Real quick question for everyone, if I buy an Aurora LN will I have access to Arena Commander? I remember there being some kind of Arena Commander pass as well, or is this not the case anymore?

The passes no longer exist, if you own a package you can gain access to the alpha and beta.

I really hope they replace those ridiculous zooming rings that indicate missile lock status. No sane UI designer for a real vehicle would do something like that, since they don't clearly and immediately indicate either of the things they're supposed to; which target is locked, and time until lock is complete. It should be some kind of circular progress bar, or maybe two offset crosshairs that rotate into alignment.

they look cool for short lock-ons, I'm going to wager they just used the asset out of sheer lack of having a better thing to use available to the public builds right now. Definitely something I'd want to feel more technical instead of flashy sci-fantasy across the board though
in the meantime, someone in TEST squadron was talking about how they're actually considering the P72 Archimedes for EWar/bounty aid instead of an Avenger Warlock's EMP. Given it has 4 S1 mounts, they figure you could mount a bunch of suckerpunch distortion cannons on the thing, maybe have a second archimedes with you loaded up the same, and you guys could rather rapidly disable a ship, while being too nimble for that ship to do much about
so what, the only way to get into the current alpha module thing is by getting an invite? what happened to just pledging and getting access? seems awfully dumb to me

If they handed it out en-masse they wouldn't be able to test incrementally the stress/loads on the servers, and the kinds of bugs that are present with varying numbers of users.
Also, the obvious fact that some bastard with a $2 ship would cry bloody Mary that the game is an awful train-wreck and not worth their time - like most alpha's.

You get instant access to the currently released stuff, the limit at the moment is for the still in bug-fixing phase jump to the Persistent Universe of 2.0, it's limited to those who got PTU access because of course, it's still buggy and crashy, they just wanted a larger range for the stress testing.
It will go to full release, just only after it's been tested and fixed to the degree they wish.

Yeah, they're pretty awful. It's a pretty clear case of something that looks cool as fuck but is terrible to use in practice. Like that old HUD we saw before Arena Commander that looked like the Iron Man HUD: fucking awesome looking, completely unusable.

BattleZone 1998 had three stages for every lock. At each stage, a tone would play, and the target outline would become a bolder yellow before finally turning red. Each missile had a unique tone and crosshair. After some playtime, you could identify what missile you're using without even looking at the HUD, based on the noise it makes.

Dude is trying to use an IR missile lock onto a target with virtually no heat signature, which is why it takes forever and then goes for the wrong target anyways. :v:
BattleZone 2 switched to rings around the target which would start larger before shrinking to crosshair-ish size with a tonal change. Several guided missiles could be fired in swarms, with each locked missile creating a new concentric ring around the target. It was pretty fun to use the Swarm missiles, and hear beepBEEPbeepBEEPBEEPBEEP when you're locking ten missiles onto one poor bastard.

Once again
The anniversary sale has themed days. Each themed day lasts for 24 hours. During that period, the limited ships included in that theme (e.g. racers) become available for purchase, and the same goes for CCU tokens to those limited ships.
Once that day is over, they're not available. It's clearly spelled out in the sales post and has been explained in this thread at least six times in a week.
However, starting today, the themed days are ending and for the weekend (ending first thing Monday morning) all of the ships that were offered in the sale are all back in the store at once. So, should be there, actually. (Edit: never mind, you got it sorted)
Also, Alpha 2.0 is currently on the test server for stress testing to a limited batch of 16,000 backers, mostly chosen at random. The patch is still unstable and CIG has issued several patches to fix the PTU build to be more stable.
It'll be going live to everyone in probably a week, depending on how fast they fix the instability issues after Thanksgiving.

"Any of you" is a bit of a stretch. The new post says they'll be going by citizen number, and though I backed nearly three years ago, I still don't have access. So most of us, it seems, will have to wait a while yet.
