I'm curious how cruise works and if you can exploit it to accelerate to silly speeds in the middle of a fight.

I was watching streamers on the PTU last night and there are lots of crashes. Releasing it to only 1,000 people who have a solid recent track record of reporting bugs was the smartest thing, because it's definitely not ready for prime time just yet, but once they fix the major crash bugs it'll be much closer. There's a bug that people are abusing to grief others: If you activate one of the terminals in Port Olisar to call up a ship on the landing pad, and another player physically shoves you away from the terminal, your controls become in a locked state until they or someone else shoves you back in range of the terminal. You can't even open chat. All you can do is go back to your hangar and reconnect to the baby PU instance, if you're being griefed and are not going to get pushed back. Right now repairing or refuelling a Connie or Tali crashes the server. And making a Connie blow up might crash the server but fairly reliably causes a client crash. The Connie's interior cabin lighting is still WIP, meaning dark as fuq, too. But, that's why it's on PTU and not public to hundreds of thousands of backers just yet. CIG has patches in the works for identified problems. Meanwhile, guess-who predictably went full retard and shat out dozens of angry, incoherent tweets? I'll skip the details and instead just post these two screenshots from Reddit that perfectly encapsulate both his tweetshitting yesterday and, frankly, his whole career: [t]https://i.imgur.com/pZ7eEh7.png[/t]

Word from RtV is that Erin Roberts said there's a new PTU build incoming for later today, and if things stay on track coming into this weekend, they'll open up the PTU to ~5,000 more people (criteria unknown; probably Issue Council users first). [editline]20th November 2015[/editline]
Befre the sale there were like 40 in stock, when the sale began they bumped it up to 250 or so; I have not heard anything about them discontinuing the Connie model, so you're probably safe not going for it. You can get a $25 discount for being a subscriber ($10/month), so you could save $15 and enjoy the benefits of subscription for a month ($5 hangar flair of the month, a bit of REC, etc.), even without the anni sale pricing.
Followup to this for nightlord: RtV today confirmed, once they're gone, they're gone.
Followup to this for nightlord: RtV today confirmed, once they're gone, they're gone.
Oh no, maybe i should order one then. I'm not sure how much extra costs (customs and stuff, no idea how that works) might be as i'm in the UK, which is a bit of a problem. Anyone know what the quality of it is like, anyway?
this is a fun glimpse of the future. TL;DR dude goes to station for mission, has CIG QA stalking him [editline]e[/editline] dude's streaming right now, seems cool http://www.twitch.tv/badnewsbaron

Being in the UK you'll have to add 20% VAT onto the price (So ~£82 for the model + ~£18 in VAT = ~£100)

with how quickly the vanguard became hangar-ready, how easily they're adding HUD components to a lot of ships, and the new, less labour-intensive damage system, it really seems like their ship pipeline has picked up the pace gives me hope that the ships they have planned are much more attainable, and we should see a lot more flyables in 2016

I got the same email. I'm tempted, but I'm not sure I'm ready for daily 30GB patches. They take like 4-5 hours for me to download.
Confusingly, despite the fact I haven't even had Star Citizen installed for a fair while, let alone send in any bugs... I got an invite. If this was their way of getting me to reinstall, it worked.
Got an invite for the PTU, ohohoh, yes. Looks like I won't be getting any sleep tomorrow :v:
Got the same email, sorry fallout 4. but i gotta go to space.
I got the email too, but it says the PTU is from the 19th to the 20th... I have work in like 3 hours.
I imagine they'll extend/renew it, or that's a mistake. RtV explicitly stated that Erin Roberts said they were going to open it up to more (5,000) for the weekend - ending today isn't the weekend, so I'm sure it'll get changed. I'm still waiting for mine to finish copying. Either that or they screwed up and sent an invite to the entire backer list or at least anyone who'd ever logged into the game. :v:
account copying to the PTU seems to be taking a REALLY long time...
it did that to a lot of us. If it takes more than 10 minutes re-try it. Seemed to work for me after using the function from the launcher, rather than the site
Damn, envy you guys who got invited. At least I won't have to wait too long...
seems it's the version that was out earlier today, lots of crashes trying to stream but I'm just kind of fiddling about right now, crashes too frequent at the moment to try much. May venture out more in a few http://www.twitch.tv/daijitsu
For those of you waiting for the PTU password as i am, you can go ahead and download most of the PTU files using your browser. Can PM me for links, don't want to slow it down by giving none PTU players files they can't even use. EDIT: On second thought, i'll make a torrent for everybody once i get all the files. EDIT2: Oh just got my PTU password.
You are all motherfuckers

It looks like it's using the cockpit environment probe, which isn't really right and looks weird. The interior of the glass really shouldn't be reflecting anything aside from a static view of the cockpit, kind of like how you can see a reflection of your dashboard in your windshield on a bright day. Better that than the glare I guess. People keep getting impressed by very weird and mundane things in 2.0 like calling that test environment probe a super amazing wormhole.
A+ damage state in tali [t]http://i.imgur.com/TiepDWf.jpg[/t] I'm still streaming kinda but the crashes are real [editline]e[/editline] I went back to the game and I appear to be quite a ways away from the toilet all of a sudden [t]http://i.imgur.com/IztqvlL.jpg[/t]
A+ damage state in tali [t]http://i.imgur.com/TiepDWf.jpg[/t] I'm still streaming kinda but the crashes are real
Wait, where's the stream link? I must see... Never mind, I'm dumb.
it's the lack of beard if you're comparing the two images
That's not it, the glare on parts of the skin (some more oily then others), the details of the wrinkles, the puffy eyes, the eyebrows, and the lighting on the skin. There's probably more, but I'd rather see the bigger differences that I can't put my finger on solved.
