Make the database time out trying to load your account either in-game or in the hangar. Do this right before CIG CS goes on vacation and gets swamped with a backlog. Lock yourself out of your account for a month and counting while waiting for CS to work through the backlog and fix it. Nice move, guy. :v:
From Chris' BAFTA presentation. There was also a video about Arena Commander 1.0 that hasn't been shown before. It just showed gameplay from Arena Commander 1.0 [del]QA is going on right now: http://www.twitch.tv/baftalosangeles[/del] The whole presentation is mostly just Chris talking about his history with the industry, how the game got funded, and why he thinks it's been so successful in funding. Nothing really new, but it's always fun to hear Chris talk about. [t]http://i.imgur.com/lFnU8Oy.png[/t]
Did the timeline get kicked back a bit? Last date I heard for the first S42 episode was mid summer
It did; as of the holiday stream, they were hoping to have SQ42 episode 1 by Gamescom 2015 (August 9th or so), but that's now been pushed into fall. I'm guessing the big summit at the start of the year gave them a better idea of their projected release timelines.
So what is the PTU? Is it just earlier builds, or are they testing something major?
AC 1.0.1 testing before pushing the patch to everyone. No new ships, mostly bug fixes. Missiles nerfed a bit, countermeasures fixed and buffed a bit, missiles now show on your HUD so you can see them coming. There's also a placeholder paint option on the holotable, and the buggy is now on the table and has a single interaction point: paint.
I hope they start optimizing soon.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/VfcSJGl.png[/t] Space globes for all! They're animated, too. Backers get 1, Centurion-level subscribers get 2, Imperator-level subs get 3, chosen randomly (except Imp, who get the whole set). They'll be added to the subscriber-exclusive store soon, and when that happens, once again, I can be a middleman for anyone wanting to get a particular globe. I'm guessing they're gonna be $5.
Oh sweet! I got mine! it is the "good health and evading skills" herald one. Super cool!
I got carrack, which happens to be my favorite ship of the three so neat!
Got Glorious Moments, don't know the ship. [editline]21st January 2015[/editline] I guess it is the Carrack.
I got the Carrack as well which is awesome, because I wanted that one.
Glorious Moments - Carrack Good Health - Herald (dodging shittons of fire when activated) Good Salvage - take a fucking guess :v: I got the Reclaimer and Herald globes. Also, PSA: At least in the PTU, and possibly in live AC1.0.1, don't fire Rattlers at close range. [vid]https://fat.gfycat.com/SharpThoughtfulGibbon.webm[/vid]
I got herald, bleh
I wish I got the Carrack since I do own one! Anyone know when Carrack is hangar ready? I want to see my baby.
I wish I got the Carrack since I do own one! Anyone know when Carrack is hangar ready? I want to see my baby.
I imagine you'll be waiting quite some time, considering it was only recently unveiled. I'm still waiting on my Tali
I wish I got the Carrack since I do own one! Anyone know when Carrack is hangar ready? I want to see my baby.
Expect to be waiting months. The new ship pipeline should make shipbuilding more efficient, but the Carrack is not a tiny ship and everything needs to be animated and scripted, the ship UIs need to be built, and multiple configurations of damage states need to be created for each section of the ship. It only just was in concept. For more detail, here's the CIG post. Can't find the detailed flowchart that shows the stages and where things get handed to CR for review and approval, but it's out there somewhere. I've been wanting to see what the Herald now looks like, since it's finished the concept phase (design locked in, as locked in as anything is) and is waiting for a technical artist to be ready to work on it last I heard. From the tiny model in the globes, I guess I'm happy with it, although I miss my ugly little fucker's left-right asymmetry. I wasn't a fan of the round poppy-flower array on the starboard side, but I liked the rest. [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline] fml. The globes are in the store, now. However, there aren't three SKUs for each of the globes. Instead:
Buying a Space globe will get you ONE random globe out of the three available. But we’re making sure that for the first three you get, you won’t get the same twice.
Trying to get individual globes for people is gonna be shitty, and I can't even be sure that I can promise someone a complete set if they give me $15 to throw at the store. Pics from the store page: [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/mevyhfd5ev1c4r/source/Space_globe_salvage3.png[/t] [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/68ddq854chm7br/source/Space_globe_evade3.png[/t] [t]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/i556s2e1bhbwvr/source/Space_globe_moments3.png[/t] [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline]
We are working on a completely new damage system, currently in prototype 0.04 ,that can cater for both small ships and large ships(scaleable).I cant reveal or show anything yet,but i can tell you one thing, its going to be sweeeet!!
https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/comment/4304131/#Comment_4304131 [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline] Well, I spoke too soon about the Herald. From today's RtV, according to Nehkara's notes on the subreddit:
Final design for the Herald is still up in the air (whether or not it will be asymmetrical) and it will be up to CR.
Other tidbits (not going to bother with quote blocks): - The ship sale starting January 26th will be available for everyone. - None of the ships in AC V1.0.1 are "finished" but in particular the Cutlass is not done. - Because the concept is done, there won't be any more shots of the Banu Merchantman until it is modeled in the game. - FPS Module will be linked to the Hangar Module. - The way of accessing Arena Commander will be changing. - "Q: Will FPS have any interaction or tie-in with Arena Commander?" Yes it will. - Another confirmation from Ben that there will be a MISC Hull A, B, C, D and maybe even larger in the future. Ben compares the Hull A to a single-person station wagon, the Hull B to a moving truck, the Hull C is like a big rig, and the Hull D is like a supertanker... and anything larger is "something special." - Some of the ships going on sale starting on January 26th: Aurora LX, Freelancer MIS, Cutlass Blue, Retaliator, Xi'An Scout and much more. - All ships in AC will be attainable with AC Credits. - More rooms for the hangars probably coming with the planetside/social module. - CIG will be adding in tools to create an esports competition such as additional game modes and ways of specializing matches (For example: Only Hornets and you get a certain amount of points to outfit the ship), ranked leaderboards and so on. If someone wants to create esports out of this, CIG will support it. - Arena Commander ships (ships you own only in AC) will continue to be a thing permanently. Oh, and the guy in charge of designing the Hull C designed the USS Reliant from Star Trek DS9, and he also did the Freelancer. AC's going to stay in the game in the PU, as a simulator so you don't risk your ships. AC Credits seems like the perfect way to test drive ships before buying, either on the pledge store or in the PU.
Really happy they're doing the arena commander credit thing, it should go a long way to fixing the annoyance everyone's had with AC being pay to win and maybe it'll actually be fun. I haven't been able to play since they nerfed the 300i into uselessness (also my client has had a bug preventing me wanting to try)

He really was attached to how ugly it was though.
Anyone think using a 10 person ship for a base of operations for the bounty hunting corp i'm in is a good idea, or would it even work. I had the Idris in mind.
Anyone think using a 10 person ship for a base of operations for the bounty hunting corp i'm in is a good idea, or would it even work. I had the Idris in mind.
Well it really could be. If Chris has this game finish how he wants the game to be, the stars would be the limit on what you could do. But since there really isn't anything too big gameplay wise now other than AC, you can't really tell. I am sure those big ships will be made to be something like that [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline] Also I think you can pack in some smaller ships in the idris. Also your friends can park next to you, then EVA over to your ship. So yeah it could be a thing!
That's going to depend on the capabilities of the Idris. Keep in mind that the Javelin, the largest ship CIG says they'll be offering on the pledge store, has a hangar bay that's designed to hold one Redeemer for flying a boarding squad into the action, and the bay's only large enough to hold one ship smaller than the Redeemer except for being able to fit two Auroras or M50s. If you're planning on using it for fleet logistics and being the big muscle for smaller ships to gather around, you'd probably be able to do that. However, I don't know how suitable it'll be as a base for ships to land at. I suppose if it has enough docking collars, though... I mean, really, I'm sure if you outfitted a Carrack for war it'd be a flagship for a small org until you could afford something bigger and meaner. It all depends on how many people you need to support and what you need. If you need multiple docking bays, you have to go for a pretty huge ship. If you're just looking for a fleet command ship that's big muscle, your options get wider. And we don't really know how all this shit's going to work in-game, only what they want to do. The Idris is in-engine on the development side right now and is being used as a placeholder for SQ42 capship stuff, last I heard.
Yeah. Heck just starting out you could have a simple base of operations on a cutlass. It depends how big you become. But yes who knows what it will be like when we can actually do things in the game. haha. My roommate and I got the carrack for the reason on having our own base of operations ship.
The corp isn't getting bigger than 12 members, We are just going to be bounty hunters/mercs
An Idris's crew complement is 10. You'd need to have almost the entire org online at once to fly the thing properly without relying on semi-dumb NPCs. An Idris'd just get taken from you guys. :v: A Connie and a few fighters would probably be your best bet for early on, tbh, or another ship of similar size. Even a Starfarer, if it can be fitted for military (or there's a military variant, and there probably will be) might work, although it'll probably be slower than either a Connie or a Carrack.

I reckon you won't suffer too much having less than the maximum crew as human players. All theoretical at this moment though.

If you have a threat strong enough to make you have your Idris/Carrack/whatever run, your fighters are gonna get fucked in the ass when you launch and abandon them. Stay and support your fighters, or just run away altogether. Unless the point is to basically throw guided chaff made of hornets at the enemy, that's costly but possibly effective.
Yeah I think if I had an Idris I would definitely use it for force projection in combat rather than keeping it on the sideline for mere resupply/hangar duties. Early game it'll probably be difficult/expensive to outfit but I doubt you'd find much that could catch you off-guard and challenge it.
If you're talking about obtaining an Idris early game you're probably underestimating the resources involved.
I'm not, just I rather not have it into much of a combat role, it will be used for it, but its mostly going to be a base, I don't think having a star base is the brightest idea for an org. like I'm making, we will make enemies. Probally going to get more than 12 people tho. Now that I think of it, 12 might not work out right if not everyone is on.
