I can't pick any ship but the Aurora in the game, how come? It's free flight after all.
BTW, on this, you only get the free flight ships if you're a backer. To be a backer you have to have spent money on the RSI store on your own account (not sure what to do if you're an original Kickstarter backer and it didn't register your backer status). If you received your package as a gift, this'll be the problem. However, spending $5 on the store on anything is enough to count. If you are definitely a backer and have definitely spent cash, delete your (username)_inventory.xml file in Star Citizen\CitizenClient\USER\ and reopen the game.
SXSW presentation montage. Some amazing new Planetside Module and FPS module footage. Holy shit.
DID HE JUST FUCKING SHOOT A SHIP WITH A PISTOL?! SPACE GANGSTER DRIVEBY HYPE
Wait. Six badgers on the super Hornet? You're running the current stable build and not the PTU, right? Just to be sure. That's fixed in the PTU build, the canard only takes size 1s max now.
I'm using AC 1.0.3
Okay I didn't know you can have a cat on your ship. Can I buy the 10k pledge pack now
I like how they remixed that one song they used for the Imagine trailer.
I really want to buy the cutlass, but the retaliator looks so good.
The 1.1 patch was planned for today right?
The 1.1 patch was planned for today right?
Hopefully it'll be out before the Vanguard-concept goes up, then we can get an idea of what it's weapons will actually be.
managed to fuck up first person, it wouldn't let me rotate around, I was kinda like a turret. [vid]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/03/18/bug.webm[/vid]
Hey, I'm thinking of jumping into this game, but I just wanted to clarify a couple of things If I buy one of those cheapest $45 game packages, those packages include access to the full game when it comes out right? It isn't purely beta access? Also, currently, is the game actually 100gb? If so, how big of a performance hit will I take if I don't dedicate an SSD for it.
every game package gives you the full game when it releases, it's simply a matter of whether you want alpha or beta access and all the other lovely things that come with your wallet rape.
I am bothered both by the fact that laser weapons in this game are projectiles and not solid beams, and by the fact that the personal laser weapons have recoil animations.
I am bothered both by the fact that laser weapons in this game are projectiles and not solid beams, and by the fact that the personal laser weapons have recoil animations.
Are they lasers as we know them?
Are they lasers as we know them?
Well, I'm just nitpicking. But I'll admit one thing Elite does better than Star Citizen is focus on what is scientifically viable and what is impossible. Like, in the lore, ships don't have artificial gravity. Only stations do, and that because they're rotating. Not that I mind Star Citizen's approach. It's more fun.
Are they lasers as we know them?
A laser that moves slower than the speed of light in a vacuum isn't a laser. [editline]18th March 2015[/editline] Moving at the speed of light is kinda what they do, because they are, ya know, light.
Star Citizen has a better level of flight/physics/damage/subsystem simulation than Elite does, but Elite gets the tech and scale right.

[editline]18th March 2015[/editline] Moving at the speed of light is kinda what they do, because they are, ya know, light.
what i mean is, is it REALLY a laser, or another type of energy weapon or something
Let's just call it a projected energy weapon and call it a day
Just call it plasma, and imagine that it's called laser by the average Joe because it glows and burns things. Like how all guns are AKs to journalists.
Also, currently, is the game actually 100gb? If so, how big of a performance hit will I take if I don't dedicate an SSD for it.
The game is currently about 20GB. Right now, loading times are frankly awful, but a lot of that has to do with decompressing packed Cryengine asset bundles, so SSDs are only helpful to a point.
Taking guns off the test ships and putting them on ships you own ;)

[vid]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/03/18/bug.webm[/vid]
That's like the old BF3 bug where if you got shot out of a gunner seat and revived, you would jesus-hover everywhere and could only turn in a 45 degree arc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XW3VFBLtjM
well... who's to say what kinds of tech they have to explain that though
Nanomachines. It's always nanomachines. They're the scifi equivalent of magic.
Don't want to be that guy, but in an interview given by Chris Roberts at SXSW this last week-end, he said they were planning the release of 1.1 on Thursday. Working day in NA is almost over, and not a peep. I agree, I'd rather have something more stable with fewer bugs, even if it takes longer to do it. That said, since it was originally tentatively promised three weeks ago, I'm somewhat... irritated.

Bugs crop up, art, and animations might have issues, etc. All will be clear in due time. and at the end of the day developers are humans too, we all have our own idiosyncrasies that may cause things to take longer than they should. While promises are made one can never know what might happen the day before etc. I digress Also I'm going to apply to CIG.. Bit of a long shot but what the heck.
Anyone want to buy a Freelancer LTI et al? I've given up on SC. It's too extravagant for me.
Use Kane as your middle man if you wanna sell it. You actually make a profit because your freelancer is LTI. http://www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen_trades/comments/2zg01v/wts_wtb_kanes_middleman_services_and_megastore/
From today's Around the Verse, REC earned in FPS or AC will be freely interchangeable--REC earned in Star Marine can be used to rent ships and vice versa. Illfonic and CIG are working out REC price balancing on items this week. Selected RtV notes:
They'll know more about 1.1 more today, new build last night that they're testing today, hoping they have no more blockers. If not today, they'll do the same process tomorrow. It's very close. Updates on FPS release: Nothing yet. Going to give it a couple of weeks to polish, character animations are a big thing right now. Constellation updates: Not quite finished, they were still working on them Friday. Doesn't mean it's massively changing, it's making things modular, it's making characters can sit down, stuff like that. It's not a total redesign Herald update pics: the second version we were shown, the more symmetrical one, is the one they're working with. They're porting it into CryEngine now. AC Ship Huds: Zane works about 26 hours a day, and we'll get unique ship huds for all AC ships...eventually. Updates on 64big: 1.1 contains a lot of 64 bit stuff, mostly under the hood. Won't have an impact on gameplay yet, but it's mostly there. There's still some work to be done, but it's going very well. Zane can't get help because there's no-one as good as him. Gladius free flight starting in about a week or so. The ability to mess with XML files won't be a thing in the finished game. MISC Reliant (3rd starter ship) is in concept - artist they've used before but they're not saying who. If you had to buy an AC pass to play Arena Commander, you'll have to buy a Star Marine pass for Star Marine. They are considering having game packages with just FPS (no Arena Commander) for people who want such a thing. Two Xi'An ships in development (Bomber and Transport are in concept for Squadron) Don't want to stagger launch of FPS, like Arena Commander was staggered. Will do so if necessary though. Player and NPC law enforcement is in. No pre-orders for FPS module pass. Yes to melee combat and it will work in EVA. Extremely sexy F8 Lightning is ready but it's a special ship for Squadron 42 and there's no reason the UEE Military would sell them to civilians... so they won't be selling it. You'll be able to find them in the PU, and they'll be out there, but they’re not being sold in advance. (might have to steal them from the UEE Navy) Do not go steal an F22. As with any ship in Star Citizen, the Retaliator will undergo changes. The interior is NOT FINAL. Every ship will be different when the game launches from what they are now. Hull series will likely be launched at the same time. For the Hull series, it's not really variants, they're different ships. Turbulent has finished REC system. Will launch with 1.1. Turbulent have been working on REC rather than Org 2.0 Ben confirms that new modes are being worked on for Arena Commander. New modes, new maps, lots of new stuff coming to AC. Possible Linux support: Linux support has been announced. CryEngine supports it, and so can SC. If CryEngine ever supports Mac, then so would Star Citizen. Those things are beyond CIG, they rely on CryEngine support Working on DK2 support. Engine work is being done in Germany. Update on Banu ships: There will be some in the finished game, but we can't see them yet. No more stretch goals with each million, but if they think of something they want to do they will make it a stretch goal. The Merchantman has a bridge, not a cockpit. An aaaalien bridge.
A neat little tidbit about CIG Santa Monica:
CIG Santa Monica is in an outdoor shopping mall. People walk by their door from the parking area to the stores. 3rd Street Promenade (name of mall where CIG Santa Monica lives). It’s in Grand Theft Auto.
Also,
Get REC'd with EA.
this came out of nowhere in the notes and my sides are in a jump point [editline]19th March 2015[/editline] I'd take that Freelancer, but I can't afford to offer a competitive price for what you'll get on the grey market considering the LTI.
