioned that this fall is going to see a wave 5 of ships, handled much like wave 4 was: A poll will go up with options for various ship roles, we vote, the winner goes to concept, and another vote starts. The ship pipeline needs more ships to keep the ship-building teams employed, and I'm sure CR sees $94mil as an mandate to fill the 'Verse with various models of ships, as we've had about 7 centuries of consumer spaceflight by now. There will almost certainly be other ships announced and offered for concept sale, but they may be of increasingly niche roles or overlap with other ships (like the Sabre and Hornet approaching the same role differently). There's no rush to buy in, but if/when you do, as Scotty says a Mustang Alpha or Aurora MR will do you just fine until permanent in-game ship purchases are a thing. The other ships come up for free trials now and then (much more frequently when you're a backer than when you're a non-backer waiting for free public demos), and the ship rental system means you can earn ship test-drives in-game without spending real cash, so you can try ships out before pulling the trigger on a purchase decision. From the looks of things it's basically a three-way RTS played as individual units, teamwork would be OP.
The subscriber Vault update dropped. It's the full set of Xi'An Scout style exploration boards that've been appearing on AtV Sneak Peeks. God, I actually want one now. Looking forward to seeing these in-game.
