I can better understand now why people throw their money at this game, I've only had it for 2 days and I already want to upgrade my ship. I bought an Aurora LN but I'm eyeing the Avenger and 325a, I'm guessing the Avenger design is final, but the 325a has a rework to come in the future? Hope I don't find myself spending hundreds of dollars on this game a few months from now.
Avenger is still in progress for its latest rework, and I believe the 300's will be seeing some touches later on but I haven't heard much on them. If it's of interest, there's day or two left on the Avenger Titan (hauler/base model) and Warlock (EMP bomber/'Electronic Warfare'). These are just module variations that you can stick all in the single avenger body (but they're being sold as ship+module because the system for modules isn't implemented and they want people to be able to check them out). Any of the pricier models can eventually have their cargo hold equipment swapped around for something else, so all 3 of them count as a titan in the end. The 'Stalker' model is the default (with a bounty hunter aim to it), and is always available to upgrade to at $60, and there's a game package specifically for that one instead if you'd like to increase your pre-order/backer perks a little.

Just remind yourself that buying ships now won't be giving you a massive grind skip and you'll be able to earn them in-game. If a particular concept ship and its role interests you specifically and you can afford to just burn the money it costs, consider buying it, but remember that you're supporting the game first and buying a ship second, and it's entirely optional. If you really can't stand wanting to play with the other ships and want to spend a bit of money on the game, subscribe for a month; as much as I wish it wasn't in place, one of the benefits to subscribing is a REC stipend, and REC unlocks ships in Arena Commander (and the baby PU and Star Marine, eventually). A $10 subscription gets you access to the back catalogue of concept/misc art dumps and the back catalogue of Jump Point, as well as a hangar decoration. You could leverage this to get into, say, a 325A and fit it with a few weapons, and then get out in AC and earn some REC to try out other ships that way. Reminder that when you rent an item with REC, you get 7 24-hour tokens, and if you load into a ship in any Arena Commander mode (mmmmaybe ArcCorp/alpha 2.0 when it goes live, but I haven't tested that yet) one token is expended and becomes active for every REC item you have. Renewals can be made whenever you have less than 7 day tokens (and you can renew immediately for 13 tokens total) for a 20% discount. Keep an eye out for free-flight weekends where certain ships (sometimes all of them) get unlocked for everyone to try, good for earning REC that way. The 3xx series are due for an overhaul, as are all of the original designs (the Connie's the first ship to have mostly-finished it; Freelancer's next up, Cutlass is being debated right now, Aurora confirmed to be happening Laterâ„¢), because the 3xx series as they exist now do not fit the concept description of basically a space BMW, and CIG acknowledges it.

Log into the station, walk out of bunk, see two pilots just fused with the bulkhead screaming. :v: That would be great

It'll play the same in AC and you can always get the prisoner pods added into the ship with in-game money when the game is finally released right?

The answer to the last part is yes.
$30 starter package available again! https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Star-Citizen-Starter/
Whats the difference between that and this? Also I've wanted to back this for so long but having to download some 30gb's a patch or something is really not feasible on our shitty Canadian internet. Has the patching gotten better yet?
I just applied the upgrade, is there a period of time I need to wait for the avenger to appear in my hanger? I'm logged into my RSI account and I have no available ships for selection on the hanger page, freaking out.
Whats the difference between that and this?
Whats the difference between that and this?
$15 and a very limited time window. You should have some kind of loaner. Check the holotable, some ship should appear.
Whats the difference between that and this?
anniversary special sale meant to get prospective backers interested. Same package, limited time/sale cap window. as for patching, I'd wait out the official 2.0 beta at this point. that 30gb is currently to participate in the wild unstable test build ride that is "Star Citizen has stopped responding"

Well, fuck. You didn't melt your package, did you? Also, no, the patching hasn't really improved; the launcher has, but the amount of bandwidth you spend hasn't. The reason is that Cryengine's data asset pack files (.pak) are signed and encrypted, and as soon as you encrypt things, doing delta updates becomes much more complicated. They're working on a solution, but not yet.
Well, I guess its now or never then. Sucks that the Canadian dollar is so shit right now though.
Well, I guess its now or never then. Sucks that the Canadian dollar is so shit right now though.
You can pay in Euros to get a bit of a better exchange rate, usually. Also, I edited my previous post with a note about delta patching.
Well, fuck. You didn't melt your package, did you?
I have no idea, I just applied the upgrade. Here's how my account page looks like. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/F4T5XTe.jpg?1][/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LG5l4av.jpg?1[/img_thumb]
Okay, well, the good news is, you're set once 2.0 goes live. The bad news is until then you kind of have no flyable ship, and, in their infinite wisdom, CIG either forgot or did not assign loaners to the Avenger variant concept SKUs. They'll either fix this quickly, or they'll fix this by releasing 2.0 in a week or two. However, if you follow this guide to trick the PTU files into working, your Avenger Titan should be accessible and flyable.
They were selectable before, but some reason they aren't now. I had a new avenger and had it in my hangar, but today I noticed it was nowhere.
Ughhh, I got fucked. I'd rather not wait a couple days for a fixing or for support to reply to me, so I might just upgrade again to the stalker in my impatience.
If you wait the 24 hours on melt cooldown, you can melt your package, get your full investment back, buy the package and the Avenger Titan upgrade back, and hold off on applying the upgrade until it's flyable in live. That'll keep you in your LN until then.
does a CCU'd package even have a 24 hour no-melt period?
When you guys are talking about melting are you meaning about exchanging everything for store-credit? I didn't see anything about melting but I saw a button for exchanging my items for full-store credit. I noticed the Titan has LTI if you don't upgrade to it, so wouldn't "melting/exchanging" be the better option instead of upgrading in this case?
you're correct, this is what people mean when they say 'melt' a package: if you do this now, you melt the full value of the whole package, upgraded ships and all. You don't get upgrade cards back directly, but you aren't losing any money you spent. Is your original package $45 or one of the limited $30 ones? If you don't mind the extra cash, you could just buy yourself the avenger game package and be done with it though, comes with some extra perks anyways. my best suggestion right now is if you don't want to spend more, melt down stuff, re-buy your game package, and re-buy the ship upgrade card, but DON'T APPLY IT. There's no rush to apply an upgrade, just 'before beta ends'. When 2.0 hits in a few days/week/two, apply, so you can keep your base ship until then.
does a CCU'd package even have a 24 hour no-melt period?
Oh yeah, good point, if the package itself is greater than 24 hours old, melt away.
When you guys are talking about melting are you meaning about exchanging everything for store-credit? As for getting the Titan with LTI... yyyyyyyes but you need to understand a critical thing: The Avenger Titan with LTI is not a package and will not grant you game access. It is a standalone ship. You will need to have a package as well as the Titan if you want it with LTI. Reminder that LTI is not a big deal and is more a convenience than some landshaking thing. It's nice to have, but you're now looking at buying and owning two ships. And this is how it starts. If you're comfortable with this, go right ahead and pick up one of those $30 Aurora MR starters and pick up the Titan, and just pay the difference in cash. But, I'd stick with the single package and a Titan CCU unless this is what you want. Or, as ninja master dai suggests, you could just go straight for the Avenger package.
I just realized they updated things, you can't buy the $30 aurora pack with store credit. let me know if you had a $30 pack and we can get it sorted.
I just realized they updated things, you can't buy the $30 aurora pack with store credit. let me know if you had a $30 pack and we can get it sorted.
I have an Aurora LN, it was the $45 game package. So I can just "melt" everything I got and get the avenger package, better than just upgrading to it right? I don't mind paying a little extra for the stalker.
I have an Aurora LN, it was the $45 game package. So I can just "melt" everything I got and get the avenger package?
Yes, exactly. The only condition you need to be aware of is that items purchased with store credit are irrevocably account-bound and no longer can be gifted. (But you weren't going to gift away your only package.) You'll just pay the difference of $30.
Alright, I'll just do that. The difference should even be less than that because of the Titan upgrade. edit: It was only a 15 dollar difference. Is there any point in using the upgrade feature at all? It seems like melting ships is always the better option because it doesn't limit you to your older packages features.
